I believe most disks are stainless.. even though they rust... Stainless steel’s rust protection depends on the amount of chromium it contains. Less chromium near the surface, less chromium oxide layer cannot be reformed when the top layer is damaged. Step one... DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL with Stainless... What you will do is scratch the surface with the steel and leave traces behind... which has NO chromium content, so will rust... worse than what you cleaned off with it!! But thats ok... Use a PLASTIC scourer pad. Almost as abrasive as it's steel (or stainless steel wool) cousins, but will not scratch the surface. Step two... Use Stainless cleaner (phosphoric acid-based.... Warning... note the word ACID and take appropriate precautions)... Test the acid on the disk (if the disk is actually just steel... hilarity may ensue using acid on it). You can also use a fine sandpaper (as fine a grit as you can get, 200 plus, wet & dry) after the plastic scourer... Use the paper on a sheet of glass (spray adhesive like Ados helps... if you have a 2nd sheet of glass, sandwich the sandpaper while the glue sets... Wet the paper, slow running hose works... keep the whole disk on the paper, Puy your palm on it and move it in smallish circles so you don't get a repeated pattern on the faces... Don't use WD40.. you can permeate the steel with oils that even brake clean doesn't get, but float up to the surface when the disk gets hot... Don't forget to clean your pads (Brake Clean and a soaking in spirit (I use Meths in a tiny plastic container and shake it up) then brake clean again... dry often with paper towels. You can even give them a sanding (higher grit here)... If your disk has a lip on the outer edge you may need to step up the grit on the glass... Good luck...

How many times have you maintained the trek fuel ex 7? By maintained I mean; how many times have you greased the pivot points and how many times have you serviced the shock.
