If only it felt good in writing terms and not forced or pushed upon the story then I might like the ship writing (P.S. It doesn't have an writing and shouldn't even be in the story to begin with due to how Rooster Teeth butchered the RWBY writing) -Would be the opposite if RWBY was done right with smart directors and writers.

I have noticed a concerning trend in people to treat criticism as an important message that the writers must read to right properly. Whenever in reality, criticisms are essentially opinion pieces. They are all going to be different, whether due to people having different experiences, different tastes, or recognizing different stuff. Even just in this video, Xel has pointed out multiple parts that others don't necessarily notice or even consider. That doesn't necessarily mean their criticisms are wrong. Someone not noticing is something that can be critiqued since it didn't get the message across to that person. Different people have different ideas and thought processes, so someone not seeing Bumblebee signs early on can also act as a critique, since to them it wasn't actually a sign of Bumblebee. Neither of these has to be false for Xel's video to be true. But too many people try to make it binary. Too many people see that someone didn't notice Bumblebee developing to mean that Xel is wrong. Too many people don't consider the early signs of it to actually be signs too, and decide that Xel is wrong. And this has become a real problem. Critique cannot, and should not, be a binary thing. It should not be that it's a bad show or a good show. It should be that it failed to get its message across to this person. It failed to garner the attention of someone with this background. And it should also be the opposite. Ultimately, critique is related to the self and how it perceives everything, and every critique is going to be colored by your personality. This also means that critique is not something that needs to be noticed by the producers. Because sentimentally, there are too many critiques out there with varying opinions to actually be useful. And it's further hampered by the fact that critiques both utilize hindsight and are about already published work. I mean, it should be pretty obvious that creating a critique about V1-3 6 years after it was released isn't going to actually help unless you show how any problems are still happening. Right? Guys... you're scaring me here. Though now to actually be serious, critique is also highly overrated in that it's not as simple as just doing what the critic is saying. Whatever the critic is saying is broken and could easily be a plot point in the future. And for example, let's just look at Bumblebee. Getting rid of it now after so long isn't going to actually fix anything, it will just break even more things, as the story itself would need to bend to justify why they suddenly broke up and Blake back at Sun's side again. That wouldn't be a useful critique at all. And there is simply too much critique out there that it's nearly impossible for anyone to be able to sort out the useful critique from the rest, especially since some of that critique would have been useful before the production of a certain season, but not after that volume was produced. TL;DR if my post above doesn't make any sense: Critique isn't inherently good to have. It relies on your own personal experiences to determine whether you consider something a problem, and it doesn't disqualify other people who don't consider it a problem. It's not something that is a simple binary. Writers themselves can't accurately use critique, since it in hindsight, might end up affecting a future plot point, changing to match the critique might negatively harm the show, and the critique itself might not be considered a problem by the writers, who themselves have different ideas and personalities. Along with that, there is so much critique that producers can't really sort through it all of the time to find critiques that work.

I totally forgot about Ruby giving Weiss an assist during her fight with Marrow. Emphasizes the teamwork aspect even more than I realized!

Back at it again spreading the good word of Bumbleby, again great video and I'm glad you listed a lot of things that people just seem to either gloss over or ignore out right.

After the season aired I realized even as someone who was not invested in their relationship , Bees is literally written like a slowburn fanfic but unlike a in fanfic, we can’t read the pining inner monologue of the characters and can only see the ship through the actions that are taken and dialogue about each other, thats why people didn’t pick up on it or said it was forced. Its probably the only slowburn queer romance in animation that doesn’t happen right at the end of the story

They absolutely are couple goals in general, but especially when it comes to LGBT+ - Absolutely love that the show really does drive home just how naturally the two flow with each other, like I'd almost think the writers do intentional reminders of exactly that across volumes; while v4-5 showing Blake and Sun's lacking in that regard is just cherry on top to further drive it home. -"reading too much into things" aka bigots trying to dismiss/deny any and all LGBT+ hints, because they can't take LGBT+. Like legit there's an almost word-for-word go-to dogwhistle checklist they use for every single LGBT+ pairing. The wink is such an pinpoint example given that some latch onto Sun's wink at Blake during him running by her as flirting in a romantic fashion (some even mentally adding in the false notion of Blake blushing in response); yet turn around and act as if its absurd to take Yang winking at Blake with the offer of her first dance after a highly emotionally bonding scene that leads to Blake coming to the dance to take Yang up on said offer as romantic. Hell the one crowd will even spin Blake coming to the dance as being tied to Sun, when its very much tied to Yang (with even Blake in-canon stating she's technically going with Sun). It all just made the payoff in v9 that much more delicious xD

2:11 Admittedly, I've always been the "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of guy, so I didn't really think much of these moments, and in fact got irritated by Blake's reaction to Yang's fall in V8...at first. Then V9 comes around, and not only make said fall make INFINITELY make more sense (and enjoyable in reruns), but also makes for a nice easter egg hunt for hints on what Crwby was plotting the whole time. 😆

These reasons are why these two are the best couple of all time. I can’t wait to see more there romance in vol 10👍

What's Neat that it's VIZ that got RWBY, is that they're Fairly well known for having ABSURDLY Long Lasting Series and Trusting them to get where they're going to the end, they don't cut stories short. If anything the problem with Viz is that they just won't let things DIE (I Mean FFS Naruto has 720 and Boruto has like 293 And counting...I just hope they don't make filler Archs in RWBY the same way they did for that shows. Oh and they also have Pokemon at 1269 Episodes)... Which if it's what they do with RWBY, I'm totally cool with that, Bring on the Immortal Franken-RWBY, I'll be here Adoring it till the heat death of the universe.

A lot of people ripped apart this fight and that anger understandable why. I feel like this fight could had more weight if RWBY have more mentor-like dynamic with the Ace Ops or even knowing more about the Ace Ops's background or personalities.

This was an amazing video essay. You did a fantastic job. It constantly annoyed me when, to start, people thought that Bumbleby was a crack ship and would never happen, simply because Sun winked at Blake as he ran past her. Then, when it became increasingly overt in Volume 6, we started to hear the “it came out of nowhere” arguments. As you have expertly pointed out, no it really didn't. The people that constantly complained were either homophobic, ignorant, or had absolutely no media literacy whatsoever. Once again, great job.

Hard to pick a favorite scene for me. But I think one of the best, most underrated scenes, mostly for what it means for Ruby and all her development, is when Ruby lies to Ironwood about what happened to Ozpin there being no Lamp questions left after he tells the group his plans to restore the CCT. She hears the General's entire plan and has seconds, less than that, to decide how to go forward. How would Ironwood react to learning the truth? To the lies Ozpin kept so the world could keep turning? In the course of maybe a month she's seen every possible reaction to learning about Salem. From pushing on the fight anyway, to giving up and running like Raven, or even throwing in with Salem like Leonardo did. James' plan could save to world, and what she says next could change all of that. For better or worse, Ruby chooses to hide the truth from him, and I love that shows how far she's come, and the trust her friends and family show in not outing her. ANY ONE OF THEM could have said something to the counter, but they trusted Ruby. Ruby from Volume 1-3 would have spilled the whole story as soon as an authority figure asked, but V7 Ruby made that decision for herself. It's a boring, talking exposition dump of a scene, and whether or not someone agrees with Ruby's decision in that moment, it's still one of the best, most understated moments of character growth ever. ...in my humble opinion at least.

My favorite fight of the whole show, glad that it gets the love it deserves.

I'd like to point out that unlike the Ace Ops, Team RWBY has real huntress experience in Remnant while the Ace Ops were only centered around Atlas/Mantle. Team RWBY has also experienced loss before and had their determination put to the test in many scenarios, while the Ace Ops were always in their comfort zone until Salem's invasion happened. Suddenly, the Ace Ops lost their team leader, and Ironwood betrayed the people. Team RWBY are strong as individuals not just as a unit, so they are capable of making tough choices when needed, but the Ace Ops folded, and did whatever Ironwood told them to for the sense of direction they had lost. Also, Team RWBY was united through it all despite their doubts while the Ace Ops were divided without a leader there to guide them, making their teamwork during a crucial moment practically non-existent. These are reasons why Team RWBY was stronger and most importantly, a better team than the Ace Ops. I wish more people were willing to use their brains like you, because it becomes obvious why Team RWBY won if you take a few minutes to think about it.

The difference between Team RWBY and the Ace Ops is that Team RWBY have mastered teamwork, while the Ace Ops haven’t.

It also helps that team RWBY and the Ace Ops already saw each other in action in the same episodes that the Ace Ops's internal division was first revealed, thus creating an extra vulnerability that the more united team RWBY had an easier time exploiting. And through all this, too much of the fanbase is still busy on "wElL wE dIdN't AcTuAlLy SeE tEaM rWbY tRaIn WiTh ThE aCe OpS. ThIs ScEnE mAkEs No SeNsE oThEr ThAn MoRe ChArAcTeR AsSaSsInAtIoN" Meanwhile, I'm just like: "....well, people already simp Ironwood to the point of me losing faith in online critics. Shouldn't really expect any better with his attack dogs either, I suppose. Or anything related to post-Monty RWBY, for that matter" **facepalms**

When batman fights bane and Deathstroke he struggles because they are vastly stronger than him and when he wins its cause he is more skilled. But when batman fights cass or shiva the fact batman is vastly stronger than them doesnt even come in to play or get considered.

To be fair with Dick becoming Batman was much better for Damian. What would have happend if Cassandra became Batman with Damian as Robin. I do not think that would have ended well.
