Bedford Basin - Shore Drive
zhlédnutí 30Před dnem
Near the northernmost end of Bedford Basin, where the Sackville River empties into the Atlantic, lies some of the most sought-after waterfront real estate in the province. The entire southern side of this cove was once occupied by the McCulloch family, where I fished off the dock as a young boy. Now, what was once a rolling lawn is over a dozen homes.

I don't generally shoot power boats but when I accidentally got a little too close to a club member, I offered a few shots of her boat as an apology. Very graceful lady and a beautiful vessel.

THIS GENERATOR IS A WORK HORSE! YOU MUST RUN FULL THROTTLE, AS RECOMMEND ON MANUAL, THIS GENERATOR WORKS GREAT! HOWEVER IT'S LOUD, IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE NOISE DECIBLE LEVEL ,THEN IT'S FOR YOU! GREAT GENERATOR !
Does it have a railing?😮
No.
very nice
I have the same tractor. It was my grandfather’s he purchased in 1973. It deteriorated over the years and eventually ended up in a junk pile on the farm. Years after he died (1988) I retrieved it and rebuilt completely. I still use it for various jobs on my farm today. It’s now over 50 years old.
Yeah I hear you. Having a working machine that's over half a century old is pretty crazy. I like the oldies.
I bought mine 20 years ago.Still going great! Regular oil changes and fuel filters use premium grade fuel(gas!)
How much did you pick that up for? How did she run after you got it running?
$350. Had it running on quick-start but it wouldn't pick up the fresh gas in the tank. The carb is going to have to come off and be cleaned. No problem. I'll replace the seat and flip if for 1k. It's like new.
It had domino problems. - Carb needed cleaning...had to disassemble the back to get at it. Exhaust pipe was bent in the way of two screws. Fixed that. - Then it wouldn't go in gear...pulled steering wheel and disassembled steering column to get at the cables and lever. One cable had broken strands from being adjusted too lose, both were seized and needed a lot of coaxing and soaking to free them up. Got everything back together and working. Ordered one new cable. - The drive belt started smoking after 10 minutes of mowing. Primary and final drive belts were both trashed. Replaced both belts and a frozen idler. Fixed. - Started mowing again. Deck belt gave out. Replaced the belt - works fine. - Went mowing again. Stalled after 5 minutes. Won't start. I had cleaned the tank, replaced the furl line and filter, cleaned the carb completely when I took the arse end apart. I guess I missed something. It's parked in the garage until I stop cursing. Moved on to fixing my Ariens mower belt. 😶
👍🏻
They were approved by Enviroment Canada to buy and mine another 144 hectars of land North-East of the mine a few years ago. I live less than a kilometre from where they are currently mining (around 600m west of Milford Rd). The blasting shakes the house like an earthquake pretty much every other day. It's crazy.
Are.. are those rain guards? Wow.
Pretty crazy LOL
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing
I drove there with two uncharged batteries so I didn't get to travel the entire quarry. Glad you enjoyed it.
Magnificent engines, never failed me... I ALWAYS have one... A last resort engine, it will get you home without a doubt... Just slowly 🤣
If this is still available let me know. It’s a beautiful mx3
It's currently in my garage. I have new brake and fuel lines and new gas tank and pump ready to install. I have a temporary tank in the back seat area so I can occasionally start it and let it run a half hour. It has loads of new parts that were installed during the engine swap (3000kms and 14 years ago) , like clutch lining, fly wheel, headers, wires, CIA etc. It has a small rust spot to repair on driver's side rocker, otherwise well above average. Interior is clean with no tears or cracks in the dash. Always store inside. I plan on selling for $10k CDN once all the parts are installed, but would consider 8k as-is with the parts included. Nice looking boat. Its the bigger sister to Nancy's China. My critique; I don't like how the sail looks. It has a "girt." A crease in it. It should be smoothed out to increase the effiency.
If only you were sailing her. Girt.
Very lovely, looks realistic.
Realistic?
Just got a lx277. The old man who sold it serviced it yearly at the dealer. When I got it, he handed me a receipt 2 weeks old showing 500 dollar tune up. Fluids changed, new belts, new blades. He had it upgraded to a freedom mulching mower deck. Handed me a box of extra oil filters and stuff. Everything on it works and the plastic is perfect. He showed me a way to open it so the hood wont ever crack. Just mowed my lawn. And just wow. The mulching duck mower set up is incredible. I was shocked at how smooth it sounded. It wasnt loud. The cruise control is a joy to use. The engine is special. I put a steering wheel ball on it. With its turning radius it was easy to use around the fence and house. I also replaced the seat and seat springs. I got it for $900. Was listed for $1100. This mower is downright a gem if you ever find one. Even in 2024. Just an amazing John Deer.
Great deal!
Nice idea. Never thought about using an extension like that to hold an impact gun or other tools. That gives me a couple of storage related ideas

Nice catch man! Nice to see the upgraded pto engager on there too! Let me know how that plow works out for you.
Hey thank you! Do you know much about these rigs? I mounted the dozer and tried it out and I'm about to mount the blower and try it out, but I think I might be missing a part. Do you know what engages the clutch? I think I'm missing a link between the pedal and the clutch.
WOW I love your channel!!!
The snowblower has a separate lever from the snowblower itself to turn it on and off , not done with the pedal. @@27floater14

I am sure when the wind is right, this little schooner is the prettiest vessel in the harbor. I would love to have her as a day sailer or weekend ride. However, based upon my limited experience owning a nice sloop, I would estimate the cost of repairing the hull, restoring the rudder and giving the vessel a new hull paint job is in the 10K range. A DIYer could save a lot, but I can see it is going to be a substantial amount of work. That said, I certainly hope someone takes on the project. My days of such fun and sanding have passed.
The hull is absolutely fine. She's been on the hard for one season and the seams that are visible in the deadwood will close up in a day or two afloat. From the garboard up is strip-planked, so there are no open seams. She takes on no water whatsoever. She could use a scrape, barrier coat and a couple coats of anti-foul, but that's about it. The rudder are stern post are reportedly in good serviceable condition. Her biggest challenge is her mainmast (not shown in the video) which might have a season or two left in it but will need to be replaced soon. Other than that, this vessel is pretty much ready to race or cruise.
There is one of these for sale in Ireland at the moment on Facebook Marketplace, that’s how I found this video! Very tempted to buy it, what a cool lawnmower
Do you know is the 10hp motor a Briggs and Stratton?
@@SKOMPAS Yes it is. It was blown when I got it and I'll be swapping something else in.
I would be very interested in seeing the ad or pictures and info from it. I am using a server in Ireland and have searched but can't find it. Perhaps it sold? Maybe you could reply with a link to the ad, ad number if you would.
It was on Facebook marketplace, unfortunately by the time I went to go and look at it was gone, as far as I know it was fully working! I have a screenshot of it that’s all unfortunately, didn’t realise how rare these where !

Hello, speaking of Matilda-20. By any chance, do you know the measurements of the keel? (Lost mine last summer, need to build a new one for the coming season)). I found dimensions on Matilda-owners site, but for Matilda-16 only. Thank you.
When I accquired Stella Ann she also suffered from LKS (lost keep syndrome) so I had to make a new one. I had the measurements when I fabricated the new one (see my videos STELLA ANN Part 3 and Part 5) but I don't believe I have them anymore. If I remember correctly it was 48" long and the width can be measured by removing the upper half of the keel trunk (from the head side) and measuring between the depth of the slots in the guides, allowing a little slack (1/8") to reduce binding. I fabricated the bulb using a 36" piece of 8" diameter schedule 80 pipe, filled with used wheel weights and sealed on each end with a steel plate to hold the weights inside and seal it off from filling with water and rusting, then carefully aligned it with the newly installed plate and welded it to it. The nose and tail pieces were turned of laminated softwood on a wood lathe and bolted onto each end of the pipe with 5/8" threaded rod that was attached to the end caps before welding them in place. I then covered them in epoxy and painted everything The original plate portion was made of 1/4 steel plate but when I made the new one I used 5/16 plate for a little extra ballast. MAKE SURE to attach a safety cable from the upper end of the plate to the top of the trunk structure, in case anything fails or the winch slips from your hands.
PS...the steel components you see at the upper end of the keel trunk in Part 5 are not original. I added it for additional security. The original weight-bearing structure was all made of white oak, I just added the steel to it.

The park and lake looks so neat from above.
Especially in the fog
i'm planning to buy one used. how is it going after a year?
I had a mishap that resulted in some serious run-out. Prior to that it worked fantastically. Good power, excellent speed control and the table elevated nicely. Good spindle travel too. I have 3 other presses scattered around my buildings so I haven't spent time to see what the problem is yet. I'm hoping it's just the chuck. Keep the clutch wear points on the shaft clean and well lubricated. Binding is the usual death of variable speed pulley systems.
