    Another thing to point out would be that since there are 2 less solids on the table, that is just 2 less "traffic" balls to be in your way. Excellent for APA, maybe not for a league that is count ball count. But probably its the best call either way. Nice run out

    Your level of focus is drifting. You need to keep an even keel. Invest in every shot. Play small on your positioning instead of an area. Try adding a routine on every shot, no matter how simple the shot is. Find the aim line, locate the next shot, find the specific place you want to leave the rock.

    I'm new to the sport and also a new subscriber. I really enjoy watching your videos. They're very informative and realistic. Plus you're not embarrassed to show the shots that you missed. Makes the rest of us beginners feel human. Hopefully someday I'll reach your skill level. I'm sure you've been asked this before, but could you tell me the make and model of your play cue stick?. I just bought a mid-level McDermott, which I do like. However I wish the butt diameter was larger. Thanks

    Just wondering, is there a consistent way to make a ball on a nine ball break, and getting a shot on the one, and the two is set up to combo the nine in the corner after you shoot the one and get shape?

  • @shader26
    @shader26 Před měsícem

    Would it have been a good option to go for a safety (having to swallow pride a little) on that shot you just couldn’t see the angle for? I fall into this trap too much. It’s a great point. Not feeling the shot and shooting and just hoping, but afterwards knowing you just didn’t have it even though you feel you ought to. I think it’s a huge lesson, and watching better players than me I see they fall into the ego trap sometimes of feeling it should be made, when they know it’s not there. Also aren’t those shots almost always a sell out when you miss?

  • @shader26
    @shader26 Před měsícem

    I revisited this video, and I find I still need the lessons you give here. In this time I did buy a low deflection shaft for my cue. Played with it for months. Was never sure if I should be using parallel or FHE/BHE. Tried going back to non LD, but decided for sure after that that I want to use the LD shaft. So back to square one. Noticed I felt I was getting a little bit of the hang of it when practicing, but in tournaments/matches I would suddenly get a bad feeling when I needed it on longer shots with more power. Watching again, it’s obvious I need to work on longer shots with harder hits…the same shots that intimidate me even though I do better (not great yet) in practice. Your point hit home, I shouldn’t think I am getting there until I can make that shot ten times in a row. Have now downloaded your app and will start using it. Thanks, this video saves tons of time that might have been wasted looking for some magic pill tip or system. I’m sure now, about the cue I will use, and that all it takes is simply shooting these shots all the time. Hoping to use your app to document progress, or lack of progress so I know what I most need to work on. Thanks!

  • @shader26
    @shader26 Před měsícem

    I discovered the same problem you had (#3) of tensing up causing the cue tip to hit low and to the right. I discovered it using a practice cue ball. First seeing where I hit (as you say, specially when I hit harder) and then worked backward and it was easy to see why. It he,led a lot!

    This is nice if you are racking to fleece your buds, however you probably only would be racking if you were losing. This vid teaches nothing about breaking to increase the probability of making the nine, or to make some balls so you can keep shooting.

    I just subbed to your channel. My question to you is when shooting a straight shot, do you use an open or closed bridge? I use an open bridge most of the time, which I believe causes me to be off at times, but seems more comfortable and natural to me.

    unfortunately APA is play what you make. So there is no choice of going stripes. I think what I would do is shoot the 1 and bring the cue back right for a shot on the 6 into the corner and hoping to get an angle to break out the 4. And i don't know after that.

    When i draw or follow, should my bridge be centered and attack down or up on the cue ball or adjust my bridge either higher or lower and attack the cue ball higher or lower from (but in a stright line) from a centered bridge? A bit confuseing but hopefully someone understands my question and can give correct advise. Thanks
