Yeah that 400 ft range is only if the probe is on a table with direct sight with the base. If it’s buried in a roast in a smoker Typhur support says it’s 32 feet max. Deceptive marketing.
To enhance the user experience, Typhur has optimized and upgraded. In our tests, we achieved a range of 135 feet in enclosed spaces and 400 feet in open spaces with light obstacles.
FYI this is from Typhur support. Their specs say the probes have up to 400 feet range. It’s not true. Verify Proximity Between Base and Probe: Ensure that the distance between the base and the probe is not too far. If the distance exceeds 10 meters/32 feet, the probe and base may repeatedly attempt to connect, leading to intermittent disconnection issues.
To enhance the user experience, Typhur has optimized and upgraded. In our tests, we achieved a range of 135 feet in enclosed spaces and 400 feet in open spaces with light obstacles. If you have more questions about the transmission range or reconnecting the device, you can contact Typhur support to see if a replacement is needed.

@@ankushgulati it has been brought up to a temperature where any bacteria or viruses that would give you food poisoning are gone, I can understand not wanting a steak that has the texture/look or “raw” meat but this is fine to eat and probably has more flavour than any other steak you could make if you can just get past the looks. The red isn’t even blood it’s just water and myoglobin that normally all gets cooked out and that is where a lot of flavour is, hence why red tastes better (typically), There is no blood left in the animal after butchering.

Appreciated. But it's perfect to eat, it's been cooked to a temperature that's eliminated any harmful bacteria or viruses. Though it may have the appearance of raw meat, it's perfectly safe to eat and likely more flavorful than your typical steak. The red you see isn't blood; it's water and myoglobin, which often contribute to a steak's taste.
Butter or oil during sous vide cooking will extract flavor from the meat. Do a blind taste test with and without and you will taste a more beefy flavor without.
