I'm a 70 year old single white male. I've lived in Alamo Heights for 15 years. I have two comments on Ms. Ross' remarks. First, my research and observation tells me the population diversity indicates that 70% of "09rs" are white, 25% are Hispanic or Latino, and the remaining 5% make up several very small population groups. That's neither good or bad. It's just what it is. Most of the faces you'll see are white and many of them are affluent. The second comment you made, Ms. Ross, is that the airport take off and landing patterns fly over Alamo Heights. In my research and observation, that only happens in unusual weather or wind conditions, and I estimate that less than 5% of air traffic from San Antonio International Airport ever makes its way over our incredibly quiet city. And that's how most of us who are already here want to keep it: Quiet.

I live in Houston. Between San Antonio and Austin, Texas. I would choose San Antonio over Austin. Why? Because San Antonio's expenses in almost every category you think of is much cheaper. Austin is the California of Texas. I lived in Austin for almost a decade and hated every bit of it. Houston has a better life in the state. It's cheap with a coast about 40 minutes away. So Houston is the winner. Between Austin and San Antonio, I would choose San Antonio!

I love to watch these realtor ads especially when I need a good laugh. I have lived in S.A. before and have lived in the Bulverede/Spring Branch area since 2003. I have watched as our "small town vibe" has gone away to be replaced by the city rudeness,discourteous city people have moved in and run amok. The property taxes have risen by 200% and cost of living out here has risen like everywhere else. The city size property lots and astronomically priced, 300,00 for a 1400 square ft home with a yard that is so small front and rear you only need a weedeater and about 45 mins to cut the whole thing. The roads are a little rough causing on avg.,1500 -2500 per year of excess maintenance on your vehicle.The crime rate has risen to three times what it was just 5 yrs ago.Our schools were GREAT but have now only become good in standards. The road construction on 281 wont be finished by the end of 2022 but more like 2025 but road construction on the feeder roads like hwy46 wont be finished for another 5yrs. The water out here is very hard and very hard on house hold appliances. So make sure these overpriced houses you are buying have a water softening system, otherwise water heater ,washers,dishwaters and refridgerators with water dispersers or ice makers will need maintenance or replacement frequently. Ours needed replacement twice in our first 5 yrs out here before our water softener was installed. Privacy out here is long since gone without a tall privacy fence installed with the new neighboring house less that 50 ft away. This was a great rural area to live and has just become an extension of san antonio city life. I hope you enjoy this "closer to the truth" comment being added.If your going to sell a lifetime commitment to someone at least have a good enough conscience to tell them what they are getting into out here.

Moved here Jan '21 and I have to say we have the best neighbors! Spot-on with your comment about people being friendly and inviting. As a Latino born and raised in San Antonio, my partner and I were conscious of the stereotype Alamo Heights is afflicted with. But our experience has been nothing but positive and very enjoyable. When my partner and I went overseas the police department monitored our home, even so far as to walk around the premises, making sure doors were still locked, and were very thorough. We've had all our neighbors over for dinner and we enjoy every one of them!
