Fantastic to listen to! A real insight in to the mists of war…. “Obey the last order” was sound reasoning! Lovely to hear your father chatting and even Mum got a few words too. Watched yesterday’s 80th anniversary and had total admiration for all the veterans approaching 100 years of age! Glad you got your Dads recollections 20 years ago… a piece of history.

Well done for getting that on tape while your dad was still in good shape. I wonder how many story’s went untold…

I’ll be driving past next week on the way to the Lemans 24h race and plan on visiting the Beach’s on the way home. What a bunch of real life hero’s.

Been camping there many times. One of the best places in all of the USA!

Why did you go both up and down via Tengpoche when there is a better high trail on the opposite side of the valley going via Mong La and Phortse to Pangpoche? You get much better views from that side, also solitude and lots of wildlife like musk deer and Himalayan tahr. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.

I don't think you can beat that set up--and that Honda, amazing, amazing engine, it really is. And it's useful life is second to none. Thanks for posting, be safe.

Just a reminded to one and all. When you are on "auto pilot"--especially when you are in an enclosed cabin with limited visibility all the way around. KEEP you eyes peeled, and sweep your head side to side, covering the water around you. "Keep a sharp look-out" is not just a saying. It is--by law-the job of the operator and at least one other person to "keep watch". So, with this couple, neither should turn around and go to the transom for example. On the ocean, keep a sharp watch; boating is fun, but it's serious too, think about it: some person in the water needing rescue--and you go right on by without seeing them, or a floating log, that you hit, or a boat "coming out of nowhere"; hey it never happens until...it happens. So have fun, but stay focused especially when you are moving, but even at rest, pay attention. AND, not a bad idea-not just for kids, but for everyone to get that life jacket on, no downside.
