    3:05 According to documentation from Cruisemaster (TB 070) you're not supposed to weld across the width (ie transversely) of a chassis rail. I presume the same would apply to the drawbar as it's also a stressed longitudinal member. Is that right?

    Tannic acid and similar organic chelating agents are not reported to be long lasting coatings ( as may be epoxy based dual components) . Instead of converting would'nt you prefer first removing rust chrmically ( NaOH, oxalic or citric acid with possible electrolytic stimulation) possibly followed by phosphation with phosphorix acid as primer coating and finally protecting with epoxy or PU based painting such as marine drilling platform specialty productd. My case concerns pathfinder body frame preservation but via insitu treatment without global dismantling. Please be tolérant with my froggy'sglish. DIY inhibition free attitude for rust progress inhibition is your moto.

    Use this on french polish and you wipe 200 years of value right away

    • @VintageRestorationsAustralia
      @VintageRestorationsAustralia Před 5 měsíci

      Incorrect, you only remove harmful acidic surface accumulations that destroy the aesthetic and monetary value of a piece. This reviver will not impact shellac polish or abrasion patina, it is designed as a cleaner. Straight alcohol will damage shellac hence the blend. I'm interested to hear what you use to remove unsightly wax, grime build up, dirt accumulations etc? Not all patina is created equal, if you like bird poo, grime, grease stains, dust accumulation, over varnishing, paint splatters, fly specs etc etc all over your pieces then sure don't clean your furniture and call it patina... Patina is years of wear not years of filth.

      @victordeprez Před 5 měsíci

      @@VintageRestorationsAustralia well i agree fully. It is just that i would never smear olive oil on a piece d’epoque and vinegar can quickly destroy a french polish as do meths. So i guess orange oil is the only thing you have really to clean the most deleicate pieces. Or am i wrong?

    Hi Steve, Just discovered your channel and am enjoying watching how you’ve gone about renovating your old van. I’ve got an old Viscount Ambassador 15ft late 60s or early 70s that needs a birthday. I’m learning lots from watching, so thanks. I’ve been watch lots of vintage caravan renovation videos and I notice most window repair jobs show it as not too hard to get windows out if it’s the original dried and crumbling mastic, but if someone has previously use silicone or sickaflex to reseal the windows it’s horrible to get the windows out and to clean the silicone or sickaflex off. So I don’t understand why all these videos then turn around and use silicone or sickaflex to reseal windows, ensuring that the next person has a horrible time getting the windows out and cleaning the frames. Why isn’t mastic tape used to seal the windows? Another thing, you said that the butterfly hinges you used to hang one of your windows was as difficult to get as rocking-horse poop, but what was it about those specific hinges that precluded you from using some other hinge? You fixed some other hinges to do another job later in the video.

    Watch the heat under the seat box. That DC DC will run 40 degrees plus. With no airflow probably 55 degrees constant. Those Gen4 elcon chargers need to push a lot of air too. They're both IP rated so not unhappy a bit more exposed to the elements. We used to put the charger in the box like that but moved to making a bracket that sits it under the seat, but with more airflow. Add some perforations.
