Hi, I’m Dr C. Rajeswaran (known as Dr. Raj), Consultant Endocrinologist (Hormone specialist) and a Bariatric (Obesity) physician working in the UK and India. I am also serving as the Medical Director and Co-Founder of Simplyweight.
I have been working in the field of Obesity for the last 20 years, having managed thousands of patients in the UK and worldwide.
Losing weight is a sensitive issue. People who are overweight or obese have several medical and psychological issues. It is not only important to lose weight but also be happy, healthy and confident.
Each one of us has a different genetic makeup, environment, likes and dislikes. So, any weight loss plan should be personalised to your needs.

    Doctor, you are a genius. My mind was on that very subject. My husband was on the night shift, which meant, that as soon as my feet hit the floor, in the morning, I was on the go. Breakfast, get kid's lunches packed, and get them off to school, put laundry in washer, feed the dog, put coffee on before husband gets up gets up, make his lunch, and start our dinner, and I always had to eat fast. Since he retired, I found myself eating fast, and decided that, it became a bad habit. Now, I eat more slowly, and less. Definitely my gut is happier, and I have totally stopped eating foods that are high in oxalates or too much protein. My kidney are thanking me.

    I quit working out every time Ramathan comes around because I think to myself, what’s the point if I don’t have the time in the day to consume enough protein/ other necessary nutrients ? .. I can’t cram a balanced fast breaking meal/ protein shakes before going to bed ( I never bother wake up for suhur / dawn meal because I start work 6am )

    10 hours here in NZ alhamdullilah... Ramadhan is not for losing weight, instead its month of gaining self control, connection with Allah and acknowledging people who are suffering with poverty.

      Thank you as u know ramadan is coming fast 6 of may in fact and i am blessed to be good looking in my families eyes but i am overweight and i was going to use this ramadan as a stepping stone to get fit and i never looked it in a way u have described so thank you i will know take it more seriously and thank allah for the opportunity to wash myself of my sins as well as enjoying the benefits

      Why not? Ramadan is for bettering yourself both as Muslims and as people, if you're overweight and potentially might suffer from weight related problems then Ramadan is an additional incentive to fast and lose weight. It shouldn't be the only reason you fast, but definitely a way to think of fasting as immediately noticeable whereas your other rewards come in the after life.
