This is Project #1 in our series Things I've Made My Mom. Scented Potpourri Sachet This is a lovely paper sachet ball that I made with both my mom and my mom in law around 20 years ago. We loved it and had so much fun. The one pictured in the thumbnail is one of a pair my mom displays in her home. These can be made by hand or pre- cut with a Cricut. You can find the template for this on Design ...

Beginner Stained Glass Project Idea (No Soldering Required)
Beautiful pieces. I'll give the white vinegar a try.
Great video!
Thanks for sharing! Do you use sharpie or alcohol ink on the engraving to color it in?
Thanks for sharing your method. I'll give it a try.😊
Beautiful work
Beautiful ❤
Love love love this tutorial… thank you for a fantabulous demonstration… ❤
This is so awesome! Do you have any instructions? I would love to make one!
I know this is from 2 yrs ago, but I’m learning. Are you stretching the wire ? That’s what I’m watching ? I’m going to wire bird feet on a Rose breasted gross beak 😊
These pieces are tiny! Do you have any tips on holding pieces while grinding?
Always such a beautiful final touch!❤❤❤
I bought this and have been waiting for this video ! Thank you so much I haven't soldered it yet because I was waiting until you did because I'm a visual learner. You are awesome! Looks so good ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🤩🤩😍😍💙🤍💙🇦🇷🙏😘👏
Can't see your work very well, top and bottom half is blurred out, why?
I do both to❤
Your gaps are way too wide, it makes the solder joins look ugly. But that's a fault with the pattern.
Yes they are and normally I would grind them but this was just an intro with the hobby lobby kits using only what you get from them as s starter project but yes definitely recommend grinding and making a tighter fit. Thanks for watching
@@reneesstainedglassworks3990 I understand that you're just following the instructions on the kit. I've seen your other work, and it's amazing. I'm looking forward to part 4. It's great that you can teach people how to improve the final product from these kits.
What flux are you using? I see you are not using what came with the kit. Also, why do you dip your iron into it?
@@BobbiSchneider I'm using liquid flux. Hobby Lobby also sells liquid flux. It keeps my tip clean and works great when lifting solder balls.
I am sure this technique will be great for using a patina. Getting a good black is often a strain. But how do you get and keep a good shine to a piece you want to leave with the silver of fresh solder
This is the perfect answer to my question! It might have been helpful to mention the weight that each gauge could hold. But, I guess I will eyeball it ;) Thanks!
Thank you love your videos. Im just now learning to add jump rings and deco wire. I’m nervous about how much solder it takes to hold a secure hanging ring for a small 8” piece. Can you give some advice for this please?
Hi thank you for watching my videos I hope they help. I do have a couple videos about making Wire Hooks for your pieces if you want to check that out. I do recommend that when attaching your rings to make sure they are attached to one of your solder lines. It's never a good idea to attach rings to edge of foil as this is will pull away from glass over time. I hope this helps and good luck!
Heyyy! Nice to see you back in tube land 😀
Thank you so much it's nice to be back!
I would like to make this with you
Hi Dont you find moving the wire like that leads to the wire tearing of the foil tape, that happens sometimes to me when i try and attach wire to an edge...any tips 😊
I completely understand. First I prefer to use gel flux as the liquid flux can get under tape and cause lifting. Make sure to clean the glass and edges thoroughly with alcohol before applying copper foil. I also find that the Edco black backed foil is the strongest. And make sure you are burnishing all sides of your foil with your fid. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching
@@reneesstainedglassworks3990 Thankyou fir yr extra tips, I do most of them I will use alcohol & I have been meaning to change to gel flux, Thankyou so much for yr help 😊
Thanks, that is very helpful. Someone gave me a fairly heavy stained glass piece, but the hangers came off. Apparently, they were not strong enough to hold up over time. I want to hang it again, and there is no one to do it, so I am going to get brave with my soldering iron and some copper bonsai wire.
Good luck with your project! Hope the video helped
Bonsoir, Un grand merci pour votre générosité.
I'm new to stained glass work. I wanted something simple but strong for some small beginner pieces that I'm doing. This was exactly what I needed to know. If you have any advice on how to gauge the strength of these (as I work toward hanging larger pieces) that would be great!
Thanks for sharing the white vinegar trick. I'm always down for options using household items instead of harsh chemicals. I noticed what appears to be a blue dream catcher with feathers hanging down in the background. Are you a Native American? If not then please google The Arts and Craft Act of 1990 and respect the Indigenous people and their livelihood. I would like to invite everyone else to google that as well. Your work looks awesome! Choctaw Native.
It would be helpful if you talked outloud while you were doing the overlays. It's not close up, and with you not explaining, it's difficult to learn. Beautiful pieces though!
A machine shop! How cool. 🎉
😊😊😊
Great jig.
Wow! I recently made a hummer about 1/3 that size, no comparison to this beautiful guy! Your glass selections are always beautiful. ❤
Great idea and so cute! Keep sharing your creations here, please! Many people out there would be interested in your alternative style of creations with glass. 🎉
lol, ❤ the squirrel! Never seen dipping iron in flux, Renee What have I missed? You have 👀 for creating many people don't. No worries (perfection) creator! 👏🏼 Love what you are doing!
Thank you so much! Dipping the iron in the Flux helps keep it super clean!
Greeaattt space gurl! You go! 🥰
What size wire
I'm using 16 gauge and 14 gauge tinned copper wire
Thanks! I gonna try this!
Very informative. Thank you for sharing.
I ask you if when we use lead-free pewter we should use patina. And if it has to be cleaned anyway?
Hi Renee. I was wondering what the blue gloves are that you use? And are they cut or heat resistant? I'm just starting out and hadn't found a pair of gloves that I like yet.
Hi Renee, thank you for the nice workshop. Do you use the same Patina for the solder and hobby came?
Thank you yes I do
Don’t do the view split when recording please
I love ❤️ all your work and tutorials...thank you!
Nice work. I listen to Old Time Radio shows as well.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Renee, are you dipping your iron in flux?
Yes it helps keep my tip clean
Love this trick🙌
Thank you so much for doing this video!! I’ve been struggling with the same problems and you have given me hope to get my solder lines nice and black with no white residue from the polish🙌🙌 Do you think that older copper foil plays a part in the dull finish, even though the copper foil has never been opened from its original pkg.? Keep sending out great tips! Your videos are so well done! Cindy
Great video. I'm very interested in how a stained glass piece can be mounted in a wood frame like you have done.
This foil in the corner hack is a great idea!!!!!
Nice work ❤
