    I agree this does have some to do with race starting with Angel Reese but more of the jealousy is the audacity of Caitlin Clark through the underdog of Iowa beating those elitist schools especially UConn. UConn won 11 NCAA championships. But has not won since 2016. Who twarted that in 2023 Clark and Iowa. Who ruined S Carolina's run in 2022? Caitlin Clark and LSU in 2023? Caitlin Clark and Iowa. Paige may be considered an activist but she will get flowers and be treated well more as a member of the UConn super majority Royalty when she arrives in 2025. I am so tired of the merit over marketability card being played in the Olympic selection committee criteria this time when Caitlin Clark is the rookie. Lobo, Taurasi, and Stewart were not chosen to play because of their WNBA merit, Taurasi had not even played one minute. They all claim bacause rhey had championships they got to play. The UConn TEAM won championships, their individual records were not as good as Clark's. They were on because of MARKETABILITY of their UConn brand as I am sure there were better players in the WNBA. Example, Geno snubbed Candace Parker and chose his rookie Stewart to play on the Olympic team. Just look at the make-up of the Olympic Committee and what teams and individuals they had ties too. Clark did not have a prayer. She has also won the hearts of so many young people across the country with parents bringing them to games and buying stuff and that translates to sponsorships and greenbacks for Clark and greeneyes from other players.

    These woman have no understanding of market value. And with their stance, they complain about money, complain about coverage yet, they throw the only bone given to them under the bus and destroy their own market value. Woman are salty and haters in the WNBA. Instead of supporting a woman who is uplifting their sport, they are trying to destroy her. And that is the mindset of most woman. They tell other woman you look beautiful to eachothers face, but behind the scenes they are campaigning to destroy eachother LOL

    Caitlin Clarks's biggest on court contribution is showing how good Sabrina Ionescu is. Ionescu is better than Clark in almost every aspect of the game. The question is why is Clark so popular and how did she become an anti-woke icon. The irony is that one aspect of wokism is the cause. Clark has been proclaimed to be the greatest college basketball player ever; not just the greatest woman, the greatest period. She broke Pete Maravich's all time NCAA scoring record, right? Of course that's a lie. She would not have made men's DIII or a top high school boys team. She achieved her record by having outsized talent relative to her playing competition. Now she has moved to the next level and is playing against equal talent on a daily basis. She looks more like a female Christian Laettner than a female Larry Byrd. The question is how long will her popularly last when the new fans discover she is just another good women's player. The media has so heightened expectations that she is bound to be seen as failure because she won't meet them.

    The WNBA will never compete with the NBA. With that said, I find this situation to oddly be not unlike the current situation with pro-Palestinian outrage. In both cases, its based on a complete lack of historical knowledge or context. Basketball is a sport that was invented by a white physical education teacher in 1891. Its popularity was largely built and spread through the YMCA system, and from there it went to high schools, colleges and eventually professional sports. The low cost of the sport certainly helped it's popularity in lower income communities, and with the emergence of many dominant african american players, at some point, it started to be regarded as the "black" sport, with african american players dominating most NBA rosters. The WNBA took this appropriation and added on to it, with the unspoken element of appealing to the lesbian community, given that so many of the players are gay. You can't simultaneously claim racism and demand racial equality and a color blind society, while at the same time harboring unjustified feelings of cultural ownership of the sport by your race and/or sexual identity. Given the lack of insight, and high degree of self absorption by the myriad of voices coming from the wnba itself, it's no surprise that they aren't able to get behind the age old adage that "A rising tide lifts all boats." These naysaying fools are incapable of understanding that the tide is the unprecedented level of interest in Caitlyn Clark's journey to the WNBA, not the WNBA itself. If things work out for the WNBA, this will bring some number of new fans, who in time may come to appreciate other top players. Instead of welcoming these new fans, you have players, former players, and coaches who feel empowered to get up on a soapbox and insult them as politically motivated racists and homophobes. It's no surprise then to see that the NBA has been evolving as basketball continues to grow the men's sport internationally, and european superstars (both white and from african countries) have come into the NBA. CC is the exact ambassador that the WNBA needs to help market itself to the rest of the world at this moment, and clearly there is absolutely no argument that any logical person could make, given CC's all star level performance, that she would be excluded from the US Olympic team roster. Instead those people responsible for that decision, have offered up a series of nonsensical and contradictory reasons, none of which seem to acknowledge reality. Your video did a good job covering these issues.

    Theory: With incoming, high profile new players like Clark and Reese, the powers that be in the WNBA all got together and decided to make the league into something that people would continue to talk about on a daily basis. After all, their tix sales were pretty pathetic. So, they all agreed to coach the players into playing hood ball strictly for the attention it will bring. Seems to be working?

    OK, that was interesting. I'd like to know what, if anything, Clark could do to make this stop. She hasn't done anything to provoke this anger, and I don't know that anything she could say with her "platform" that would cause these bitter women to back off. And if she even tried to make a statement to the effect that yes, women of color and lgbtq people have been largely overlooked, they would simply remark that it is too little, too late.....so, as CC likes to say, "it is what it is". And now, there is apparently an entire industry evolving around this narrative as evidenced by all the media and content creators covering the various aspects of this war. I really feel sorry for this kid. I know when I was that age, I was more worried about chasing girls and smoking pot than about these complex social issues, not that I didn't care, just didn't feel qualified to weigh in for lack of experience. The lack of wisdom shown by the players who are physically bullying her is astounding.

  • @adamoseas337
    @adamoseas337 Před 23 hodinami

    It’s insane the way the WNBA is unironically the ouroboros. The NBA pays them millions of dollars a year so that they can have any money at all to pay their players, even though the league has never been profitable, and WNBA players speak out about how unfair NBA players pay is, and that they feel NBA players aren’t doing enough. They get a superstar, and the entire league either hates her or says she’s the future of the entire league and she hasn’t done anything yet. She didn’t even win in March madness. They’re taking a young athlete, who is literally what the league needed for years and are alienating her. The WNBA culture is incredibly toxic too with straight players getting bullied and sometimes beaten by lesbians - there is no excuse for the bullying of a group based on sexual orientation in either direction. It’s gotten to the point that some straight players will pretend to be lesbians to protect themselves. I mean, Jesus if they want people to like them, try to be likable.
