Our New Boring Bar......And The Things I Regret #vannorman777 #boringbar #homemachining
We picked up a 1932 Van Norman 777 boring bar for a decent price. We were basking in the glory of our new toy and making test cuts on our 302 engine and mistakes were made, lessons were learned, and we're looking for another block.

Ford 302 Engine Rebuild - Part 1, Block Prep

We have a 1990's Ford 302 roller block that needs to be rebuilt. First things first, we're going to clean the block using Easy Off Oven Cleaner and a pressure washer to remove the old oil film that's inside the engine, I like to chase all my threaded holes first so clean threads can be included in the first wash. This is also the time to look for potential problems and evaluate if you can do th...

Now that I’m in my 50’s the cars seem more difficult to work on. There’s no room to remove parts. Like they’re made for little Asian hands instead of larger American hands.
