@@lczz-dj2nf it’s a beautiful color! I have not tried it with a magnet, but I have used one with Hematite and that can give some interesting results.

It's one way for them to get their product in front of more eyes. I would rather they support creators vs mass advertising "commercials" and make the products affordable as an entry into watercolor. However, I know some do have issues with products coming out of China, I have started using the paints and will have a video on my opinions of them soon.

Isn't it fun to mix and play with them. I love to see how they will react and separate.

@@ClarkFineArt I made 2 “little” (I think they’re about 4x6..maybe a bit bigger..they are Baohong Sample booklets, 18 pages, 6 of each kind, cold press, hot press and rough. They have adhesive at one edge that I strengthen with duct tape..and I made a harder cardboard cover) “Swatch mix” books, put them together..they have the “recipes” of my favorite mixes …many of the ones in my first booklet are ones I made with my PY159 mixes. While many of these mixes are stunning..and look incredible with their separation…I rarely use most of my favorites unless I’m doing something abstract. I just can’t usually fit them into my landscapes or critter paintings. One mix though that I fell in love with and even got the pigments so I could make my own: PB35 & PR233…beautiful cool gray with the pink and blue granulation. I didn’t used to do urban or paintings of buildings until my bestie got me into it because of my “Hummingbird wing Gray” paint. Of course she’s a retired art professor AND she’s not legally blind like me. She showed me how useful that color can be in MANY different subjects. The one she’s still trying to figure out with me-ways to use it? PY159 mix + Amethyst. I know it sounds weird…but if you play with it you can get some beautiful separations…the warm gray/brown, purple and yellow..but also shades of a green. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve used it in an urban painting…but wasn’t comfortable with the unpredictable results..sometimes you get the beautiful separation, sometimes a mud with a glint. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

You could just use the top part and adjust the tripod to whatever height you would like and put the table on a different side to use as a shelf to store or things perhaps, but there are many great options available and you should be able to come up with a setup that works for you.

@@Violet-ok3nl I posted multiple times in the very beginning that I mistakenly called Volcano Violet “Volcano Red” during the entire video (at least I was consistent). You must have missed the on screen announcements at the beginning, I realized it during editing at the very end and was not going to re-record the entire video. You are correct, Volcano Red is much more “red” because it is only PR108 vs this Volcano Violet that has PV62 and PR108. Sorry for the confusion.

@@karenirving7088 Perhaps we will have to give one a try, there are granulating yellows. Schmincke’s Volcano yellow is one of them.

Volcano brown is my favorite. I actually had a few questions about the Schminckes. Would you know if deep sea green can mix moonglow and shadow violet? I made a similar winsor Newton mix that I love mixing with ivory black. I’ve also never seen WN lemon yellow deep (compared to volcano yellow) and I live somewhere where Schmincke isn’t as accessible as DS or WN, sadly.

Oh, forgot to say, the WN mix does get me moonglow-like colors.

For Gouache I would use a sealed palette like this one from Meeden, the 33 well leak proof (this is the one I have my Mission Gold watercolors in), the gouache could still dry out but it would take longer. However, normally it can be rewet like watercolors. go.meedenart.com/3PuDVZW that is the palette and you could always use a porcelain tray to mix on if you prefer. I like the 3 well go.meedenart.com/44FvFg5 and the flat open spaced tray palette go.meedenart.com/4faAxic It would depend on the brand of gouache as to if I would dry it in one of the open ceramic palettes with wells and how many colors you are wanting to put into a palette would also impact which one I would recommend. I had thought about it, but the mix was born out of wanting the hue when I was using the colors I had on my MaimeriBlu palette, so I wanted to stay true to the original mix I created with that. I did get some granulation but definitely not as much as regular Perylene Green by DS gave me.

My apologies, usually when a pigment has a unique color name like that I say what the pigment is, like in the case of the PG7 being a phthalo green. The PBr25 is a benzimidazolone brown, which would be permanent brown by Daniel Smith, benzimidazolone burn orange by QoR and one of their new colors, and red brown would be the color name by Mijello Mission Gold to name a few. I am sure there are other brands that probably have it in their range as well. I would say you could try to substitute a PR101 or a PBr7 if they looked close enough to the MaimeriBlu Dragon's Blood version of the PBr25 and when I look at my swatches, the Daniel Smith Burnt Sienna PBr7 is not a perfect match, it is a bit warmer, as is QoR Venetian Red PR101 also not exact, but both are similar and ones I would attempt to try if I had those palettes in my hand and did not have the PBr25. I hope that helps, great question!

I found my Moonglow separated less than the Artemis did on the paper. They need a very wet wash to do that on the page. Still it never looks as good as it does drying on my ceramic palette. Think it needs a non porous surface for that.
