Hey what camera would u suggest for documentary / interview . I am thinking of fx3 with vmount and 24-70gm ii. I had an fx6 but I want to shoot broll , but with fx6 is very hard to get it on gimbal.

Good advise. If I'm going to be setting up in a location and do several interviews over an extended period I also use AC power with my FX30. A supply of batteries is always available if for some reason AC has a problem. I have been doing something like that for years. Long before the advent of current mirrorless cameras (BetaCam, DVCPro, etc.).

you have it mounted wrong, the lidar has to be aligned middle axis of the lens. also with your apple test you can do back focus, this means it focuses on object that are furthest and not whatever comes in front, just twist the wheel to the infinity then wait few seconds and it'll launch that mode.

how do you mount ND filters on this Rig?

We need that for an FX6

My one frustration is the way you switch between AF and MF modes: you can’t do this without moving the focus point, so if something passes in front of your lens it would be great to temporarily stop AF until it passes and then resume it straight after from the controller without the focus point having moved.This small software feature would add so much more control. I hope this and other features like tracking come in the future, but for now it’s a useful piece of kit. It’s really great to have a small, wireless system that you can put on any manual lens and which enables you to use AF for tricky shots like push-ins and the stuff you show, but then have manual control for all the other times when multiple things are happening in front of the lens.

Perhaps in version 2, they will implement a detachable eye for the lidar. That way, you can attach it to a matte box to avoid the lens-blocking issue.

From the looks of things, this only works only when the subject is in the center of the frame. For narrative work that's impossible. Seems like the elephant in the room.

does it work well when using a telephoto lens?

My hesitation with this system is that it has a 24mm field of view, and a limited range during the day. Its smart and cool to have it all in one unit, but I think the way DJI went with their system is better, unfortunately the amount of money you have to spend for that system is silly. you need a monitor that is 2k, a gimbal that is 1k, a focus unit that is 700+ bean, they're smoking. I hope for v2 PD movie can give bit more FOV, something like a 10-12mm FOV and slightly more range, at that point this would be golden.
