HK was a new star when the British beat China in 1840s Opium war. It was so important to the British that they were willing to sacrifice their sons in the war. The brightness of HK star was directly proportionate with the West's economic power till today. Realistically, HK will definitely lose it's shine over the next decades when the western economic power diminish. As Kishore said, HK could shine again by attracting the world talents to work and invest there as English is widely used. But this time, it's the Chinese who will provide the jobs to tap the world's talents.
