This could do with more commentary. The cameraman is trying to show us something but it is not clear what his cracked out camera movements are for.
I REALLY appreciate you making this video. I've been nervous about buying parts that don't fit right. I'm specifically trying address 2 ltd models. I really thank you for this! That was wildly helpful
Can i use this to apply fender vintage tuner into a modern 2 pins headstock?
She can handle my nuts anytime she wants… That’s acoustically and classically on my 2 guitars.. obv…
I swapped my Classic Vibe VI to ratios. Squires that come with vintage style tuners have 8.75 holes, not the 10 of modern or Graphtechs 8 to 8.25 vintage. The bushing was a half mil too small. I may order a set of 8.75s but for now i used a thin strip of aluminum tape, about an inch by 4 mil, wrapped bushings so the tap just overlapped . Pressed in, stayed. Use too much , 2 full wraps, and it will creep back out. 1.5 wraps of 4 to 5 mil of aluminum foil tape. Fit the 8.75 hole perfectly. Use a little thinner and place in middle of bushing when wrapping. Not all the way touching either rim if yoy want it to stay put. Been months and still solid. Shims the bushing with no putty, no plates, perfect match. I swear my set came missing a screw though. Feel stupid ordering just a screw. Probably should have checked if existing bushings fit. Hoped they sold an alternate set of bushings for squires 8.75 holes. 8 to 8.25 just fell right out.
I'm talking about the skeleton style vintage ratios.
Need a nut for ltd viper
All this talk about nuts and blanks lengths thickness base 😂😂😂 lubrication is key with my best nut slots 😂
I ordered the black XL for my dad's old Yamaha. He'd be happy that I was using it instead of staring at it
a good presenter and awful non-music track ...
Less than 10minutes? It was less than 30 seconds! !
i have own 2 YAMAHA vintage acoustic guitar.. can suggect which kind I must use NUT & SADDLE from GraphTech??
cheers mate...i'm a bit out of breath now...and yup...i've replaced practically all parts incl electrics and pickups on my 2 prs's....SE singlecuts....good little guitars....if i had seen your video a bit earlier i might have given your parts a "shot......might try your "nuts"....
I installed my TUSQ nut myself on my Strat and while I paid attention to the first fret action numbers I went by feel and avoided buzzing as I sanded down the height of the nut bottom gradually and restrung and rechecked all the strings by pushing down the third fret and then checking the first fret gap. Once I was comfortable that I wasn't going too far and it was comfortable playing it, I tuned up, set up and intonated the guitar and played it for a while before deciding to glue the nut in place.
I have 1984 Made in Japan Stratocaster ( not a Squire)...any idea what the Radius is.
Usually they are 7.25”, but there may be some exceptions … the GT model , pre-slotted is PQL-5072-00 or PT-5072-00 graphtech.com/search?q=7.25
Can the ghost piezo be used WITHOUT a preamp?????
No. It requires a 9V (active) for it to run/operate.
You should learn to play first of all
Are the ratio tuners different per scale length? Or is it just standard for the gambit
I'm going through the process right now, but I have a curved nut slot. How can I file the bottom of the nut (I already filed the little nub out) while keeping the correct radius?
Great video and very helpful. Which Strat year and model is that? Need it in my life.
Great process, just sad we can’t see anything. Prime example is at 10:58. Am literally making assumptions about what she’s doing because everything is distant and obscured
Hello, I need the info for the right nut replacement for my Epiphone LP MKH Origins Custom, what Graphtech nut is right for my guitar?
When you sand down the thickness of the nut, you mentioned to sand down the front of the nut; is the front of the nut, the side facing the saddle, or the side facing the tuner? It's hard to tell by watching the video.
AWESOME
I have never seen this extra mini fret on the humbucker before this is so cool! Awesome Song!
Nice! I just got this axe! It's amazing stock. I'm sure it's buttery smooth with these. Is the nut available pre slotted? 🤘🤪👍
That's interesting that you recommend using wood glue. I'm not a luthier by any means, but I've done a few nut changes on my guitars. And the one time I used wood glue the nut actually came off when changing the strings. Haha I was angry about it, use super glue ever since. Just a little.
What is the maximum tension that these tuners can handle?
Ukulele strings are usually around the 10lbs tension mark , the tune a leles can hold up to 40 lbs tension when strung properly … windings going down the post
How is it even humanely possible to measure a gap that is as tiny as 0.06 inches? That's one quarter of a milimeter!?
Where can I get a harness replacement for a schecter omen extreme 6 left handed?
What about radius?
Did you say the body was chambered?
Me and my dad just did some good work to my squirt Strat, which was my first guitar I got around age 8, but we put some black locking tuners on, a new black wammy bar cause the old one broke, and some rolling string trees, and today I got some nice black tone/volume knobs and black toggle switch tip along with a set of black pick up covers!! They look awesome with the pick guard and coloration of the guitar and it sounds great now too since we bought new strings!! The black totally gives a better look compared to the white imo
Thanks for uploading. I learned that I'm gonna seek a luthier rather than DIY. 🤔
Where oh where is the statement that indicates the video is in Japanese possibly rather than English as all the wording for the video including the title is in English. What gives??!!
Do you offer a course in asiatic languages? That would make it so much easier…
Of course - it sounds amazing - but how did you deal with the huge finger noise that piezos pick up? Is eliminating this noise a function of the Graphtec system?
I can’t work out what drugs you’re on. Definitely class A though.
Alošinac , Serbian?
Good video but it's essential to have close up footage for this type of work.
Thank you just if you don't mind me asking how do you choose the the right radius and the right nut slots gauge for a specific strings gauge since on the graph tech website it is not showing certain nuts for a specific strings gauges!! And lastly the website is showing the black nuts has much better results with tone and sustainability is it related to the Teflon amount % presence or other factors !! Thank you best regards from ENGLAND.
One of the best well explained, simplified, systematic, and by a professional luthier demonstrated video. Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge and experience best regards from ENGLAND.
Be aware: The Graph Tech nut 6642 does not fit LTD Guitars. I have an MH-1000, H-1000 and an EC-1000 and on all of them the nut sits too low.
They only have to say that because she's a woman. "..Master" Luthier.. 🤭
How is the PT-6643-00 a replacement for the Holcomb signature since the radius on that fretboard is 20”? From my understanding, 6643 fits the radius on 10”
Can these work with steel strings ?I know theyare for ukuleles.
Well, we have some people with various string instruments around the world using them with steel strings.. light gauges... not what they were intended for, but in most, but not all cases, they work.
@@GraphTechGuitarLabs thank you great to know, I've bought some for a nylon uke so may try them on my light guage steel string Panjo.
WTF?
I mean to me the highlight was the string unwinding. Ruined it with the string winder!!!! LOL. Great video!
Just replaced the nut on my PRS! Great video - thank you! The nut I ordered from Graphtec fit perfect - just a little sanding to lower the action. I used to put graphite on the string guides - dont need to with this nut!
Glad it helped
Thanks
