I know that you are a pianist and most definitely very focused on the theoretical side of music, but I just have to say that It feels like you're loosing focus when you start playing on the piano in the middle of the song and during very important parts of the song. I don't mean anything bad by it, I get it: you want to figure out what's going on. But this genre is uncharted territory for you. You're basically being served a very well-crafted dish which, not only tastes amazing but are also made with sophisticated techniques, wouldn't you want to eat the dish before dissecting it? Just sit tight in the boat and behold the wonders before you, there's a reason why people are obsessed with this music, don't want you to miss it :)

Wow, I never thought you'd show Anciients! They're super nice, hardworking guys from here in Vancouver. Last time they toured in ~2017 I caught them in a super cozy and intimate basement venue show for a very limited # of people but they played their butts off and were incredible. They're so deserving of any attention they get after recently re-emerging!

I stopped following them until this album...

My first Iron Maiden song was 'Aces High" I do need to add a small correction.. You said the song was written from the perspective of the Native Americans. Only the first verse was from their perspective.. the rest of the song is written from the perspective of the European Americans. It describes various ways that the white men fought against them.. dirty tactics and all. It paints the white man as merciless and ruthless while the white man justifies his actions. Anyway just had to point that out. ;) Feel free to slap me down for it.. but my brain was screaming at me to say it.

I love this video because he listens to the whole song, no cuts every 20 seconds. Videos with a break every 10 bars are so boring. How can you enjoy a song like that? Otherwise, I feel like his jaw is going to drop.

Most of the song is straight beat you can feel as 3/4 or 6/8. The snare hit on the accent confuses the ear. But once you get into the groove and after multiple listens perhaps, you get into the groove.

Sounds like progressive and more intelligently written ghost music. I like it, just not the clean vocals. And there's too much reverb on the false ones imo.Might have to check out their other stuff to get a better outstanding of the band.

This was really interesting to listen to. I have some different perspectives on Trevor though… Trevor was a poet and could paint the prettiest pictures you have ever seen using the ugliest colors available. I don’t think demons got to him by playing with these subjects but I do think he was interested in them because of a continuing cloud within. If you listen to any of his final interviews it sounds like the pressure of being the best frontman and such a persona in the metal scene and feeling like his next work couldnt live up to his previous self. He also mentioned a few time about his body image. All speculation of course but it seems very human to me. Last note, anecdotally my mom has suicidal tendencies and she is the brightest, sweetest, kindest lady you could meet, and to me if that can’t keep the bad away then I don’t think dark subjects invite them in. 🖤

Man, you're wearing a Job for a Cowboy shirt.... we need to see some JFAC, something from Sun Eater or Moon Healer. The first two songs from Sun Eater would be a great intro since they flow into each other. Also, Persefone is another band to get to. The song 'prison skin' would be a good one, great music and lyrics too.

I got myself their album "Voice of the void" a while back and i did enjoy it. Not my top album, but still pretty interesting to listen to, once in a while. I'm curious to see this new album and what it sounds like as a whole.
