    My husband and I just watched some of your videos and really bummed on your behalf about your back pains! That must have been agony waiting for medical assistance, but I’m glad they were able to help at last and it looks like you have some more vids from this trip, so your back didn’t completely ruin the trip! Really enjoyed you two walking - I don’t remember you saying, but how many days did you originally plan to take for the Cotswold Way? You look so much more relaxed than another couple we watched who also did the Way, so I was wondering if they were trying to do it in a more compressed timeframe.

    Crossing the A417 is my least favourite part of the Cotswold Way. They're currently rebuilding that whole junction at the Air Balloon Roundabout and it should be a lot safer once they put in proper pedestrian bridges. When the Cotswold Way was first created it wasn't that busy on the A417, the traffic used to be more split between the old Ermin Street (a Roman road) and the A417 but then they built the Brockworth Bypass and it directed the traffic away from the Ermin Street onto the A417 making that road incredibly busy. I used to commute to Andoversford and went through that junction every day. The main downside to the new roadworks there is the destruction of the old pub, the Air Balloon.

    • @GeoRick
      @GeoRick Před 11 dny

      A pedestrian bridge will be wonderful for the trail. I was looking forward to the Air Balloon pub along our way. When I saw the fences I was hoping it was just being renovated. Always sad when we lose a special place. Interesting to get the background. Thanks.

  • @alexmckee4683
    @alexmckee4683 Před 11 dny

    It's really confusing at the top of the Greenway, with all the branching footpaths. Not surprised you made a mistake there, very understandable. Was that the first time you lost the trail?

    • @GeoRick
      @GeoRick Před 11 dny

      We lost it a couple of times but only for a few minutes. When we got a little confused or unsure we looked at the Macs Adventure app on our phones and were soon on the right path, The Cotswold Way markers are very good so fortunately no real set backs. The app now bleeps when you go off the trail so much improved.

    • @GeoRick
      @GeoRick Před 15 dny

      Yes places with efficient train systems are great to visit. Would love to visit Japan one day. There are millions of pipe pieces in the Thames. I have just read that when the pipe stems became blocked with tar the stems where broken off so you could continue to use the pipe. That explains why there are so many small pieces on the foreshore.
