Qxf6 at move 13 was such a tempting move attacking knight & a pawn you missed 😅
Yup it was the best move as well
Caro kann is my favorite opening for black
Yeah me too, very simple to understand and very effective
Congrats on 1400! Keep up the hard work. I appreciate your videos
Thank you, Goodluck to you too!
A very nice caro like the engine said it ho c5 is one hundred percent the move once you can it does look scary when you take buy you can just block with your queen and you get your nice center structure. You did miss that free pawn and In thinking maybe it was because you didn't know what to do after taking it. Other than that though definitely a better caro. Id say it is a good idea to take a break if you feel like youre studying to much because soon you might over think moves and play bad. Always good to take a break. Definitely not a bad game but you did miss some winning tactics. You never made any bad moves though which is the most important. It's better to miss a winning tactic then to make a bad move.
got it! You agree that even sacking that c pawn is a good idea for development? Yea I have no clue where my mind was going when i missed the free pawn. For me chess, chess is one of the only things I am passionate about besides football, and I love playing but it kind of becomes a lot sometimes and I get so mad when I lose a game and play poorly. And thank you for your help again, i really do feel I am gaining a lot from you and am sort of carrying it out into my own games. A lot of work to be done tho to get to 1500 elo.
@@worstchessplayer-kr1pm so c5 isn't really sacking a pawn since you are almost guaranteed to get it back especially when you were wondering about queen check. Once he checks and you block with queen either has to take or move back losing a tempo so everything you did in the beginning was correct..playing a early c5 is theory that I don't know. if you watch Gotham chess he teaches that. But a delayed c5 is the idea behind the main line of the caro kann
@@the_adc i get what you are saying. I'm not super advanced yet but hope it get there if I work hard.
So like you said taking the bishop is definitely the right move in the beginning the point of the caro kann is to trade those light square bishops and fight for the dark squares. I would have played c5 sooner than you did to fight for the center. But what matters is you playing weird openings that aren't necessarily the best lines to see if you can mess your opponent up which you did so that was a good idea. You did have a losing position since you didn't take the bishop but your opponent didn't understand why it was a bad move. The main reason why it's a bad move is you weaken the pawn on f7 also something to note that I saw, after white queen to c3 you actually had a good move of pushing the d5 pawn to d4 guaranteeing that you can take the pawn on E4 so you calculated correctly up to the point in which you did miss d5 to d4, nevertheless it didnt matter since you capitalized on your idea which is what actually matters . You had a set idea and g Figured out how to make it work. That brilliant move was a lot better than the engine does it justice as well. Not only do you get a free pawn you also make really easy to miss threats for white. Now I will say you did not really play a good caro kann since you did delay c5 and allowed your structure to get messed up but It doesn't matter since you made it work. Also you noted that you missed pawn to g5 later In the position but there is a really good reason to think about why that's a good move. Not only does It weaken the center it also forces your opponent to open up files for your rook to work out later in. The end game. Stuff like c5 is higher rated moves but every so often you should think about how can I ruin the center or pawn structure even if it seemingly means losing a pawn. If your opponent did take that pawn the center would be ruined and you would have won a lot sooner.A very solid win. You definitely knew what to do a lot more than your opponent
Thank you a lot and next time I’ll know to take the white bishop when he plays that. I was just kinda wondering what would happen if that line happened. And yea I’m missing tactics I really should not be and got to consider more than a couple moves ahead. I played decently today, I missed one key tactic but had a set idea throughout the entire match and it paid off in the end.
So at 5:21 you had h3 since if he takes you take with queen and then not only is your bishop active you also have a target of the f pawn later down the road. You wanna take advantage of that open file and playing h4 either forces him to take it or just wastes a move for him in which you have an obvious target. The knight cannot move either so h3 is definitely the best move. Other than that you did miss some small stuff along with that winning position of queen check then rook takes pawn because of the x-ray. That was probably the most important thing that you missed. A simple but hard to see tactic. Puzzle rush should sort that out fr. Other than that and the mouse slip you played pretty well. Clearly you did have an idea of what to do. Id say a lot of times in a position where you can check a king and the king has to move especially if it's already castled Is pretty good. Very solid game. You didn't play any losing moves and you improved your position.
thank you! I did see that h3 move and I have been doing chess puzzles and puzzle rush and I have a calculation book I’ve been working on. And thank you once again for your advice, very much appreciated! I’m gonna upload another video soon where I did win in a caro kann, had difficulty on move 4 lol, but played very well and had a brilliant move which pretty much won on the spot. 20 move game rated like a 2050

How long you been playing

@@angelcarias1680 how's that been going and do you think it's worth it?
yo right now im at 1478 almost 1500. You can do it! I was at 1250 a month ago lol. I've realized the best way to win is to have a consistent opening for black and white so that you can get a good position in the middlegame. I'm more of an attacking player so I try to build up the pressure and pieces on one side of the board. A general rule is to always have 2 more attacking pieces than the opponents defending pieces. Good Luck!
Wow very impressive! Thank you! I just hit my highest elo 1379 right now and will take your advice for openings
@@worstchessplayer-kr1pm just wanted to say I usually play the scotch gambit or Vienna for white and always play the nimzowtch defense as black
great game and btw when did u start playing chess
I knew the rules when I was 8 but started trying last year
Just saw your comment as I was typing. A very good game played by you. You definitely had some chances but your fundamentals were on point. Now I personally play the scotch gambit if you wanna check that out, definitely works well for giving white some good winning chances if black doesn't know what they are doing. Once he pushed that pawn to e5 you don't always have to be worried about being down a pawn if it means you go for development. I would have played Bishop to c4 and if he takes you can always play KN F3 to target that pawn while also developing your position. Also a note, the engine is nice to use but it only tells you what the best move is and really doesn't tell you why. Once you hit the middle game your pawn in e4 was a constant weakness. You never really did guard it and same thing kinda happened where you were playing moves in response to what your opponent played instead of taking initiative. Once your bishop on c4 was trying to be traded off I would have moved it to guard the E4 pawn. Obviously wasn't the top engine move but it does give you a solid position. All of this is to say your openings seem to be where you struggle. Even if you did play the top engine moves in the beginning it really doesn't do much for you if you don't know how to capitalize on it and it seems like the player you played against knew what he was doing. Also knight to d2 doesn't actually prevent your bishop from being traded off nor does it really develop much since if he plays bishop to g5 you are kind of forced to take and then the thing you didn't want to do happens. You play really well and solidly but you don't give yourself chances to get winning positions. Playing defensive chess is very good but it's a lot harder to play since if you make a wrong move you are in a lot of trouble notice how in both games you never attacked his king and you let your king get attacked. Maybe try playing with higher rated players if you can. Honestly though. Just play a bit more aggressive. Interested to see how that would have played out if he didn't hang his queen. While it was even according to the engine, you definitely needed to do a lot more work to keep it even.
I am just pulling up my game right now to check your move suggestions. For your first comment about developing the bishop to c4, then he takes the pawn and the Nf3. I think I would be worried once he plays a move like Kf6 targeting my weak e pawn. Do you think it's worth the development for a pawn? I do understand what you mean when you say I was responding to his moves. I do not think it is like that in most games I play, I was just having an incredibly hard time having any ideas at all in trying to attack the king or get into better positions without giving up pawns. Do you think it's worth the time to get familiar with all these openings like the Nimzowitsch? I rarely see this which is why I think I got destroyed in the opening. I feel like once I make it out the opening, I generally do have good ideas to try to win. And once again, thank you for the time you spent on writing this comment as it probably took a long time for you to write, but I do genuinely appreciate that effort :) and I will take a look at the Scotch.
@@worstchessplayer-kr1pm ye so after kf6 it is the Scotch gambit game so ye I was showing a line for it. You push the pawn castle and then you'd have to know the lines. So just like a line for a gambit that can give you good ideas for attacking. As for getting used to openings not really but you should understand what each side is trying to do with the opening the nimzo is very positional so it mainly fights for the center. So yeah you don't really need to know specific lines but you should understand what the opening does for both you and the person you play against. Most people suggest the London system for white since it's very solid and can be played against pretty much any opening. Really it's up to you what you want to try out. also I do prefer development instead of a pawn, but some other people will say otherwise. I like playing complicated stuff that starts opening up tactics. That's just how I play.
@@the_adc thank you! I’m planning to take more risks and actually consider sacrifices so I play more aggressively and not boring chess like I have been
@@the_adc won again today with my favorite opening the Vienna gambit, thought I played solidly, but still have a lot of work and tactics to catch up on
@@worstchessplayer-kr1pm nice! Always good to win. Tactics will always be something to work on for everybody. As long as you keep at it youll get it!! Would be nice to see a video
A couple of things to think about. Your knight on the side of the board was pretty useless. After knught c6 at 4:27 and then the pawn push, I would have played knight b4 targeting the pawn on the a file was also being able to move your knight to the middle of the board where it's more active. You could have also put your bishop on b7 to d5 before then. Your queen was also very inactive since it was stuck guarding the pawn on the c file. You also did in fact have the fork since if he took your pawn with his knight you could moved the queen to c8 and there would still be the fork. Now that would still probably be pretty much equal since the pawn you are guarding will eventually get taken since your peices are still inactive. You were playing a bit to much of blind chess in the beggining and let the other person play how he wanted to play. Playing a bit to defensive. You still could have tied though like you pointed out. Not a bad game but you definitely did have some chances
Thank you for the insight and yea I do get what you are saying. It’s gonna take time but I’m hoping to implement better ideas like you mentioned into my game. Thanks for watching and giving me tips. Much appreciated 👍🏽
@@the_adc hi is it ok if you can briefly review my game I’m about to upload. I guess I played like a 2000 even though I didn’t have any real ideas to attack and had to defend for the majority of the time. Is there anything you can point out that went wrong?
Any tips or anything like that would be very appreciated as I am actually working hard to try to achieve this goal.
So id highly recommend learning your openings more you had some lines in which it gets complicated for white but you let him just slowly smother you in the opening. I also recommend paying more open positions since the more closed it is the more complicated it gets and the higher chance you make some mistakes. You won the game pretty nicely but I also noticed you do miss some tactics. Play puzzle rush. Helps with tactics..other than that though it was a pretty solid game.
@@the_adc thank you, that’s an awesome response and will be trying to take your advice in future games.
I went from 1300 to 1600 elo in a month from taking a notebook and writing down every opening i play against and watching grandmasters play against it. I highly recommend doing that.

Good game buddy. When you do your review have a good look at the opening so you know what to do against it the next time you see it. I’ve been playing for a year. I would recommend analyzing your games, losses are better. Pick one or two openings that you know well for both black and white. Understand all the endgames, lichess has a specific section with that. Puzzles are a good way, lichess is free. I bought a book called the woodpeckers method that helps with calculations too.
