Confused. I get the formula for forecast but the number you got was Example: 10,576 (shown above for calculating next year demand) x 9.8% = 1054. So why did you input 1200 as your sales forecast for Traditional? (I understand using 15% more for how many products to produce but not sure why you did not use the number 1054 for your forecast number.

Good video, but can you also make one for Foundation since the reports are much different in Foundation.

John - great advice. I teach online at UT Dallas and do many of the same things. However, I play only with teams. I start off with 6 practice rounds where teams can work out issues and then 8 decision rounds which count for 10% of their grade. The teams then prepare a presentation of their successes and failures which also counts 10%. All of the team scores are adjusted by peer evaluations. At the end of the semester, I switch over to 6 individual Footrace rounds (also 10%) as a final check to see which students really learned the simulation. As you said, the students that understand the sim say that this is the best part of the course - and maybe their whole degree program.

Will - a great video. I have used Capstone for many years but always learn new things from you. I use the growth scenario since the recession scenario was too hard for some of my students. Concerning being different each year, I use Tournament against other student teams, so the results are always different since teams always play different. I sometimes use Footrace when I need results for each individual student. Since Footrace is played against computer teams, to make sure that students can't find good solutions online or from previous years, I use some customization such as varying the starting positions, etc. If students try to use previous decisions, they won't get good results.

This was extremely helpful. One question I had about your process was, why when forecasting best and worst-case scenarios for Europe do you not add together the estimated market share for both Budget and Performance as we did in the America's calculation. For Europe you suggested only calculating for the budget market share.

Jordan - a very good video. I ask my students to do a similar thing in their final sim presentation - to compare their emergent strategy with their original intended strategy.

You should buy capacity when you don't have enough to meet production levels for the next round. If the segment is growing at 16% per year then your capacity should be growing at the same rate.

capsim is a really shitty simulator. they don't even try to make it fun or realistic. it's just needlessly complicated

Here due to a WGU recommendation. Everything in the orientation was going pretty well until I made it to the situation analysis. The tutorial is HORRIBLE on Capsim. It gives a brief simple calculation, but doesn't explain how to calculate the rest of the charts well AT ALL. I'm basically having to guess my way through.

This is an embarrassing introduction to your product.
