    I don’t have a problem with golfers who play slow, I have a problem with golfers who stand there for multiple minutes without a single thought going through their head before saying “fuck it” and just going up there. What I don’t have a problem with is golfers who take a while because they’re actually thinking about every single factor that could change how he hits the ball.

    It actually reminds me of a web novel. The main character there is a spear fighter. And used physics to enhance how he fights. Even when he teaches, he shows the math and logic behind each action of a fight. After all, if it's golf or fighting, it's all just math. Force is mass times acceleration.

    I wouldn't refer to Bryson as "weird", which to me is somone who behaves in an odd way. He has a unique approach to playing golf (including his golf clubs all having the same shaft length). But clearly whatever he is doing is working for him. The only thing I don't agree with is him performing in the long drive competitions (the prize money is paltry compared to PGA events and it is a way to pre-maturely wear out your body back/knees/shoulders/wrists for good), whereas pro golfers that remain healthy, can still make top dollar until there 50s/60s if they choose (that includes with endorsements/appearance fees).

    Great video!! I am a Big supporter of BDC!!! One correction however Tiger (while undeniably the greatest player of his generation) was the 2nd longest driver of his generation. John Daly lead the PGA tour in Driving distance every season but one from 1991 through 2002 (Davis Love III lead in 1994) in that time Tiger finished runner up to Daly in Driving Distance a half dozen times. Still no shame in that. ;)

    I don't think we can describe something that is not a 1 plane swing, a 2 plane swing.... 1 plane in space makes sense. If you are not following a plane, than you are free moving or following another shape maybe a mobius idk...

      @jmodified Před 7 dny

      They kind of indicated one plane on the backswing and another on the forward part, which would make sense, but the "two plane" swing they showed was not quite that - it was fairly planar on the backswing but not on the forward part. Maybe that's normal - I don't know anything about golf swings.

    Golf should be efficient, but also elegant. Sometimes DeChambeau is efficient, but never elegant. He was not consistent in the way Sheffler and Åberg was able to finish at the Masters. The way he looks brings me to questions of how the anti-doping work is managed at the LIV-tour. It could be because I am ignorant, but I sensed someone looking like the Spanish skier Johann Mühlegg. The commentators called it muscle-golf. Muscles are ok, if they are built in a natural way. The person then normally looks natural as well. That was not quite my impression at the Masters 2024.

    Once again, it's a bit of a misnomer to say Tiger was longer than anyone else. Guys like Snead, Palmer, and Nicklaus in particular were just as long. Nicklaus was hitting 341 in 1963, for God's sake. Think of the equipment and course conditions he was playing with. Nicklaus was also truly the first to have a more scientific approach to the game, and he could bomb it on every hole if he wanted to (that was Palmer's approach). His peers used to talk about playing with him poking it out 250-260 and then cranking it 320 on demand, but only when he needed it. Today's pros have tried and can't replicate his results with steel shafts, small persimmon heads, and a wound ball. With modern equipment, he still tied for 6th in the 1998 Masters at age 57.
