He used a fake handle in the end. He carefully grabbed the mug from the guy's hand and hides the handle with his hand. When he pulls the yellow cloth, he added a new fake handle on the other side. You can see that he carefully holds it all the way down with the rope, so that it doesn't fall. When removing the mug from the rope, he holds the fake handle inside the cloth and you'll notice the real handle is actually facing down.

From their angle in their seats its difficult to see, unfortunately for him the camera angle reveals it but it also wasn't very clean.

Hinged handle on the mug held closed in place by a magnet. Penn and Teller obvioulsy not fooled at all, but decided to say they were.

I know EXACTLY how this trick was done: 1. Cover up mug on rope. 2. Think about the backrooms. 3. Mug falls through portal to level 1 of backrooms and an evil doppleganger mug takes its place. SIMPLE!

I never care if I know how it's done or not, I just care if it's fun to watch. And it was. Well done, very entertaining.

At 5:15 you should notice his hand. The handle he is feeding the loop through is a magnetic handle. Notice how gentle he is with that handle/rope, and how is other hand OBSCURES so much of the opposite side of the cup. And how he catches the handle from the bottom of the cup when it comes out. FINALLY at 6:00 notice his right hand, holding the yellow cloth. You can see the handle being held up by his middle finger, the shape of the handle is clearly there. The entire purpose of the RED cup was to give him an excuse to put away and grab the blue cup. Well done.

and i still think each time the greatest magic on that show is how beautiful she looks. not saying the magic tricks aren't mindblowing, amazing and entertaining, but i am just as amazed every time.

Extra handle with magnets under the yellow cloth is my guess but you cant see anything other than the the mug drop handle is towards the ground it would not be like that if it was actually hanging from the handle. Such a nice routine.

This felt like they knew what the trick was and played into the act and the code at the end. Gimmick, by the move needed to drop it off, especially since he used rings before, but the whole act was so good, so fun and clean, guy deserved that trophy. Great tribute act. ❤

I don't speak in code. When he grabbed the yellow fabric out of the box, he also grabbed a magnetic replica of the finger loop, attached it to the cup while concealing the real finger loop. Then he simply pulled the steel mug off while the finger loop remained on the rope. That's my theory anyway!
