Hi. I have a Yamaha FX HO. Another user said he recommends the black anchor over the blue one in areas where there may be more waves and current. We definitely see 2 feet of chop regularly and decent current on the regular. Do you think a black anchor, or stay with blue?
your never get the anchor to set with just a rope, unless your lucky. That is why the RODE of an anchor is chain. I use a nylon mesh bag with a 5ish LB rock in it and it holds. I can drag if and you just don't show good anchoring.
Are you using a solid braid on those anchors in the video?
The part at 1:06 is what i was looking for. Nobody teaches you this stuff when first boating. Thanks man!!!
Will filling my cooper anchor with lead weight help the anchors performance? Cant get my head around on how light it is.
6m boat with 2m of chain wtf , fail dude not for fishing in 30m with 2 knot tide , our 20ft boat weight 3 tonne
I use 1 length of chain same as boat length at the anchor, no ifs or buts!
Very happy with my Cooper anchor. I'm using the small red one with a Yamaha Waverunner. You might be thinking that it's too small - but it works really well, with 2M of 6mm chain and about 6M of rope. Holds very well. My Waverunner only weighs about 250kg, but I'm really impressed with the little red anchor. I have the blue one as well, but I find that it's easier to store the red anchor in my ski's storage compartment.
Thanks for sharing guys, great helpful video, Ra K UK 🇬🇧 YNWA.
Does it matter much what type of rope used if one uses the chain method, when tying the chain a boat length away from the anchor? The nylon ropes are expensive, so I was wondering if you felt maybe poly ropes would work as well with the chain. Thx
Thanks for sharing this. I'm buying my cooper anchor today.
Bowlines and anchoring should never be mentioned in the same breath. Never use bowlines with anchors.
If you make anchors you might want to learn how to pronounce catenary... If I'm being really getting anal if say you should be in the game of calling anchor rope 'rode', since its an instructional vid.
what size shackle fits the blue anchor for jet ski?
Will the Cooper 2.2 Lbs anchor anchor well a larger size 4.4 mtr boat/motor combo which weights max 500 Kg.. A 1.5 meter long 8 mm chain and a 30 meter 8 mm rope will be attached to it. Will be anchoring in sand at not more than 5 meter depths Thoughts ?
We recommend the 1.5Kg Cooper Anchors for a 4.4m boats. Thanks.
AGUANTE LA ISIK EN LA ARGENTINA
we anchor in feet...so....!???
We usually anchor in water... does it hurt your feet?
what do we look,up to order one???
Hey kevin, cooperanchors.com
That was good mate Ive just gone down to a smaller boat 5 and a half mtr because I'm getting older weaker and all that crap so your anchors do look great for everyone Who needs heavy for the sake of it Ill be looking into your stuff Be safe all and the best of luck with your product, At last, something new and interesting to look into
Thanks Peter.
I have a new invention the "SandWedJ" this being beneficial in sand & mud when used on grapnel type anchors, grapnel anchors generally used as the main anchor for many weekend fishermen and as a secondary anchor for most other applications. sanadwedj.com.au . I have a 1/3 size in production for use with Kayak grapnel's ... Thoughts?
Scope is completely dependant on conditions
How about a tutorial on pulling the anchor up with a jetski safely?
We filmed a series of videos of jetski, kayak and boat in one day last year..... but we lost all of the sound. So we'll film again very soon
Hey guys I have a 2.5m tinnie which one do you recommend thank you
Man I don't know if I can comment, but I have a new 3metre Polycraft and got the blue one which haven't used yet but it looks big enough for mine, I could tell that it would be mint that I gave away my branded BFC one. Bought after seeing a big heavy as Jetski pulling theirs in and asked about it. Yet again can't comment as haven't used yet but would say the blue 1kg
Just get a steel one
Is the kayak anchor still heavy enough to set in depths up to 50 ft for ocean fishing?
Great video, thanks for posting!
Awesome video man, I was wondering why I kept dragging my anchor..lol
why i m watching this.. i don't have a boat.... but great advice about the angle at the beginning
Well get the anchor, will give you incentive to get a boat haha
Carlo for the win
6m rope and chain lol watch for the rocks and the ramp more scoop more drifting.
Gr8 video I am off to buy one for my waverunner
From Newcastle, fish from my little kayak in Lake Macquarie and the Hunter River. Very helpful video, I have the red model. I will change the setup after watching this video, seems I don't have enough chain, also might try the short chain a couple of metres from the anchor method as I have had issues with the anchor dragging in current. Great product, you guys rock!
Which one should I get for my 18ft Hobiecat? It's 5.5m obviously, but at 180kg considerably lighter than same length monohulls.
Ive got the little red one with 3 metres of light gal chain and about 15 m of rope. Works awesome on my kayak in about 5 metres of swift flowing river. If i want to go deep i just add another 15 m of rope
I think here is a lot of common sense there. i'm not sure if you thought about the stretchy anchorplait. There is always a compromise, and a big difference twix anchoring a big windage vessel in a Force 10 and dropping a wee plastic anchor from a kayak, where the boater is in attendance and is just stopping for a break,
Save weight by using a plastic anchor. Then tie a ton of chain to it, LOL
Hi Tom, Thanks for watching. Im not sure if you watched the whole video though. We tried to explain in detail a few ways of setting up the rope/chain to minimize the amount of chain needed, even how to set up using no chain at all. We'll be shooting more videos soon so any help now would be appreciated. If there is something that we missed or could explain better we would like to know, Clear information is our goal and we're always interested in improving.
I have over 60 years boating experience, and have used anchors ranging from gallon cans of concrete to Rocnas and Mansons. I have used manila, nylon, poly, wire rope, and chain rodes, with kellicks and various chain sections. I have anchored kayaks and Panamax freighters. There are 2 considerations I suggest you think about. In small vessels, I have found by practice that if you add up the weight of the anchor plus the chain, it is often more effective to just use an anchor of that weight with a nylon rode. Also, in a heavy blow, the rode usually goes strait, even chain becoming like a rigid bar. In that circumstance, the anti shock value of the chain is gone, and all you have is the small anchor, where if you went with rope rode and larger anchor, you have a better grip on the bottom. I suggest that you try a set up with no chain, but the heavier anchor equal to the combined chain/anchor weight. With your light anchors, you should get a lot of added holding power for the weight of the chain, if you can achieve the penetration necessary. I suspect you will do great in sand, rocks, or mud, not so hot on oyster bars.
tom jackson great advice, when will you be distributing your anchors tom?
@@tomjeffersonwasright2288 you should start your own youtube channel

Just because Americans say "aluminum" doesn't make it right. It's ALUMINIUM.
I'm American, and it was originally aluminium, the word was later changed to aluminum because Americans kept mispronouncing it
Meters dont last in the USA We do feet and inchs, thanks for keeping the pond spread clear
What a lgnorant! There is a world outside the USA And there is measureddd in meters Crawl back under Mr. Trump's skirt !!
no one likes the states, thats the funny thing, you guys think you are well loved and think your country is awesome, when the rest of the world is laughing at how stupid you are
Yep, you're the exception to the rule, one of the 3 countries in the whole world! (U.S., Liberia and Myanmar. Great company to be in!)🤣🤪😵💫 Now, why would that be?🤔
Yeah, let's all adapt and change our ways to suit the 3 countries in the world that DON'T use metric for measurements. Because... America.
Will the small one be fine for one of those 3m inflatable rafts/zodiacs?
Thank you Sir for these information.
Also doubles as a wicked war club for gators lol
might void the warranty....
what happens if I'm in a kayak and its rooky where I'm fishing or on a reef !!!!!!!!!!!! ????????????????
Hi Athyn's Adventures, Have a look at our other video which explains how to "trip" your anchor. And I briefly explain it at the end of the video above. Anywhere other than reef you should hook up your rope and chain as normal.czcams.com/video/oIjhYUiAUw0/video.html
Where can I buy one
Hi Angel Diaz, If you are in Australia you can buy them just about anywhere you can by boat/watercraft accessories. Everywhere else in the world you can go to our website www.cooperanchors.com and have anchors delivered to your door.

Pozdrawiam z Poland

what is the size ofbthat chain u were using?
HI, There are 4 different sizes of chain that we used in the video. Check out the link in the description above for more information about chain size for your anchor.
Will using chain with this anchor help to secure my jet ski in choppy condition
+Andrew Spark Hi Andrew, Yes it definitely will. The most common cause for any anchor to struggle in choppy water is not enough scope. I can't post the document here in the comments but if you check out our website www.cooperanchors.com.au on the Technical Info page there is an anchoring guide that will explain your options. Option B is what we recommend for most Jetskis.Thanks. Jon Cooper
I had a copper anchor for my jet ski it was working really well in calm condition. But not so well with the waves. So would adding some chain help.

I saw this first on ABC-TV New Inventors (Australia) via podcast (episode 08, 2010). Brilliant guys!!! I want one! The moment I'm back from OS, I'll be ordering one for use with my kayak.
