I’ve read stone yard and dnfed xx
You're the first person I've had comment on that one. Maybe not one to rush to get.
Hi Milly! Let Booker season begin!
Looking forward to an exciting time
@@millysbookshelf2101 I have just started Enlightenment and I really like it….up to yet :-)
On order from the library. But have just started listening to The Safe Keep on Audible. Half an hour in and the dynamics look as if they could be interesting
Not remotely jealous. 🫣and here I am trying to sneakily eat a bowl of porridge hiding in the bedroom without the kittens finding out.
Bless them - I miss my cat trying to steal my food
I wish I had some tips for you about crocheting cushions but I think you're doing amazingly
Thank you - though now I'm having to do the pattern in reverse, my head is spinning.
Yesssssss, more cats!
If there’s a cat or two, well I just have to 😃
@@millysbookshelf2101 it's a solid rule. Never change!
I won't.
I really enjoyed The winter cottage by Rachael Lucas …. At the moment I am reading her new book The lighthouse library and enjoying it 📖💞
I’ve not got around to reading anymore yet but I would have to go to the Flower Market as even though they can be read as standalone, I just have to read in sequence. I know I’m odd 😀
@@millysbookshelf2101 I normally do as well but I will read this and read them in order … I always read my cozy murder mysteries in order but I just loved the cover of the lighthouse library and couldn’t resist starting it …📖💞
Enjoy - you'll have to let me know what you think
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Cold enough for Snow.
With the Booker list being announced next week, I won't be getting around to this one for a while - but it is one I've been looking out for for quite a long while.
Im watching your video from Malaysia.. Love the books you got there🤗
Thank you and welcome
@@millysbookshelf2101 Is Cold Enough For Snow good? I might get one copy for myself
I haven't read it yet but am looking forward to it as I have heard a lot of good things about it
@@millysbookshelf2101 Ouhhhh thanks, i heard the a lot of good reviews bout that book. Maybe you can share with us your review as well, im looking forward for ir..🤗
As soon as I've read it I'll pop up with a review. 😊
I very much enjoyed this. I found it gritty yet lively. I was very impressed with the writing and the story and the way she welded the timelines together until there was a resolution. I was totally invested in Alva, Lu Fang and in some ways, Sloan. I really admired the `juddery` writing with Alva's coming of age story. I felt there was a deliberate dizziness to it compared to the rest of the chapters. Some of it was shocking yet it was signposted skillfully yet still shocking when it happened. I was raging at how they treated the servants yet didn't Alva make it up to her in a way that Zooey's father didn't. Aube Rey Lescure was describing how some expats treated Chinese (abuse).
It was excellent and parts of Alva's story were shocking and heart-breaking
Keep it up, it looks gorgeous!
Thank you - haven’t had to undo any rows for the past couple of days
Great review! Just finished the book. Greetings!
Thank you
I would pick cake! Love your channel, Milly!❤
Thank you
Sounds good.
I’ll pick up the new one at some point
It's so worth it to have the physical copy of it, I have underlined to many quotes! - great review :)!
Thank you - even now I cannot bring myself to underline or annotate books.
We all have a variety of persona’s to match any given situation. Case Study to me was a wonderful musing on existentialism and a very funny read. I enjoyed it enormously. The authors previous book “His Bloody Project” is fabulous.
I'll add it to my watch list - thank you
I love your reviews!
Thank you
Welp, another to pre-order. There is a Japanese manga split between it's main character writer and a cat's perspective. It is called My Roommate is a Cat.
What is it about Japan and cats 🤣 I’ve not come across My Roommate is a Cat-I’ll have to google it-thank you for recommending
I love your reviews, thank you
Thank you
Utterly boring book. I ve read about 40 books in recent 2 years. This is worst rated sadly.
It’s good that we all have different opinions - bookshops would be very boring if everyone in the world liked the same type of book
I loved all 3 books of the series
It's years since I read them but yes, a lovely series.
I finished reading the book just now. But I didn’t understand the ending quite well . Could you please explain what happened at the end….
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS I wish I could - I read the last few chapters again when I read your comment and am not sure if I have got it right. I think the nurse is the sister - perhaps. And as for Guy - I assumed he just disappeared - that he was the one who left the watch but what if ....
Was good book.Thaxs
I enjoyed the trial and the cross examinations
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, i just finished the book and was a taken aback and wanted to hear other people's take
It was certainly a book that I had to take my time over
Another wonderful thoughtful review, its next on my list. Milly if you haven't read Tides by Sara Freeman yet I think you would enjoy it.
Thank you - this is what I love about CZcams - the book recommendations that come my way. I've already googled Tides and yes, it sounds like a book I need to find.
Absolutely love Mike Gayle ❤
9 months later but if you still haven't read the travelling cat chronicles you absolutely must! i liked the goodbye cat (partly as well because it references the former), but i LOVED the travelling cat chronicles. i agree with you about short stories not grabbing me so much, but please please read travelling cat chronicles if you havent yet!
I actually bought it last week so will be reading it very soon.
I loved memory police its one of my favorite book .. getting this asap
Maybe I should pick up The Memory Police
Omg this sounds so good ... is this a book a long read ? What would u recommend audiobook or physical read ?
It's about 300 pages, I think. Iistened to it on Audble - 9.5 hours - and enjoyed that. Physical or audio? I think physical purely because it is always easier to flick back and check something, but I do like being able to sit back and just listen too. I've not really answered you have I? Sorry.
@@millysbookshelf2101 u answered my questions just fine . Thank you 😊
Glad I was of some use 😊
I had no idea this book existed.. I haven't read Brooklyn even though I watched the movie, and you made it sound so good I might actually give it a try!
I know I read Brooklyn before this but I don't think you need to. I liked it.
I loooved this book.
Sadly, it didn't work for me - but it would be a boring world if we all liked the same books, wouldn't it?
🥲 this book is wonderful
It is - I've loved all of her books. I need her to write another book - I've got withdrawl symptoms.
Enjoyed as always.Take care b safe..
Thank you
Enjoyed Thank You.
I quite liked Barnaby
I love this book and I loved Sprout I cried a lot at the end of the book and I can't stop thinking about it
I loved it - one of the highlights of my year.
Está bien está bien está mejor😅😅
Exactly
Sounds lovely, not released in Norway until August but I will look out for it.
I thought it was such a lovely concept
Hi, will you be reviewing The Restaurant of Lost Recipes. For a comfort show I 'd highly recommend the Japanese show titled Midnight Diner.
It's on my list
I too, loved this book. At first I thought it was too clever by half as Nick Bradley references a lot of things. The film Mishima: A Life in 4 Parts is pointed out. The elderly woman who is left on a mountain to die as the family cannot support her, so they take her off to die is a trope. See the film The Ballad of Narayama (1958) and it was used in a recent Japanese film, with a trans-national marriage between a Japanese man and Philippine Woman. I know someone who lives on an Island in the Seto sea. Having visited Osaka and Kobe you can see the scenes. I like his other book, The City and The Cat with the interconnecting characters and different styles. You can walk the route of the Cat's journey in the book. Once you have read it, he was interviewed on SAOS CZcams channel and answered questions from the chat. He commented on mine about Midnight Diner.
I have developed a real love for Japanese - Japanese inspired literature and I've failed - I still haven't picked up The City and the Cat
You're reading all the books that are piquing my interest and I love it. I can't wait to read Restaurant of Lost Recipes.
Neither can I
Fantastic book!! I would highly recommend this to historical fiction lovers. I just started my summer vacation and WOW what a way to start it. I am planning on purchasing this book for many of my relatives at Christmas. Highly recommend!!
This was one of my highlights
Fancy seeing you again. Randomly came across this book. I'll add it with my order of Full Moon Coffee Shop.
Hi again - I thought this was really good with it’s sprinkling of magical realism
@@millysbookshelf2101 sounds just what I need. Trying to write my own. Within universes but a new adventure each meeting
Good for you - good luck
Almost Ruth Galloway country
It is - I’ve read most of the series
@@millysbookshelf2101 yes I love them and am fearing the end when there are no more to read! I have Night Hawks with me on holiday and there are only 2 more!
I think I'm three behind
Added!
Hope you enjoy it
Nice! Where's this?
Sheringham in Norfolk
Bliss
Can’t beat it
love this book, thanks for sharing😍
There are some lovely moments in there
I made a hexagon cardigan (only my 2nd cardigan.) I had to solve lots of problems when making it: add width in the back, make the sleeves taper, add length when I've no more yarn and the company stopped making that colour. I finished it and it looked good enough to wear, then you know what? It stretched like a yoga afficionado! I couldn't wear it, it was about 4 sizes too big. I hope someone at the charity shop got it and it was perfect, but 😤!
Poor you. This is the fourth garment that I have tried to make and I think I’m going to stick to blankets and cushions. The first two came out huge - can’t wear them to go out but they were good fot keeping warm last winter 😂
@millysbookshelf2101 I'm trying to make a mesh top right now. I'm hoping that it'll be nice because it's supposed to be loose and that it won't be heavy and stretch because it's mesh. I suspect I might not have chained enough for it to be as baggy as I want, but I'm going to fix that with a row of flowers in squares down each side seam.
Sounds really nice - what colour? My problem is that I haven't got the experience behind me to know how to adjust when things go wrong.
@millysbookshelf2101 It's pale pink. I don't have much experience making cardigans or jumpers, but I've made a lot of scarves and shawls which I usually give away because how many does one person need! So now I'm trying to do some tops. My advice is choose yarn you can frog, then you can try again if it's awful or gift it.
Good advice
Canary Wharf looks amazing now!
it's an incredible view from there
