Do you have any of your custom wavetable library avail for purchase?
“If that sound knocks on your door you do not open it” 😆 Great video!
Paulee, that was a fascinating video. I've been following what you do in the Amiga community for years. Appreciate your honesty in sharing a view from your side, hope to watch Arcade Dreams with my family when it's out. Good luck !
Very creative--I like how you COMPLETELY deviated from the trad drum machine "role" and moved into the territory of space jam wierdness. Cool!
Great video and sounds
loved this, reckon you'll do one on the hydra at some point?
@@ennayanne hi, I don’t own a hydra yet but sure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 yay! it's the only hardware synth I own, and the only one I feel like I need lol
Love to see people making videos about hardware I have and Love! 🤩
I'm 50 and still go on about the Amiga, got my first one in 1990, an A500 with 1MB of Ram. Then sold that and got an A1200 in late 1992 which I kitted out with a Blizzard 030@50hmz and a 32MB Simm. I still have my A1200 to this day and use it. It's been recapped and sill runs great :)
I had a Blizzard with 32MB too! It was a nice machine for 1996 when I had it.
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 Nice! The Blizzard 030 was the king of the 030's back in the day, that card still sells for than what I paid for it back then. I paid $495 AU and could sell it for more than that now. But I never will. Btw - great channel, I've just subbed 😃
Drumlogue is a beast great video
Yeah, a Drum Machine & Synth in one! Thanks btw.
Finally somebody showing what this thing is really capable of. I imagine a collaboration with you and Joey of BR would mutate sound waves at the Planck level. Controlling the Drumlogue with a Play just might temper my lust for a Perkons.
damnm, thats kind of a dream setup. very excellent taste with the eps+, rps-10, xt, k4, k2000r, tg77, gotharman. thats so cool
VFX sd too! god dang
Thanks! I feel I have quite niche tastes haha. Just got the RSD-10 to go with the RPS too :)
Love the M. this is great work you're doing. I used to use the old microwave in my band "Adam and his Apples"
Thanks! I now have a second video in this series, covering the Korg Drumlogue :)
Such a cool sounding synth. Beautiful pads especially those saw driven ones. Which V-synth to buy though? They have several different versions from what I understand. Some of them even have a D50 engine onboard. Great overview and demo :).
Hi :) - the original Vsynth keyboard can add the D50 engine with a hard to find PC Card, and that’s the model I demo here. I don’t have the card but I sampled the raw PCMs of the D50 and imported them, to get half way haha. The rack, Vsynth XT has the D50 built in, but loses some controllers obv. Finally, the GT has double the power, and can layer more tones, but cannot add the D50 engine in any way. Of course, with the doubled power, those raw D50 PCMs could be combined with 2VA oscillators and a complete 4osc D50 could be mimicked anyway! Though you’d need to build the patches yourself!
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 Let me just say it one more time for emphasis. Really great job on the demo and overview. Those patches sound fucking awesome. Really great job, again thanks. And informative. Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated. I think I'm sold on the one you got here in the video. They seem to be the most plentiful and cheapest anyway. I also like the idea of getting a genuine Roland Supersaw oscillator. I know a lot of software has kind of reverse engineered this already (And hardware) but that's the the OG and would be cool to have just for that. Without having to buy the JP8000 I mean. Which I guess is another classic so wouldn't be the end of the world having to buy that as well but it's nice that it's offered here as well. Nice complement. Again, thanks and keep up the great work.
i bought one in january, and fm64 wasnt ready yet. this shit with the custom waveforms is fucking insane though, im going to install it tonight~~~ thanks so much! great video, and great outfit
I love the drumlogue have more then one.. use the individual out trs to xlr much more punch. The 32bit samples can be sick… use an analog filter way to cheap for what you get. But an update from KORG would be about time
Thanx a lot for making this!!
I like that you matched the black plastic aesthetic.
Become one with instrument 😂
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 I wish the text print was bigger or a different colour. We need a version with big gold gothic script and diamante for the LEDs!
Maybe some skull knobs with ruby eyes?
Those are some hip gloves ;)
What an awesome overview! I love the jams as well. It's definitely far more capable than just a drum machine :)
They should do a big boy version on the Volca drum which could be a new Electribe.
+10 point for the Auf Wiedersehen Monty reference :) love those bonus sounds!
I loved that game. It was £2.99 from the local corner shop 😂
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 hehe WH Smiths I think I got then got the C64 Version for the awesome music :)
If only the Snare was better. It's a powerfull device at a fair price. Great video Paulee
@@MrJohnFlanagan I haven’t tried individually processing the snare yet, I bet a transient designer could give it less “tish” and more “KUSH”, I hope I’m making sense 😂
That Drumologue is pure dirt. I love it.
Amazing detailed review - run through, thank you And finally someone wearing gloves so we don't have to endure hairy arms.. . Brilliant video the best run down of the Drumlogue to date
Alternative title: how to make wonky autechre beats on a drumlogue
@@sammadden5540 how to *UNINTENTIONALLY* make wonky autechre beats 😂
Great video, I had a feeling this machine was a bit overlooked
will the Drumlogue also be overloaded when sequenced externally?
You know I didn’t try it, but that example was a real edge case, all that sample munging automation, AND FM64, AND Delay Lab, AND Reverb - it was too much. As you saw in the vid I had no issues otherwise :)
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 thanks, can't wait to get mine. I got hooked when i read about the free LILLIAN user osc at amazona magazine. To me the Drumlogue sounds like a mix of those early Dub Reggae preset drum boxes mixed with lots of dark sci fi added to it. I'm sure i will love it;)
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 got it now and it is so good (also got a Prologue 16) . Have you tried the GLOUGLOU FL9? it is fantastic what it does to the Drumlogue and everything else....
Killer killer killer!
You make some of the best videos on gear, somebody with taste, ideas and knowledge. Love the M video (great input on GS, too!) and funny enough i bought a Drumlogue yesterday and am waiting for it to arrive. So this video is just in time and really appreciated! thanks!
So who’s buying a Drumlogue now then? 😂
You'll start a Techmoan effect!
Just ordered when reverb sent it to 299 will arrive Wednesday wooo
🙋 Thank you for this! So inspiring to see you take the Drumlogue way out there... past the breaking point, even. 🎉 I'm with you, the magic is in that user-accessible synth engine.
might look for one second hand
Nah Ive already got too many drum machines. Of all the gear Ive sold over the years the thing I want back most is my tempest :)
The timing going all wonky when its overloaded is almost uncomfortable to listen to, poor Drumlogue.
I know, wild! I thought it was important to show though - if you’re going to use the user algo’s live, you need to pre-plan a little and not just turn everything on/throw caution to the wind 😅
Pretty poor show. When they launched it the sync was laughable I returned mine. They updated it for better sync and that probably undermined stability under high DSP load. It's silly to ADC all the analogue voices.
This was really interesting! Had no idea you could use an Amiga in this way - very cool
Thanks Colin 😊
$cooped-up a copy yesterday! I Likes!! Well done! I used an amiga back in the day for lame video graphics--not that the Amiga was lame--just the state of videographics in the early 90s😁. Great to see that these great machines can still churn out compelling media!
Thanks a bunch!
Great demo. I will always love ROLAND gear, especially the really QUIRKY stuff :) Keep up the good work...
wizard! coaxed magical tones from this beast. need more
It did not only made it to my GAS list, but I’m picking one up next week ! 😊
Wahey, congrats! DBeams all ‘round 😂
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 played the XT until late last night on its own. Will need to combine it with my Fantom X DBeam to make your slogan work :-). But what an original sound synthesis, and ease of use. Really weird Roland did not pursue that line of innovation so much afterwards.
Great showcase!
I now (only vaguely, in several cases) remember fiddling with a number of these softwares shown in this video way back in the day. Thanks for exercising my crusty old neurons to shake loose these memories! Unfortunately, none of my fumbling efforts led to anything, because I completely lack any and all musical talent. :P My one impression might be a couple Soundtracker sample discs I made sampling from a friend's brother's rather expensive and fancy MIDI synth module from back in the early '90s. I mailed copies of the instruments to some guy, but I don't know if they ever reached any wider distribution. Alas, my Amiga days ended back in '97, when my crusty old A500 was 10 years old and very behind the times, and I basically never looked back since. Not because I didn't want to - it all just hurt too much, after Commodore went bankrupt and all of that. :) (Yes, having been a huge fanboy of a dead system is painful...) I'm a PC guy now, but not because I like these soulless, awful machines. It is what it is...
I held out until 2001! Talk about painfully obscure 😂
HEy! John Flattery recommended me to you as I'm autistic as well studying at Leeds Beckett. I'm having to go out for a year or two due to feeling overwhelmed with my workload but what you've said on here is pretty much spot on. Please keep making music and talking about your story mate. It's incredibly good to see some bloody representation!!
13:50 Oh yes.. There we go baby! Brilliant..
Nice video, I didn't know this synth. And nice outfit, you look cute
Wicked video. Liked and subscribed x
Love my XT, but i should take it out of the box ;-) Back then i wanted to buy the GT because of its expanded power, but when i played it at Messe back then i found that it had not the exactly the sound of my XT.Anyone compared the two soundwise? Opinions?
I know that the GT loses D550 emulation.
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 Yes, and it sounded a bit thiner....
I was on the fence about getting a V-Synth, but this has done it for me. Hard to pick a favourite patch, but Outlands if I had to. Thanks so much for this
Thanks 😊
That’s probably the best System 8 demo I’ve seen. Great jam. The sound is very elastic & fantastic!
Thanks, the crossmod is wild!
Yes I see what you mean but to me I hear a certain Hollowness also..? I don't know its just not quite whole.. but yeah sounds good still maybe I´m imagining things but it doesn't sound or have the depth like my Juno 6 or old Jupiter 4 I used to own.. But still great synth.
Awesome, Paulee! Looks and sounds fab!
Just did mine in his JP8 livery - big improvement! As others have said, this is Roland's best synth since the JD-800, and easily fills in for most of their analog legends. I just wish they'd do the JX-8P with ACB modeling!
JP6 is what most of us want.... that's a beast and I believe ONLY Roland would get it right, as the Mercury version isn't close IMHO
@@NickHowesAstro yeah, I'd love that one too.
That is a tidy overlay! Still too many green leds... my eyes...!
Thankfully you can turn most of them off 😂
I have the aluminium end cheeks on mine, JP8 style. Lots of people now coming round to the fact that (along with the V Synth) this is the best synth Roland have released in the past 30 years
It’s astounding 👌🏻
@@magicalsynthadventure3216 Could not agree more. I owned a Juno 6/60, JP4/6 and 8 over the years, and the modelling on the 8 is perfect... as is the Juno 60. JP-4 a bit less so, but close enough for Jazz
Totally agree! I've bought and sold many Roland synths over the past 30 years but I have kept my V-Synth and System 8. They're certainly the most interesting synths Roland have made in that time. Well, I kept a D-50 as well -- you sorta have to, eh? :)
In mine I have the Jup8, JX3p (duh) and System 100 as although monophonic, it has 2 LFO’s and filter FM (or anything modulated by a VCO!)
