@@Portie2216 haha that sounds like a good day, little nitrous is good for everyone!
Thanks for sharing and your support, I finally had time to upgrade my rear window in my 2019 Ford F-350 XLT DRW to a power sliding rear window. And it works. Your video and advice save me a few dollars by not going to the dealership, lol. One final question, as far as the switch in the console, I ran 1) to power, 2&3) to the rear. But I didn’t run 6) for ground. Would that affect anything long term? Once again thanks a lot for sharing!!!
@alvinjarrett7642 Congrats!!!! Really nice upgrade!!! We are not experts at wiring but it wouldn't hurt to have everything grounded. It is a low voltage circuit, better to be safe than sorry. I grounded it to a neutral line in the headliner, I believe the dome lights or something like that. Glad to help and hope you enjoy the upgrade!
I agree- the original seem to be the better performer
From Mick: @user-dx4lt4fs6b - thanks for watching. I agree the UV-5R definitely reached out the 37.2 miles better than the other two.
I was pulling a trailer that I had checked the lights before leaving the house. I was far from home and noticed the tail lights were not working so I stopped and checked. No turn signals either. BAD. I tried everything I knew to fix the lights but nope. Thankfully O'Reilleys was nearby and I bought a set of these magnetic lights and got it working. There were some nasty bumps on the way home so I also used zip ties to make sure those lights were going to stay put. I suspect most auto parts stores have those so if you happen to need emergency trailer lights give those a try. The next day I learned the plywood side had put pressure on the wiring harness such that it actually cut the wires at a spot where the metal tubing had an open spot. The tubing needed to make a corner bu the previous owner evidently didn't like bending tubing so it was left exposed. My fix was to run all new PVC tubing fastened to the chassis and run new wires through that.
From Mick: @unclemikeb - Glad a quick set of mag lights kept you from a possible ticket, good quick thinking to check an auto parts store for a set of mag lights!!!
Thanks for the video! One of the best out there for Tiptronic fluid change. I have a 997.1 Turbo with Tiptronic and it appears the process is the same (slightly different parts though) Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks for uploading the video and being true with the challenges you ran into. This will certainly help individuals like myself as I attempt to change the filter and fluid. Cheers!
@kimlee9917 - THANK YOU!! It's always an adventure - glad to share and hope it helps! Good luck with the fluid change on the Turbo!!!
during the running of the engine weren't you supposed to to go through all the gears both times? I didn't see you doing it the last time and could be that is why the expanded warm oil was dripping
@majorrgeek - that is a good point! I did not do that, and the repair manual does not specify that you do that after the initial heat up of the fluid. I have gone back and checked afterward, and it took just a very slight amount of additional fluid, basically followed the instructions again to heat it up (go through the gears and get to 30C and before 40C). As info here is the instructions from the repair manual I have: WM 370235 CHECKING AND TOPPING UP ATF (ALL MODELS) > INFORMATION > TEST CONDITIONS Information Always pay particular attention to the following before raising the vehicle: * Deactivate the levelling system before raising the vehicle (press and hold the levelling system button for at least 10 seconds). * If a transmission range is engaged while the vehicle is raised, the levelling system must first be deactivated using PIWIS Tester II 9818 . To do this, select >>Levelling system/PASM<< >>Drive links/checks<< >>Activate/deactivate vehicle<< in the control unit overview. Select the value "Deactivate levelling system (permanently)" and press "Start" [F8] to execute the function. Re-activate the levelling system when the work is complete. To do this, select the value "Activate levelling system" in the same menu item and press "Start" [F8] to execute the function. * Transmission must not be in limp-home mode. * Warm up transmission in lower load range. Switch all transmission ranges several times while doing so. * Read out the ATF temperature using PIWIS Tester II 9818. * ATF temperature: 30 - 50 °C. * Selector lever is in position P. * Parking brake actuated. * Test and filling process at idle speed. * Air conditioning and heating switched off. * The ATF temperature must not be higher than 30 °C at the beginning of the test. * If the ATF temperature is higher than 30 °C, let the transmission cool down.
Further - here is another section that addresses checking and topping off ATF: Information * Read out the ATF temperature using PIWIS Tester II 9818. * The ATF temperature must not be higher than 30 °C at the beginning of the ATF test. * The ATF level changes as the ATF temperature changes. * Perform ATF test when the engine running and selector lever in position P. * An ATF test performed when the ATF temperature is too low will result in overfilling. * An ATF test performed when the temperature is too high will result in insufficient filling. * An ATF level that is too high or too low will impair the function of the transmission. Information * The ATF level is checked at the ATF inspection plug. * The ATF level is correct if a small amount of fluid still emerges at the ATF inspection plug at an ATF temperature of between 30° and 50 °C. Information Always pay particular attention to the following before raising the vehicle: * Deactivate the levelling system before raising the vehicle (press and hold the levelling system button for at least 10 seconds). * If a transmission range is engaged while the vehicle is raised, the levelling system must first be deactivated using PIWIS Tester II 9818. 1. Read off the ATF temperature on PIWIS Tester II 9818 while the engine is running. 2. Leave engine running at idle speed. 3. Place oil collection pan underneath. 4. Fill manual metering pump Manual metering pumps HDP 500 Porsche WE 1372 with ATF for the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). 5. Check and top up ATF. 5.1. When an ATF temperature of 30 °C is reached, unscrew the ATF inspection plug 5.2. If ATF emerges from the ATF control opening before the ATF temperature has reached 40 °C, the ATF level is OK. 5.3. If no ATF emerges at a temperature of up to 40 °C, add ATF using manual metering pump HDP 500 Porsche WE 1372 until ATF emerges. Information 1. The ATF inspection plug must be 1. closed again at 50 °C at the latest. 2. Switch off the engine if necessary, let the transmission cool down and repeat the test. 6. Screw in and tighten new ATF inspection plug with a new sealing ring. Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 ftlb.)
Hi, how many miles range can it reach?
From Mick: I’ve hit a repeater 36 miles away but distance all depends on line of sight, obstructions, hills, trees, buildings, etc. I would guess radio to radio through woods 1.5- 2 miles.
As far as the relays goes, I see that your using two, that has five slots each. Do you plug into all five slots? 1)switch in. 2)power in.3)out to motor. 4)ground. 5) ?
@alvinjarrett7642 here is the layout I had: Relay 1 (close) 85 - to close on overhead switch 87 - to 87 on close relay 87a - to ground 86 - to ground 30 - to close on window motor Relay 2 (open) 85 - to open on overhead switch 87 - to 87 on close relay and power in fusebox 87a - to ground 86 - to ground 30 - to open on window motor Let me know if that helps!
@@Portie2216
@@Portie2216so which one do you run power to?
So I see that in relay 2(open), 87-to 87 on close relay and power in firebox. Do, firebox means the power wire from the fuse box? Also, last question do recommend 10, 15, or 30 amp fuse?
Run power to 87 on relay 2 (open), also splice that with the wire that is running to 87 on relay 1 (closed) - sorry firebox was an auto correct, it's fusebox (corrected it in the original reply) Looking online they suggest a 30 amp fuse.
Look really well!!, do you find these lights get really hot? Hot enough to melt the covers or bumper?
They do definitely get hot. I haven’t run them with the covers on for over a few minutes - I read online they will melt the plastic covers. No issues with the bumpers melting though!
Some people claim you have to recalibrate the transmission. What kind of junk is that?
@MrNanah38 - yeah I haven't heard about doing that, so far so good though! Thanks for watching!!!

Check out the Baofeng AR-5RM. It's supposedly an unlocked version of the new one.
From Mick: @GaryTrujilo-mh7el, thanks for watching and giving me the heads up on the new radio. I’m might have to check it out. 73’s.
I have both. The TD-H3 is a handy little kit with internal Bluetooth and the ability to be programed with a cellphone app. Not sure why you needed a dongle. The second gen H8 is fantastic as well... but doesn't have internal Bluetooth... so you can use the dongle for programing that HT. BTW... I own several Baofengs and find them to be well made for the price.
From Mick: @imxploting, thanks for the comment, you are right, you do not need the dongle, another comment noted same thing, I tested today and worked great. I’m always learning new stuff about these radios.
@@Portie2216 Hopefully the next generation of the H8 has the same feature!
Your name really threw me for a loop for a second! Haha
@Potriesgarage OMG ME TOO!!!! I just thought I got hacked!!!! HAHA Sorry about it being so close to your handle - I tried a search before starting and didn't see yours. Nice channel BTW!
@Portie2216 haha thats halarious All good! Keep up the good work! And thanks you to!
Hello, this is very challenging but I have a few questions 1.) which 4 wires from the pigtale connector to use. 2.) where do the hot and Grd wire from the pigtail go to. 3.) what’s the order of the slots on the relay. Thanks in advance
@alvinjarrett7642 - For the pigtail connector: pin 1 is hot for the switch light, pin 2 and 3 go back to the sliding glass, pin 4 and 5 are unused, pin 6 is ground for the switch light. That is looking at the back of the pigtail connector with the clip facing up - starting with pin 1 on the left. The hot and ground from the pigtail - I just spliced them into some existing wires nearby for other illuminated switches - you can see on the video around 1:21 in. I wish I could post a pic of the relay wiring (can't post pics in comments) but I did show it on the video around the 2:40 mark - It was a bit of a tough time to figure out at first so try to mock it up and use a 12v power supply to test like I show in the video - it helps to test before you install. Let me know if you have further questions and good luck!!!!
Thanks Sir, I feel like I’m getting one step closer to getting this done.
Thanks for the video. Great content!
Thank you 🙏 and thanks for watching!!!! 👍🏻
I thought that the Tid Radio had Bluetooth built in. I don’t understand the reason for the dongle ? When you had the Baofeng UV-5R there I expected to see if you could hit the repeaters that were unsuccessful with the Tid. I hope that you do this test in the future. Thanks for the presentation.
From Mick: @bulldogbrower6732, thanks for watching. I found out you are correct about the internal Bluetooth. I was reviewing two GMRS/FRS radios sent to me (TD-M11, watch for video soon) and found they have internal BT. I tested the TD-H3 and it connected to the app the same and read the radio. So you are right, no need for the dongle. I’ll plan on a video testing three radios for connection to distance repeaters and receive quality. Thanks again.
Just bought a 2011 RL from a coworker. I had never heard of them. Very nice little cars. Mine has 156k and all maintenance has been kept up on. Gonna go ahead and do tranny fluid, I don’t suppose you have a video on that?
@zachderr213, first off, great purchase, the RL is one of the best cars I’ve owned, even after it’s been abused by my daughter. We are over 220k miles with very few problems. Great car!! I replaced the trans fluid back in 2021. Not too hard to do, make sure you can remove fill plug which is under the main fuse box. Two bolts and a clip to move fuse box then clear access to fill plug. Drain plug easy to get to, may need breaker bar. Maybe I’ll do a walk through showing process. Would that help? What is your time frame, car is currently at college
Can you connect this pccm to the existing cd player?
@wng0000071 - that is a good question! Looking online I did not see where a CD player or even the stock CD changer will work with the PCCM+. I did find this that says the CD Changer CDC-4 will NOT work - assets-v2.porsche.com/int/-/media/Project/PCOM/SharedSite/PorscheClassic/Product-Highlights/PCCM/Manuals/FAQ/FAQs_PCCM-Plus_9x7_E1_EN_2023.pdf Anyone else try this that can comment for @wng0000071???
Have you tried the UV 17R Pro, & the UV 21 Pro?
From Mick: @marcchinnock5525, I have not used the UV 17R Pro and UV 21 Pro. I like both Baofengs that I have and really like a new one TD-H3, check out our review video just released: TIDRadio vs. Baofeng: TD-H3 vs UV-5R....Tell Me Who Wins!!!! czcams.com/video/KxzX0COzn38/video.html
Are the Baofeng UV5RM, UV17R Pro, & UV21RPro all comparable?
Will have to look into this - more product reviews coming, stay tuned!!!
UV17s are not good. Other B.f. radios are better.
Great ideas, thank you
From Mick: @wsmith1213, thank you for watching and the nice comment, hope you get your rig set up nicely. 73’s
Thanks for the informative video, helps me compare options
Glad the video helped, this radio does have some nice features
amluc head unit
@amlucstereo - I am upgrading a 1999 Boxster if you have a product that will work let me know and I'll consider it!
Great video, really like your section on programming with Bluetooth. Keep it up mick!
From Mick: @Hdizzle2, programming repeaters with the Bluetooth dongle is a very easy way to add repeaters while traveling
After filling the fluid first and second time, weren’t you supposed to be putting the plug in? I saw that you didn’t, and I wonder if that’s OK.
@MSN-82 - I didn't read where you had to reinstall the inspection plug in between so I didn't. It definitely wouldn't hurt to do that though. This is what I show in the repair manual: 5. Check and top up ATF. 1. When an ATF temperature of 30 °C is reached, unscrew the ATF inspection plug 2. If ATF emerges from the ATF control opening before the ATF temperature has reached 40 °C, the ATF level is OK. 3. If no ATF emerges at a temperature of up to 40 °C, add ATF using manual metering pump HDP 500 Porsche WE 1372 until ATF emerges. Information: 1. The ATF inspection plug must be closed again at 50 °C at the latest. 2. Switch off the engine if necessary, let the transmission cool down and repeat the test. 6. Screw in and tighten new ATF inspection plug with a new sealing ring. Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 ftlb.) Hope this helps!

Will this install and wiring concept works on a 2019 F-350 SD, XLT
@alvinjarrett7642 - I don't see why not - I believe the back glass is the same and the wiring is more or less standalone so it shouldn't be an issue, but I'd measure your back glass and the potential replacement glass to make sure. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!
Yes the glass fit, I noticed that I have two harness that’s not connected to any thing right below the rear window. But they don’t fit into the window motor. I contacted Ford to see if my 2019 F-350 XLT, was pre wired to support a rear sliding window. But of course they want me to bring it in, and they want $200, just to look at it. Do you have a close up shot of how you run the two relays to the window motor. Thanks for your time
Aren’t you glad I spotted that? 😂
