Antitubercular Drugs (ATT) I Action & Side Effects I TB
Tuberculosis, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is still a big health problem worldwide, especially in developing countries. It gets even trickier with the emergence of drug-resistant strains, making it harder to treat. That's where Antitubercular Drugs (ATT) come in handy - they play a crucial role in managing and getting rid of this infectious disease.
First-line drugs, commonly remembered through the mnemonic RIPES, include:
1. Rifampicin
2. Isoniazid
3. Pyrazinamide
4. Ethambutol
5. Streptomycin
These medications form the cornerstone of tuberculosis treatment due to their effectiveness in combating the infection.
