Newport NK180 kayak motor on Lake Bastrop
yes , a longer paddle would work nice
👍
What happens when your dragging it through rocks and skipping across gravel, does the bottom get all scratched up and compromised?
All kayaks get scratched, that's part of running river.
One of the things this vessel had going for it over those shallow rapids and submerged sandbars was its shallow draft. A kayak with a true keel would have been hung up at least 2-3 times on those submerged sand bars that the K-Craft went over in this video.
Have you since mounted a transducer on this guy? The transducer mounting area looks small on mine compared to the other old towns
Why do i need to drill 14 holes. couldn't we do half of them?
Use all screw points the kit comes with. A stronger contact with the kayak makes the rail less prone to bending
How does this paddle upstream compared to a crescent? This seems more stable than a shoalie, but is it slower paddling. Would you pick this over a light tackle 2?
How much more stable is this kayak compared to the coosa x, bite, and mica or ultimate?
How is the performance paddling up river, compared to a ck1 or other kayak? Great video btw, very informative, thank you.
Its ok, ck1 is a little better imo
Well done, thanks.
👍
I weigh 250 lbs. would this kayak work for me with a bow mount trolling motor.
Yes, absolutely it will 👍
Where did you guys put in at?
Location anyone?
wtf they used to be under 1k? 😮
yup, they were a bargin just a few years ago!
@@tgcanoesandkayaks heck yeah! I picked up the 120 for $1,600 yesterday 😭
@@Jnt710 Its ruff right now 😒
Thinking about getting this. I live on the gulf coast of FL so how’s paddling with this in currents? Because that’s what I worry about is fighting against currents and being more worn out than enjoying myself. I would love the pedal drive one but it’s just too expensive.
I'm interested in buying a NuCanoe U10. How big is the difference between the U10 and the F10? Thanks for your help.
The U10 is a huge upgrade overall from the F10 imo. Unless you find a F10 for a heck of a deal, I would go for the fully featured and updated U10.
Great vid!
👍
I noticed underneath your seat, directly behind you, there was a lot of water bubbling up inside the kayak.
Yup, motors add more turbulence and can create those bubbles. You can also plug your scuppers should you desire to block them.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Oh, ok. I can definitely see where that could happen, I just didn’t realize the bow mounted trolling motor created that much turbulence. I purchased a Mossy Oak bottomland F12 less than a year ago, but after further research, I now wished I would have purchased the Unlimited model. Thanks for your quick reply!
@@Rammerjammer_83 Thanks for dropping by. Have fun on the water ✌
Great video!! Does the motor come with a battery charger, and can you easily remove the battery and charge it in-house ? Thank you
Yes a charger is included, and you can charge it in your house.
I dont know why this information is so hard to find, thank you for such a great informational resource!
👍
Paddling upstream and floating and fishing back down to the put-in, sometimes shallow rivers. Considering Jackson Bite, and crescent ck1 or lite tackle. I have been using canoes for years and hoping a kayak will be easier upstream. Will one paddle upstream easier, or one drag worse than the others?
You will enjoy a kayak for doing that, It's basically how I live my life. First off, how much do you weigh?
@@tgcanoesandkayaks I'm 6'3 and 190lbs.
@@JasonBuchek-wh1ww ahh nice, you can paddle anything you like. My favorite throw and go would be the CK1, however if you desire to stand up alot in the kayak then go Bite.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Thank you. That was my initial thought until I saw the Bite, then thought maybe Lite Tackle since it's the same weight as the Bite.
CK1 has been my main rig since it came out. Like it so much I have two of them. Since adding a Primo I have spent a lot of time in that. Looking forward to a video with that little boat. Definitely took me some growing to get comfortable but everything I wasn’t super comfortable with initially is everything I love more about it. Obviously a smaller boat but has proven overly capable and has actually changed the way I paddle.
I hear ya, the Ck1 and Primo are awesome! The Primo, is a little squirrely then the CK1 but more responsive due to it's Smaller size.
Looks like they will float pretty shallow?
Yes, very 4" or so
@@tgcanoesandkayaks thank you sir for the reply. I'll be in touch later this morning to get more info.
Nice!
what a bad ass kayak
👍
I pick up my Unlimited and a 260 aquabound paddle tomorrow. Can't wait to get back on the water. Thanks for the vid.
Hey, enjoy and have fun with your new kayak 👍
Crescent makes great yaks, I have the lite tackle 2, bought my wife the K craft this year, it’s fantastic going to buy one for me now as well
They sure do, enjoy your Crescent kayaks 👍
I would think you should seal the holes some how?
You could add silicone if you like
I was thinking the same thing? Maybe some kind of clear waterproof caulking?
@angusbeef1574 yeah, E6000 works well
I've been thinking of getting a second boat for when I want to take my Golden Retriever with me on the water. There's no place for him on my Coosa HD. I think this boat just solved my problem. Thanks for the video Alex.
Have fun with your dog on the water 👍
Used to install. Worked perfectly 👌
Nice 👍
Awesome yak. It's funny how they want to become boats. 😂😊
Can I use it for salt water offshore? Long island South Shore fishing?
Ok sounds good i appreciate it i ordered it i was wondering if the malone ecolight with the v stylr racks would haul the k craft and a shoalie thanks
Awesome kayak!
Good video you still liking the kayak i have really been thinking about it for small creeks and rivers and ponds
Yes ! sure am, go for it!
Just wanted to say thank you for the great video reviews, especially the on water reviews. Definitely helped me make my choice on getting a Jackson Bite Angler, picking it up tomorrow. If I was in your area (I am in Quebec Canada) I would definitely have given you my business, your family is clearly passionate about paddle kayaking and you have combined that with fishing. I will keep it simple and see as I go what I want to add but the open deck is one of the pluses I really like and want to keep it uncluttered. Keep doing what you are doing it definitely helps. Appreciated
Greetings from Texas. Super thankful for the kind words Philip. I love the Bite, It's such a great versatile kayak, have fun on your adventures!
Any chance u will cover the bonafide skf117? Looking for a really low draft kayak, sup, skiff, etc. That I can push pole over the really shallow parts of creeks.. tired of getting in and out all the time. I know the vibe cubera has a really low draft. But not made in usa. Hoping to find a usa made kayak that has a low draft.
Looking at paddles for my Crescents, used almost only in rivers. Did you find that 250 a little too long.
240cm is perfect for most Crescent's. I just happen to use a 250cm
I was told that the Yamaha 4-6hp rubs the hull. Did they ever fix that problem?
Never rubbed for me, been running it since 2016
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Thanks, I always liked Yamaha.
Awesome video, it there a section that would be deep enough for a hobie pedal drive? Or even a different river. Maybe one you can camp on as well?
was fishing this exact same spot earlier, any tips for this area? i’ve been using flukes and swim baits just because the current is strong.
Enjoy your videos! Crescent LT II vs Jackson Bite Angler - if you had to choose just one?
Thanks !
Are there any kayaks you would recommend that have the same stable feel as the old towns but are easier to paddle?
Jackson Bite and the Crescent CK1 are more maneuverable and work well on rivers.
Im 300lb and 20 lb of fishing gear, will the 106 hold me and i be able to stand and fish?
No, I would go much bigger
Are you going to go with a rear mounted motor for the rivers?
If we were to motorize it for a river, it would need to be a stern motor so it would kick up when contacting rocks, submerged wood, or the river bed. A bow mount would be a liability on shallow rivers.
How can I get my hands on 107 fusion ?
This was a limited edition, and only 100 were produced. You would have to get lucky on the used market to find on today.
What is your thoughts of the sportsman 120 compared to the jackson bite or yupik? Thanks
I expect you mean in performance. The 120 has a pontoon style hull which makes it stable but not very maneuverable - good on flat water and slow moving rivers. The Bite is stable (35" wide) and, with a flatter "V" hull, reasonably maneuverable - good on flat water and moving water up to Class II. The YuPik is an open concept, flat and bay water kayak that's seaworthy and easy to motorize and add accessories. All three are worth a serious look.
Amazing video!! Thank you ❤
I like you motor setup, just want to find out With 12V100ah battery, how many hours of run time you have on the water ?
Way to many variables to give you a great answer. If you are a tourny guy, you would want to recharge after every session. For us on a 4-6 hr day on the lake, low winds and mixture of full power/half/and some spot locking, we go multiple trips with out recharging.
Great review video
thanks 👍
