Thanks for the video. My spring was still ther so I put it back and it worked. It took several times for it to stay on. But finaly it did stay on. But because of your video it actually worked. Best wishes amigo.

A million thanks. I know exactly now what I have to do and how much I should spend to fix my latch. Very well done and useful video. Have a great day Edit: Fixed! I was lucky the spring was inside and still attached to one hook. I just had to reattach it to the other hook. You saved me a lot of time and I didn't spend anything thanks to your video!

you rather not connect that micro-switch back. disadvantage is that when you open the trunk there be no light in the trunk. but can avoid draining battery in case of something wrong with the latch

Bad azz video!!! Same problem I have with "nightmare #2". Now, here is my issue, I ACTUALLY STILL HAVE THE SPRING I'm taking that it will be IMPOSSIBLE to put it back into the slot it belongs in! That's my guess. I just wanted to put that out there and now I'm headed to EBAY. HEY MAN, THANKS SERIOUSLY

You can re-attach the spring with a small screw driver. I would certainly try that first. Thanks for watching.

Thank You. The spring broke but I did not lose it. So I just fixed it but did not know where the spring goes. This helped a lot. It is like new now.

Thanks, just happened to wife's Passat, will go out and try to fix now. Helpful to know what i'm looking for, I have a spare Passat in the yard just in case. NB I like the cadence of your speech, I can follow it without having to keep pausing and rewinding.

Thanks for taking the time, much appreciated... now, to find that little bugger of a spring! Wondering it can fall out the bottom slot where striker enters or trapped inside mechanism! Will see, take care!!

By far best guide on what is going on with latch. That spring was somewhere down on carpet of your trunk for sure :) Glad you found cheap alternative.

Just bought a Jetta and the trunk wont stay shut. I'll be trying out your idea tomorrow. Hopefully it will do the trick. I'll let you know. Thanks for the video!

Thanks Rolf. Took the latch off and sure enough there was a broken and bent spring inside. Replaced it with one from a bag of misc springs I have and it's good to go! Much appreciated.

Schubert Rolf Hi Rolf, just an update. I bought the lock off of eBay, wrong size, the electrical component was the wrong size. Anyway I took the old lock off and followed your instructions and the spring was still inside but had come off of the latch. I used some heavy machinery called a thin box pen😀 and managed to re hook it. Put it back together and boom it works🌝. Thanks again for the video sir and have a great rest of your week 😃
