@@seydan69 thanks for answering. Is a 9 weight too much for this kind of fishing? I've been to Seychelles once with my 9 weight I really struggled to cacth a single fish 😅

@@incensespa808 No, a #9 is also fine and not the reason. Probably just nothing bigger there just then and rather too big patterns for the small fish up to a foot or so that one usually catches about anywhere..

@@seydan69 yes probablement wrong time at the wrong moment. Next time i Will take smaller flies. I used like 3/4 inch flies.

@@incensespa808 These are small enough. With patterns that size you should be catching small fish about anywhere on the reefs and weeds. Just the sandy areas are usually not so lively.

Hi Ross, charter options are very inhomogenous here on the different islands. Best is you contact me via the website (small read on boat options btw) and let me know what time of the year you want to visit which island for what kind of fishing and I will provide you feedback to my best knowledge.

Was a funny thing: the guest had a very nice setup but ultra heavy so he was killing himself. As there seemed no big fish around that day I lent him my old Alutecnos Blue Jigging PE5 which was my very first jigging rod so also quite old. Seems that big Doggie just waited for this. Incredible we managed it on that thing with a Saragosa 8000 and 60lb line. We were so lucky ...

As there was not that much fish it needed a few bad jokes ;-) August is only good if you like trolling, are very seaworthy, don`t mind days impossile to fish and have deep pockets for a big boat. Read the section about the seasons on the website if you like and want to get a clearer idea what makes sense at which times.

Else I would not have been stuck here for 10 years now ;-) Shore spinning is also an option on most islands while on some it is not allowed due to Marine Park regulations. No reasonable angler who wants to release a fish will grab IN the gills as these will destroy them and kill the fish. No problem though to get a grip under the gill plate if one does that right.

Da er ja brav anfroderungsgemäss gefangen hat durfte er rein ;-) Immer nett mit ihm; hoffe aber sehr dass Du Dich beizeiten mal dazu gesellst.

Lieben Dank. Ist bzw. war aber auch viel Glück dabei. Und es hängt auch immer davon ab was vielleicht gerade am Start ist. Die Queenfish in der Grösse scheinen beispielsweise Kunstköder generell zu scheuen. Dazu kommt das La Digue nach meinen zugelieferten Infos und begrenzten eigenen örtlichen Erfahrungen auch schwieriger ist. Irgendwie scheint es da weniger ufernahe Fische zu geben (obwohl ich auch dort schon Golden Trevallies und Bones auf den Riffen sah). Hat allerdings wie gesagt viel mit dem Glück zu tun, zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort zu sein. LG, Daniel

Is that from barotraumic pressure or just from a really long fight

@@graydenemberton4818 In this case I think both. Fish was in a depth of around 230m some point when it gave up completely. From then on it was just a long hevy retrieve. Barotrauma can be sorted out in most instances by venting them as I showed in the April 2019 clip but the bigger they are the lesser are the chances they make it. Even if the depth has been rather accomodating.

Majority of guests here are from Europe where right handed anglers crank left. Right handed crankers are mostly but not exclusively from South Africa.

@@markoreynders7475 Difficult issue mate: Seychelles has very strict immigration and employment rules. Nearly impossible to get a work permit & visa for a job that locals can do. You would need to find an employer that can make a viable point why he needs you and your skills that no local has. Tough to realize for that one I guess you agree.

@@seydan69 This is true and i do have a few contacts in the Seychelles that i am talking to but your guys' videos impressed me a lot so i was just wondering even if it is difficult whom must i get in touch with?

@@markoreynders7475 Not sure. Probably firstly the Department of Labour to find out if yo u legally stand any chance at all. Then find an operator that is willing to employ you. But for the reason described really don`t see a perspective to be honest.
