The casting was good except for Elizabeth, she is a psycho in this, much worse than in the book!

This was a charming version of Emma, certainly entertaining, however I much prefer the version starring Gwenyth Paltrow as Emma, and the very dashing Jeremy Northam as George Knightly. It is a much more meaty script, follows the book better, and has an amazing, whimsical music score. Check it out people! Although I think Mark Strong also makes a wonderful Knightly😍 Whichever you like better, you can't go wrong with a Jane Austin! ❤

Ciaran Hinds is handsome and bombastic as Mr Rochester but Toby Stephens was just magnetic in his depiction of the brooding anti-hero in the mini series adaptation. Hard to choose who I liked most in the role.

One thing that seems odd to me. Would little girls from an extremely poor family be taught to read and write in the early 1800s? I will research it, but anyone who knows, answers are welcome. Thanks!

I read the book for A level..But the film I had not seen.I think it was easier to follow and so nice ,no shooting,foul language etc etc..Why can’t there be more films like this?..Her hair was the wrong style,but that is the film people’s fault.Did not really stop me enjoying the film ..Thank you so much 🥰

I've always admired Fanny, but mrs Norris, Mariah, and the Crawfords make it hard for me to enjoy thoroughly. it all gets straightened out by end, but its a thick book.

the very young actors are endearing, but between the sound engineering, the camera direction, that most movements are betrayed as pseudo sexual, and the overall implied changes in the story, the movie is at best schlock

I realize I've seen this before, though only because I remember the actress playing Fanny. Last night I watched the 1999 version. It was spectacular. This version is decidedly not. Among other faults, it moves with the speed of a freight train with no brakes, making it superficial. I can't even watch it .

thank you for uploading this 🥹 i recently got into reading, and decided to also watch movie adaptations of all my favorite books <3 this is such a beautiful movie.

This was the best of all Austen adaptations imo, it showed mess and dirt and the men weren’t always shaved to within an inch of their lives. Add to that the brilliant performances, particularly Ciaran and Amanda and you have an exemplar of Austen adaptations.

Mr. Rochester is old enough to be Jane’s father, and. Don’t care for this version of him. I don’t see an iota of interest - or love for Jane. He’s just a brute thus far.

First time seeing this movie version of the book. Not nearly as romantic as other Austen stories, and to me it lacked the depth of character and believably that I love in Emma & others, but the book is usually much different than the film.

I like this version very much. Samantha Morton seems so like Jane as I imagine her. The acting is very good!

I love this version of Mansfield Park. Even if it isn’t accurate. Love the opening scene with the cockroach running across the floor of Fanny’s original home. England banned slavery long before the U.S. Perhaps they didn’t have the same plantation issues as the Deep South in the US.
