I like the song, but that stretch of water is open to the sea. It would take a helluva lot of filling, and the salt would somewhat spoil the taste.😂

If you notice Andy Stewart, didn’t drink the nip of whisky, my father was his friend in his later years, he had stomach cancer and couldn’t take in the beautiful drink of Uisce beatha (the water of life).

Andy Stewart was my dad's cousin. My dad sang this song so often when I was a kid. It's only of the only songs I remember my dad singing.

I lived with my Scottish grandad and Irish grandmother when I was young and this was one of my favourite songs....having a wee dram of Oban listening to this celebrating St. Andrew's Day Slaintè!

Aye , I sang the song a few times while stationed at RAF Machrinish while serving in the US Navy in the mid 70's , CHEERS !
