Have you ever looked into the short bridge they sale on their website? Just curious if it be better for a thinner guy not needing the extra bridge length? Thanks for another video. First year with my jx3 so these videos really help!
Hey, I have not. However, I have considered an amsteel bridge.
Thx for stopping in!
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors yes that would be pretty slick.
Rope around your waist is a terrible idea for a fall arrest device.
So I see you have bullman tree steps? And what else you us for feet ?
It varies. The Bullman ROS works great with the JX3 but so does the platform step from JX3. I have a video on how to shoot 360 with the JX3 and showcase that on there.
Just got mine 😄
Sweet
Love the videos. I use a JX3 myself
Yours is by far the best review of this platform. Thank you.
Thx for the feedback!
This was a great video on getting to the tree. But it seems more important to be able to put that coldweather clothing on while at height. Could you please demonstrate that!!!!!
Great idea!! I will work on that!
Your attention to detail is incredible. I was looking for ways to reduce slack and you nailed it. THANK YOU!
Thank you! I appreciate you stopping in!
Thanks bud
Yeppers
Very detailed review. Appreciate the time taken to explain every feature and then showing us you putting it to the test. Watching you move around the tree helped visualize the practicality of each shot. Thanks!
@@MrSimonka11 thx for stopping in!
Love your videos! You got a subscriber
Thx for the kindness!
Is it safe to say thjs is your favorite saddle ?
I like it and it definitely has its advantages. I just try too many for me to say that I like one. This is an a class of its own.
Sewed loop or scaffold knot better?
I would go with the Scaffold Knot
How does it work for a fat man ? Im 340 pounds and the weight rating is only 300 pounds.
@@AA-fg3wj I would have to recommend you calling them and talking to them about that.
Just got mine! Your videos helped with the final decision. Thanks! Set up question: I am new to saddle hunting. Coming from 15+ years in a Summit climber. One of the benefits, as I understand it, is the ability to use the tree as cover. If I anticipate deer coming in the direction of my easy shot (10 o'clock in your video), am I climbing and hanging as you are in the video? Or do I have the pole in between me and the target (10 o'clock) and then rotating for the shot? Hope the question makes sense. Thanks ahead of time for your reply.
I think you could experiment with both and if you feel like you need less movement, then come out from behind the tree a little more. I think whatever you get comfortable with is best.
While you’re hunting and hanging in the tree. Your using same rope and mad rock as your tether correct? Not switching to a traditional tether
That is correct.
While you’re hunting and hanging in the tree. Your using same rope and mad rock as your tether correct? Not switching to a traditional tether
Correct.
I have the rebel. I notice the straps come into contact with the top bracket after toe camming. Have you noticed any wear on the straps at that contact point?
I use the USA amsteel attachment
Could u do reveiw of your ring on steps using jx3 or different types steps or platform for feet ty
@@douglasgillenwater5803 absolutely give me a little bit of time and I’ll try to do that. You can watch my other videos and I show you how to shoot around the tree that might help you out.
@platinumpursuitoutdoors this be my first year hunting with jx3 so got lot to learn
Thank you just started climbing and was completely lost
@@davidmartin6927 hey you’re welcome! Good luck!!
Can these be used on XOP lock on platforms
You can use them pretty much on anything with a versa button
Love your vids. Thanks for the time you put in. You've sold me on the JX3 for next season. Hunted in a Summit Goliath for years. So comfort is still important for me. I like to get up around 20ft. Can you point me to a specific aider that works well with the JX3 steps? Thanks!
Thx for the kindness!
The Ultimaider works nicely! Get a 3 step for the bottom stick and you can still get like 18’ with 4 sticks
Once again nice job, love your videos.. I’d love to know what your summer time scouting consists of. Not sure if you’ve ever considered making a video of your routine and techniques. Just a thought! Thanks!
I have thought about it, I just need more TIME 😁
Just got my JX3. Im a committed summit user but wanted the versatility of a saddle but with comfort. How do you go about putting heavy layers on? Im thinking bibs on ground but was wondering if putting a jacket on in the with a jx3 is very hard? Thanks for the videos!
So once you’re in the JX3 and in the tree you can undo your shoulder straps and put you jacket on and then put the straps back on if you wanted.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors great thanks !
Great video I put my linesmen and tether under the seat straps while transporting. It frees up my two shoulder bags for other stuff. I also run the JX3 top stick and 3 Latitude sticks 1 with a 2 step aider and 2 with a single aider.
Nice!!
Really liked the video. Got my JX3 last fall after watching your review and have been practicing one-sticking with it this summer. I think it will be a great setup for me this fall. Didn't like the JX3 bridge, so I replaced it with a Amsteel bridge. It allows me to rotate much easier to reach down and grab the onestick. I'll be packing my outer clothes sandwiched into the JX3. Thanks for the video.
Nice man good luck!!
I would love to see you use the stick combo as a one stick set up I did it last year and would like to see if you had any advice as how you would do it
If I was to do that I would put a hearken cam cleat on it for sure. Other than that it would work like a regular one stick set up except you wouldn't be able to advance the tree as quickly.
can aiders be add to these sticks
Yea they can.
really doing a figure 8 crossing to tie to tree
You make great videos. You should try one sticking like I do it. Watch (ONE STICKING). It's a new safer, easier, and quieter way to climb. Called the S.M.A.R.T. Method. (Stix Mechanical Advantage Rope Technique)
I am leaning towards a CGM Cobra for my first saddle purchase this year. I am torn on the waist belt though. Rope belt with sliding knot. Webbing belt with D ring buckle. Upgrade to a Raptor buckle. Upgrade to a Cobra buckle with D ring like a riggers belt for a secondary safety option… Any guidance or suggestion is appreciated. Thanks
Rope all the way for me.
Hey got a question. If I were to opt to use the included strap and stealth taped the sticks, what would be the best way to climb up the tree with my remaining sticks securely attached to my saddle without having to constantly reattach the included strap? Seems like even with stealth tape they would still make noise if not reattaching the strap on the way up the tree. Seems like the only way to avoid this would be to get this SSS system.
That’s a good question you would just have to try to experiment with it and if it’s making noises find the contact points and put some more Stealth strips there.
I always just remember "Eye to the sky" with all belay devices. The carabiner connection point is always at the top or where the anchor point is
I like that.
FYI. It's illegal to hike in groups larger than 10 in the caribou-speckled mountain wilderness
Are you talking with or without permits?
I just ordered a pair. They have 20% off this weekend. I thought I was subbed to your channel, but I wasn't... So I did LOL
Hey thx lol
Congrats!!
Thank you!
Nice timing, I actually used my knee pads for home repair too and, well now I am in the market for new knee pads lol. Going to be looking at several, but these were on my list. TY for the review!
Thx for stopping in! Good luck!
Awesome video, thank you !
Yeppers
These look awesome. Did they finally make a right and left pair now? The originals the strap was on the same side on each pad
Yes, the two I have the straps are opposite.
Very good review of the backpack! I've been looking at it for a long time! I'm currently using Dash! MRK 2, I was hooked on its functionality! Question: when you load the backpack to the full, including in the compartment where the sealed bag is inserted, is there a moment when it pulls back strongly!?
The MRK2 has functioning loads of lifters that allow you to adjust the load from pulling backwards. It functions like most external frames would be expected to function. I have found for me, my next move is to buy some molle pouches I can add to the outside of the pack. I find myself maxing out the pack with my camera gear.
Any other questions let me know.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors Thanks for the reply. I like your experience, it makes me want to buy this backpack))). I love hunting very much and, accordingly, I am very attentive to clothing and equipment, including backpacks. Backpacks are generally my weakness)) I came to the conclusion, based on the use of the Dash backpack, that for me personally, the material of the top of the backpack is preferable to Cordura, it's good that this model has such an opportunity. I'm from Russia, I translate the text through a translator. If I wrote something incorrectly or confusing, I apologize in advance.
@konstantingromov9728 hey no worries. Any other questions let me know.
This model is not yet available in Russia! You'll have to order it! What not to do for the sake of your favorite hobby))
Like the new improvements, but one thing I did hear in a couple different videos is a squeak from a rubber boot sliding across the platform which could be alleviated by having traction nubs on the top of the platform. LOVE the fact that it’s a soft platform because my feet get sore when hunting season starts. When traction nubs on the top of the platform come with the the newly designed V4, then I will purchase this product 👍
I enjoy your videos, always well done. I have started a channel to try and help hunters be safe while climbing. It's called the S.M.A.R.T. climbing method. It would be nice to get your opinion. Hope to get better at making videos but it's about content for now. Hope you check me out. Thanks
OK if you could only afford one of those saddles which one would you buy?
I am so used to the latitude saddle, I might be partial. But I think there’s a couple things to take in the consideration. One is your size. If you’re 250 pounds or bigger per se, you might want to go with the cruiser. I would try to see if there would be a way for you to try them both out before you purchased one.
@@platinumpursuitoutdoors There’s no chance of that I live in Alberta Canada, The shipping is usually around $60 plus then I have to pay 37% exchange rate general sales tax of 5% plus duty charges from Canada Customs it’s a circle jerk God forbid something doesn’t fit then I have to send it back unless it was a grossly poor fit or terribly uncomfortable you’ll make it work, Last year I was 250 pounds and I brought the TX five Saddle but since then I’ve dropped 50 pounds I’m down to 200 and it’s a bit sloppy so looking for a better fitting Saddle but my problem is just like you said with the size categories my waist is 36- 38 now down from a 44, That’s kind of right on the edge of the large size with not a lot of grace
@Canadaman4403 I don’t think you can go wrong with ether. The Latitude packs really nice. The Cruzr has great comfort.
@Canadaman4403 It’s so hard because one thing I found out is that Saddles are so personal. Each person‘s body type is different and fits everybody differently.
Great review
Cool video, congratulations on a great bird!!
Thx
now i need a tomahawk to go with my battle axe😀
Haha nice!
FYI, the scaffold knot is always 3 wraps. A two wrap is a poachers knot. Good video. In addition, the scaffold knot is a slip knot, which you didn't mention, and that is an important part of inspecting it for safety.
Thanks for stopping in!
I’m looking at getting one of these used! I really like it!
Get 3 platforms and a ratchet strap, is what I might try
Let me know how it works.
Have you tried a three step aider yet?
I have not tried a three-step aider with these particular sticks, but I don’t feel like I would have any problem doing so.
