    This is honestly not the best fix. 1. The P3 Volvos are known to have a problem with the windshield adhesive failing. This is a safety issue that likely requires total windshield replacement. 2. The sunroof drains get clogged and need to be unclogged with compressed air. 3. Silicone will probably cause the car to rust. 4. It is easy to remove the flooring in the front then let it dry out. 5. It is most likely the water is leaking through the top of the windshield and/or overflowing in the sunroof and not through the side areas of the windshield.

    • @EverydayWorkshop
      @EverydayWorkshop Před 3 dny

      If your engine is making a noise there is certainly an issue. Firstly is the oil level on the maximum. When you start the engine does the oil light go out. I would check something isn’t catching around the pulley area. If you are in doubt that the engine has oil pressure I wouldn’t run the engine anymore and get a mechanic to investigate. Hope you get the issue sorted.

    Thanks a lot. The main dealer told me they’d checked and cleaned the drains, yet still water was coming into the boot when it rained. Quickly checked now and it’s blocked. Now I know how to get the side panel off safely, will myself at the weekend.

      That’s great I’m really pleased I’ve helped, thank you. That is why you shouldn’t go to a main dealer unless you have to. Going to a reputable independent garage you get a much better job done, they have much more to loose. Whereas a dealer can repeatedly do a very poor job or rip people off and people will still go back to them be they are the “main dealer”. Like in your case they have obviously lied to you. 👍🙂

    Should I maintain with a constant power supply the car when I change the battery? Mean - have additional battery connected to +/- during the manipulation when the car does not have close circuit? Does it might affect the car computer (power cutoff)? I have Volvo cc 60 diesel from 2014. Thank in advance

    • @EverydayWorkshop
      @EverydayWorkshop Před 10 dny

      Hi, no you won't lose any settings so no need to keep a power supply. On your vehicle the battery monitoring system will probably need resetting so the system will charge at the correct rate for a new battery. Not urgent you can do it later. Either a dealer or anyone with the correct scanner reset tool. Hope this helps you. 👍🙂

    • @EverydayWorkshop

      Hi, yes it does look like that I agree. They are actually a different type of fuse due to their large size and are on the vertical side of that location. • @EverydayWorkshop
      @EverydayWorkshop Před 16 dny

      Hi, unfortunately it could be many things. Having a diagnostic tool scan would possibly point you in the right direction. Having said that it may possibly be the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve sticking due to carbon build up, which can be cleaned to rectify the issue. Something to investigate, I hope this helps and you get your issue sorted out. 👍🙂

Managed to open the bonnet having watched your vid, found a friendly campervan owner with some WD in his kit and we were sorted. Can you please make one for the whole car? Here are the ideas? 1. Split sections that can be joined together to make a long one. The sloping ramps at the end are detachable. 2. Option to remove the Ramp section under wheels while supporting that part of the car by a jack stand placed between pinch welds and on top of the other section of the Ramp 3. Top piece, the driveable section, of the long ramp can be removed to make it light for storage. 4. Height is the ramp to be around 15 inches. 5. Ramp has a large openings to slide under the car from the side of the ramp. 6. Supporting blocks under the ramp can be placed anywhere along the length of the ramp to make it easier to take the tires off and do suspension work, etc.

    • @EverydayWorkshop
      @EverydayWorkshop Před 28 dny

      Thank you. I definitely think you should able to make something to do the job. Hard to use a drill with rectangular section, but it would clean some of it. Maybe a long length of round bar attaching your wire brush to the bar. One of the round flappy drill attachments welded to the bar may work used with a drill but it wouldn’t get into the corners. How about a chemical rust remover, blocking up one end of the tube. 👍🙂

    Why did you grease the towball? Normally that’s the worst thing you can do especially if you’re going to be towing a trailer like a caravan with a stabilised hitch and pads inside it. Grease ruins them.

    • @EverydayWorkshop
      @EverydayWorkshop Před měsícem

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I think you may have replied on the wrong video. (😁 I’ve done that myself) To answer your question I do take your point, it may be an issue with a stabilising hitch. There are much better trailer stabilisers by the way. In regards to greasing a towing hitch, I’ve done a lot of towing (mainly vehicle trailers) and I can tell you I would much rather have a lubricated tow ball then metal grinding on metal. In regards to needing a stabiliser I would argue you don’t need one, what is more important is the weight ratio between the towing vehicle and the trailer and even more importantly the weight distribution on the trailer, ie have the right amount of weight on the tow hitch. And of course driving correctly, acceleration, speed, braking etc. Sorry I’ve waffled on a bit. Thanks for watching. 👍🙂

    Oh my word. What with this loud, stupid music! To what isn't needed Instead of talking to us, telling us what you're doing. But put blocks of small text as to telling nothing really as we can't read it!!! 100% useless video. If you're going to make a help video, then talk to people and say just what you're doing. And stop the loud stupid loud music.

      Well firstly thanks for commenting as I like all feedback good or bad, and well you didn’t hold back did you. 😉 Yeah I agree the music isn’t the best choice. Have you ever considered that some people aren’t comfortable speaking on video which can be for many reasons. As for the video content I put a lot of working into it making sure I didn’t miss any important steps, with the pages explaining more detail. I obviously knew people would simply use their pause button if they need more in-depth information, if they were serious about installing towbar electrics with a bypass relay. Thanks for view and I hope you found some of the video useful.

    I would need your help please 🙏 I have a Golf MK7, I’ve fitted the towbar, I’ve routed the wiring of the towbar, I’ve stripped all the trim in the boot and exposed the car’s wiring harness, lights everything. Now I have a multimeter and back probes and unfortunately I have zero knowledge on how to trace the signals. Please advise what are the steps: multimeter set on 20V I see in your video, black multimeter lead to a clean ground and the positive to each pin, but then what do I look for ? I suppose I have to turn on and off fog light, turn signal etc and suppose I need to observe a certain variation on the multimeter, what is it that I need to look for ? I spent 4 hours tracing ‘something’ and I thought I’ve found the signal for each light to then realise that I have actually traced the 12V from each light, and not the signals. Please help. Thank you

      Hi, well it sounds like you are on the right track, that is exactly what you need to do. Operate each light in turn. Ie say side lights first with all other lights off the terminal that shows a reading on the meter is the side light feed. Once identified mark the corresponding cable with some tape. You only need to identify the cables mainly to one rear lamp, use the one nearest your bypass relay. For the indicator, opposite side and possibly the fog you will need to run a cable from the other side. Once you’ve identified all the feeds you then connect each cable to the corresponding cable as show on the bypass relay diagram. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further help. 🙂👍

      Thank you Jeremy, that is praise indeed. I do try and make my videos from the viewers point of view and how I would want to see every possible step. I appreciate your comment. 🙂👍

      @@EverydayWorkshop Thank you. I'm presently working on a prototype, full size Spitfire MkIX panel measuring 1500 x 1000m, port side, just aft the cockpit, which includes the Radio Hatch and the top of the the wing fairing and centre to the roundel. We just started riveting the 900+ rivets today.
