I would like to pose this question that was asked of me during a recent interview. You are following a TSS lane on a power driven vessel, and being overtaken by a Sailing vessel in sight of you. Risk of collision exists. Which Rule applies to this situation? Rule 18 Responsibilities Rule 13 Overtaking Rule 12 Sailing Vessels Rule 10 TSS I was only allowed to choose one option. I decided to go with 10, though in reality, you can't say it's either 10 or 13, as both of them would be applied in this situation and they don't even contradict one another as in both rules, the overtaking vessel would have to give way, which in this case is the sailing vessel.

is it possible in this scenario that the vessel on stbd side is overtaking vessel? if so, then she need to alter her course to port side and pass astern of other the vessel, if the situation is clear then she could go back on her original course.

I have one question about that rule. what if boat moves backwards? I had big discussion that if boat moves backwards then her starboard side stands in the left hand side and you should pass boats crossing your course from the left. but this is stupid I think

Se komentar glede smiselnosti Skipper liability insurance in Deposit insurance. Naceloma zavarovalnice zaracunajo vecje premije za primere, ki so bolj kompleksni, so vecje zavarovalne vsote, ali pa so bolj pogosti. Recimo, Deposit insurance je relativno drag, ker se zahtevki zgodijo relativno pogosto (v primerjavi z Skipper liability, recimo). Ce so pogoji specificni in izjeme natancne, to se ne pomeni, da se zavarovanja ne splaca vzet, to samo pomeni, da so zelo natancno dolocene, kar je naceloma dobro za obe strani. V vsakem primeru se namrec splaca natancno razumeti, kaj je krito in kaj ne. Je pa branje pogojev ena izmed manj zanimivih porab cajta u lajfu, ja :) Kot vedno pri zavarovanjih, gre na koncu za presojo: ali ja moje tveganje, da se zgodi natancno to (!) za kar sem se zavaroval vecje kot pri drugih ljudeh? Ce charteriras veliko vec kot drugi ljudje in si veckrat izpostavljen tveganju, ce si zacetnik in stvari ne obvladas, ce rad pocnes bolj riskantne stvari kot drugi ... potem se zavaruj. Vedno pa je presoja odvisna od povprecja obnasanja vseh ljudi -- na to so zavarovalnice kalibrirale svojo ponudbo. (Bizarno je pa to, da so ravno zavarovalnice edine, ki natancno vejo kako se obnasa povprecje, a nam zal tega ne izdajo.)
V videu 13:00 so prikazani pogoji Faircharter pogodbe od YachtPOOL insurance ponudnika, ki so samo zgled pogojev, ki jih lahko nekdo podpise s Carteristom. Pogodbe, ki sem jih jaz podpisoval so bile vecinoma z agentom in vecinoma so bile veliko krajse -- 2 strani pogojev, recimo. V teh pogodbah recimo ne pomnim klavzule za max hitrost vetra -- se posebej pa ne 25 vozlov. Kar me pa je pogosto presenetilo, je, da jadra niso bila vkljucena v zavarovanje, to pa, in pa, da so bili pogoji vecinoma preprosti in kratki. Zanima me torej, ali so vase izkusnje nasprotne? Ste dejansko podpisovali taksne pogoje kot so tile od YahtPool? Oziroma, ali sem morda s podpisom pogojev agenta posredno podpisal tudi pogoje najema charterista -- ki pa jih nikoli nisem videl? (kar me potem verjetno ne obvezuje?)
