Hello. Very helpful to understand what muscles are all involved in the hip, however do you have any insight on what the cause of the pain might be? It is directly where you marked the point on the title page of your video. Any insight would be very appreciated.
hi there, the cause can be contributed by many factors. it could be the same muscle, but the cause could be totally non-related for 2 different person. here's an example with person A and person B. A is a gym-goer, B is a sedentary person. A could feel pain on the muscle because of over loading B could feel pain on the muscle because of prolong sitting I hope you get the idea. Lifestyle plays a very big part as to what may cause the pain. I hope this helps. Cheers.

Great video. Thank you. Thanks for breaking down the muscles involved in all the movements of crossing your legs. This is exactly what I was looking for!
Do you have any tablet for the fluid to dry.
hi there, i don't, but i'm sure you will be able to get it from GPs and docs for anti-inflammatory. just remember that if it keep happening, something is causing the fluid to be produce. the tablets is really just temporary. cheers
Thank you for this very informative and easy to understand explanation about the knee-related muscles! I started hiking and trail running and sometimes get sore around the large muscles, so for example, back of knee above my calf muscle which sounds like is the popliteus muscle? Is this more like a stabilizing muscle? I seem to get sore with secondary stabilizing muscles but I used to think they were tendons (and confused how tendons can get sore)! This explains a lot!
What do you mean by rice??
rice is the acronym for Rest Ice Compress Elevate cheers!

My case is I had swelling on knee up.. now almost off .. but it doesnât fold properly a mild pain on knee .. warm water or ice applications which is helpful sir? But I do mussel strengthening exercises too
hi there, there are different things that can cause pain as well. swelling and inflammation is just one of them. warm water and ice both has its application, depending on the situation of the knee. both has its use, but if use wrongly, can also cause more harm than good.
My pain is in the si joints?
hi there, while it's good to be precise as to where the area is feeling the pain. however, do be open to the structures around the SI joint that may contribute to the pain. it also helps you if you are doing more research around that area.
@@AwBoonWei I been researching for the past 20 years seen over 100 people they don't know
@@rajindernijjer there is also a possibility with habitual and behavioral causes to the pain. i.e. how you sit, how you move, what you do throughout the day, etc. Sometimes it's hard to find out the causes, and the focus is only on the pain rather than the cause. just adding on, there is also something called referred pain, where you may feel the pain in the SI joint, but it's caused by something/somewhere else.

Thankyou for the video. I had croisette ligament repair and meniscus repair back in 1991. I had pseudogout this last summer, and bakers cyst. During pseudogout my hamstrings and inner knee really hurt. Since then my left knee is locked 30 degree bend. I had 2 PRP shots. They were unable to aspirate my bakers cyst. Iâm waiting for a TKR. My left thigh muscles are very tight. Left hip hurts too. I walk with a cane. I did see PT for a couple of months. I do have knee arthritis. Feels like a raised area above left knee. What does this sound like ? Any tips?
Hi Lesia, thanks for sharing. it sounds like there are many different 'symptoms' that can caused your knee to be locked at 30 deg. 1. pseudogout - the inflammation and pain can make you feel like any movement causes pain, hence restricting the movement. (physiological issue) 2. bakers cyst - this is mechanically stopping you to straighten and bend more, because physically the cyst is at the joint, restricting the movement. (mechanical issue) 3. hamstring and inner knee pain - yes, usually the hamstrings may be overloaded due to the restricted movement (muscle issue) 4. hip - and once the overloaded reaches it's limit, your body needs something else to take over the load, which then translate the force to the hip, hence causing pain too. (muscle issue) I believe the TKR is suppose to handle the arthritis and cyst, but do check with your doctor why the wait is needed. Or else, seperately check what else can be done to remove the cyst. right now, the relieving of pain needs to happen. that will consist of clearing and minimising the inflammation in your knee joint. muscle relieve for your knee and hip will then be follow up (or together with clearing the inflammation) because they can be done concurrently. strengthening of the muscles around the knee is tough because of the restricted movement. most ecercises need to be modified to suit your comfort level. And because it's just based on your input, this is how i would approach. do check with the doctors and the physios you are seeing, because they would be able to give you better advice based on what they are seeing. I hope this helps. Please take care. đ
Thankyou for the thorough detailed response. So far PT and my doctor said they canât do anything till TKRâŠ. They mentioned maybe another surgery possibly to release adhesions. Just frustrating right now.
â@@lesiageni2909 I know how it feels. The 2 things that can help a lot would be the clearing of inflammation as much as you can, which is to Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate (RICE), and to relieve the muscle tightness, soreness / achiness of the muscles around your thigh.
Terrible presentation.......every second word is "OK"....đđđđđ
Have been hunting through the CZcams videos for information for stiff knee, enjoyed your video but still need help my knee is three times the size of the other told its as bad as it gets I'm on list for knee replacement but he said he won't know until he opens knee up if he can do the replacement and may need to do a fusion, femur joined to tibia this sounds horrific and I don't want that done and wouldn't know until I woke from anaesthetic what procedure had been carried out and I dont understand why not ,I went to see him because the knee is so stiff can't get my knee bent to get into a car ,getting this fusion would mean never being able to bend the leg even slightly. I've been trying for gentle knee movement in hope it will bend just enough for me to sit in the front passenger side I can't drive, my problem is trying to get the leg in past car doors as they don't open wide enough my son visited and tried to get me into his car I managed it before, spent nearly 30 minutes lying across the seats back and front to no avail was so distressed and embarrassed had to go back indoors haven't been out for 2 years ,is there anything I could do to get my leg bending sightly more , know it will never go back to normal. I'm 81( F ) know that's ancient but my mind is still functioning , can't even order a taxi if I was desperate . Doesn't matter if there's no reply I just feel better getting this written down ,but any information will be gladly appreciated.
Hi Moira, thank you for sharing about your condition. Looking at the information you provided, there could be a few things on-going. 1. the inflammation. it is what's causing the knee to be bigger than the size of the other knee. Have you seen someone to extract the fluid and/or keep the fluid not forming. This can mean sticking a needle into the knee to extract the fluid (minimally invasive), and using medicine to control it to form again. Very commonly, osteoarthritis and tendonitis are the 'diagnosis', but there's more below. 2. the stiffness. the inflammation can cause the knees to feel stiff, and it will be difficult to bend the knee. it can also be caused by other soft tissues stiffening up because they weren't able to function and move in the range of motion, hence contributing to the stiffness. this can include the different muscles and tendons, and ligaments holding the knees. The meniscus and the cartilage can get worn out and taking the impact if the muscles and tendons are not working properly, hence also contribute to the inflammation. 3. the weakness. having not been able to the move in the range your knee is supposed to, the muscles around the knee can get even weaker than before, hence not having the strength to bend the knee, and also, not able to withstand the load and pressure put onto the knee (yes, and this also contributes to the inflammation and stiffness as well) 4. knee function. this sounds like something you are trying to achieve, which conflicts with the suggested solution. And it sounds like 2 different things you mentioned above. A normal knee replacement should have the function to allow you to bend. A fushion, yes, just means that its all stiff and straight. this is NOT a knee replacement. Having both said, a fushion won't get you the knee function you are looking for. A knee replacement, yes for function, but there is a lot of hard work pre and post surgery that you need to put in. This means visiting a physio or someone who can help you with prehab and rehab to strengthen the knee and build muscles (which is tough because of the stiffness). I honestly feel uncomfortable with the 'i don't know until i open it up approach'. And because you don't get to decide, it sounds like the solution is only to fuse it if 'i open up and nothing else can be done'. Don't worry about the age. I have seen many different conditions and they manage to work it back. Yes, not 100%, but it's better than the situation that they were in, most without the need for surgery. Please take care, and look for someone who has a better solution. I can only share as much as you have provided to help you understand your condition a bit better. đ

I didn't hear anything about how to fix or prevent knee pain.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. The reasons are also in my video. To put it in another manner, I know how the above would cause knee pain, but I wouldn't know how any individual would have knee pain. Every individual is different. i.e. someone is on a citibike, with external rotation while cycling VS someone in a road bike, with internal rotation while cycling Just the above examples, we have 2 scenarios that can cause knee pain. The approach to fix and prevent would be very different.
I tore my meniscus 4 weeks, ago and the meniscus is not hurting as much now, but my knee hurts because it's still swollen. Any recommendations
Hi Carlos, i'm assuming that you have seen someone to get diagnosed, if not, whatever i mention below doesn't apply. If you have seen a professional, medicines would be given to reduce the inflammation. You should also be advised to reduce loading your knee to reduce the inflammation (imagine having and open wound and you try to apply pressure and force on it). This will only make things worst. The above method in my video will help reduce inflammation as well. Are you doing all this as mentioned? Lastly, the hurting in the knee may or may not be caused by the swell, unless being assessed. So if the swell is still present, clear them off first. Don't take too long, the pain can cause you to change the way you walk and hence change how the muscle function. Take care mate. Cheers!
My knee was badly swollen and painful then it became better but there is a clicking sound while I am walking. Why is this?
hi there. there may be some change in how you function when the knee was swollen and painful, causing different parts of the structure around the knee to be taking the load. You may want to take a look at the structures involved with the anatomy video i created: czcams.com/video/TcQmTlWzH-I/video.html while it may not cause pain right now with the clicking, there may still be a chance of irritation and inflammation in the future.

hi there, thanks for the question. my advise is to go back to your physio and have it checked. if you haven't watch the video, please do so. you will notice that there are many parts of the body involved. without a proper check, it would not be possible for me to know what's causing the pain and what you can or cannot do. please take care.

Which muscle, on the back of your knee, is responsible for holding your knee in place when walking? For example, I suffered several strokes in 2020 that affected my right side. Now when I walk, my knee has a "popping" action. I am having a hard time finding an exercise to strengthen this particular part of my knee.
Hi there, the condition for patients who suffer from stroke is slightly different. My approach is to train all muscles around the knee separately, and not just the one holding your knee in place. Start with activating all of them first before you increase the intensity (reason being, if you can't get it activated, let alone with weights. Compensation from other muscles could happen, which may make things worst.) Do consult someone from a medical/healthcare background and not a personal trainer (there are good ones who knows their stuffs of course). Take care!
What exercises help us release from the pain. Please help me.

So what's the muscle between the glutes? Kind of up and in.
Hi Chelsea, thanks for the question. That area you are referring to has many muscles overlapping each other. they are: iliocoastalis, Lat dorsi, longissimus thoracis, multifidus. That's if you are only refering to the muscles. đ€
Okay, well I'm not sure, I'm trying to figure out how to deal with or treat what I think is muscle pain with a slight compressed nerve in the top of my butt. I feel an off sensation in the top back of my butt that triggers an imbalance in my gait and makes my head then feel off. I'm not very confident in the ability of traditional drs to help :-/ it started I think a month ago when I started a new job so I have since altered how I perform the tasks and it is a seasonal job so I only have about a month and a half left of it, but I'm afraid I've injured myself. I guess I'm open to any thoughts you may have...
@@chelseahuffman5106 that's a valid reason for straining muscles around the area with new movement patterns. If you could share the movements involved, the nature of the job, that would help as well. As for now, we'll need to try to stretch those muscles. You can refer to this 2 videos: czcams.com/video/mq04x-sVjfQ/video.html czcams.com/video/sPge9VvJfCE/video.html they are the same. try to feel the stretch where you are referring to by adjusting how far you go. you can also be doing this standing, with knees bend things to note: to do this multiple sets a day each set to last for 30 seconds do it slow and gentle take slow deep breath (make sure you exhale everything) keep me updated? cheers!

Hi there, suggestions as mentioned in the video. It can also help with ruptured baker cyst. Would also need the help of medication, which would be better advised by the GP. To also monitor the condition. May require surgery as well, which would also be suggested by the GP if different medication has been given. I hope this helps. Cheers!
Thank you,n God bless
This was very interesting. I think the video would greatly be helped by showing on a regular person doing the movement and pointing to the different possible areas of pain
Hi there, thanks for the suggestion. It's not easy to find a model these days, but will see what can be done. Cheers!
