    Is there any way where we can specify this subfolder into own repository by specifying a path along with history without deleting other files in the main cloned repository? ... Mostly think of it as moving a this subdirectory from main repository into its own while keeping the history and file structures the same ?

    Have you ever considered collaborating on a project? I've been working solo on small projects, but think it would be really cool to co-develop a project with someone

    • @CraigDavisonDev
      @CraigDavisonDev Před 7 měsíci

      I have thought about it a little bit, and it would be very cool, but I'm just not too sure on which type of project! I think a good one would be something simple without user information, as you would have to be a bit strict with access. If you've got any ideas I would love to hear them :) There is a discord channel linked in the description if you want to post it there?

    • @CraigDavisonDev
      @CraigDavisonDev Před rokem

      Hi Carlo - apologies for the late reply! The only way I get no signal is if my device isn't turned on. It could possibly be the HDMI connection. Does it work with any other devices or with a different cable?

      @carlomartello9790 Před rokem

      @@CraigDavisonDev Thanks for your reply ! I have solved the problem, caused by a bad insertion of the HDMI plug in the connector of the raspberry due to the thickness of the wall of the box that houses it and too small a passage......now it works perfecly

    Installation instructions for Windows: 1. Get Python3 from the Windows Store www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9PJPW5LDXLZ5 2. Download the latest version of the script from Github repo github.com/newren/git-filter-repo/blob/main/git-filter-repo and save it as a python file. 3. Place the python file somewhere in the $Path variables, like: c:\Program Files\Git\cmd\ 4. Call the tool using: git filter-repo.py OPTIONS Basic Usage: 1. Clone the repo you want to filter 2. Navigate inside the repo 3. Filter after _your-subdirectory_ using using: git filter-repo.py --subdirectory YOUR-SUBDIRECTORY/ 4. Create a remote repo and then add it to the newly filtered file: git remote add origin github.com/YourName/Your-Subdirectory.git 5. Push the files to origin: git push origin main (edit) split installation from usage and spelling

    • @whitestrumpf
      @whitestrumpf Před 4 měsíci

      @@ccol-wn9no I had the same issue. You need to run the tool twice: * The first time, to create the new repository from the subfolder. * The second time, you exclude that subfolder from the original repository. That way you get a new repo without the original history and you get your parent repo with everything but the subfolder history in it.
