What is Carbon Sequestration?
zhlédnutí 23KPřed 14 lety
While alternative energy resources are being developed, fossil fuels will continue to meet a large fraction of global energy demand for the foreseeable future. As a complement to improving energy efficiency and using current energy resources intelligently, carbon sequestration offers a new set of options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Sequestration is one of the few options that will al...

  • @VeronicaGorositoMusic

    How? Raising the rods so fast? And what are the rods made of? boron?

    • @niznikb
      @niznikb Před 5 lety

      AFAIK, in that type of reactor, the rods (usually a single rod - the reactor is already on the edge of criticality) are pneumatically ejected from the core.

    • @paulanderson79
      @paulanderson79 Před 5 lety

      Truthfully? Nothing at all. Best not to be up close and personal with the reactor core when it's actually live but the dozen or so feet of water between it and the surface is more than enough to shield you from stray neutrons etc.
