I love anything that transports me back in time, especially my Hollywood from the 40's, 50's and 60's. I clearly remember Ivanhoe which I may refer to as a Biblical film. Yes, the very young Elizabeth Taylor was a picture of such loveliness you never encountered. When she is about to be burnt at the stake, after being accused of indulging in witchcraft, her face is a vision of such beauty, it will be etched in your mind forever. Robert Taylor who plays Ivanhoe looks rather old to be paired opposite Ms. Taylor. He was perfect with her in 'Conspirator' made a few years earlier; ditto with Vivian Leigh in "Waterloo Bridge". I never really cared for Joan Fontaine, who always looked years older than her chronological age. Her sister, Olivia DeHavillan was a beaut and a finer actress - great at histrionics!!!

What were the absolutely awful facts about Police Story, and how do you talk about the show for 17 minurwa without mentioning the creator, Joseph Wambaugh, by name?

I grew up reading Famous Monsters magazine and it ran many pictures from This Island Earth. But in those pre-VHS days it was a long time before I finally got to see it. I love those old movies and this one stood out because of all the electronic gizmos. And, the movie is my age! I have the Blu Ray and put it on every summer when I have my own Sci-Fi Festival.

It's hard to believe that 2001: A Space Odyssey was created just 13 years later, and Star Wars 9 years after that.

It seems like 75% of the movie is devoted to getting ready to go to help the alien at his planet. And then once they get there they’re only there a short time before the planet is destroyed. It doesn’t make sense to me

The movie was so rewatchable up until the late 60's when 2001 was released in 1968. Makeup, effects, dialogue and acting was above average. I don't know how many times I watched it as a child in the 60's. It wasn't until 40 years later that I rewatched it and found it just as watchable. A true classic. Thanks for the review.

Nope, no confusion here. The comet jockeys were the baddies and the big brows the good guys. OK, maybe Brack and the Monitor needed more fiber in their diet but, c'mon it's interplanetary war man!

And it had the Professor from Gilligan's Island.

I watched this show when I was in the Police Academy and as I was to lean there was a lot of truth in it. I think it was "Fly in a Bottle" when two officers shot a guy laying in bed - he did not have a gun but a saxophone - every other cop on the scene split - the two officers were "shot through the grease"! That was the height of police realism!

I was 13 years old in 1973. My favorite part of the show was the Magician was him speeding around in a white Corvette !
