I was extremely fortunate to work with Dr. Charlie Gay at Arco Solar Inc. in the late 70's and early 80's where he led the successful pioneering effort which demonstrated large scale, high volume, terrestrial solar cell manufacturing and concomitant scales of economy. As a kind, brilliant leader, he invited many including myself to join in and believe in the vision of low cost PV energy for the world. We can all be forever grateful for his seminal role in this effort and his relentless pushing forward development of knowledge and understanding and practical application on a global scale. It is not an understatement for me to say working at Arco Solar in those early days under Charlie's leadership and vision set the course of my entire later career for which I will be forever grateful.

TS is ignoring the fact that OPEX of transmission is very low, whereas what you're paying for transmission is payback of the CAPEX for installation of you grid connection. This cost cannot be avoided, but most markets have decided to pay for the installation costs of the grid via consumption tariffs. So unless you want to have *no* grid connection, the cost cannot be avoided. In this scenario, it makes more sense to change the tariff system to one that reflects the real cost, meaning that you pay mostly a monthly fee for access and then a hour-by-hour variable congestion charge.

Seba, Frederic, Anis 30 minutes of earth-moon interaction produces more renewable energy than 1 hour of solar irradiation. We have earth, water and air tides. The earth is a "ball" deforming 40cm twice a day. Water Tides (sea) depends on the types of costs and in some areas they go above 10m. Tides of air push clouds goIng up and down some 100m twice a day. In few years people will also understand how to extract cheaper energy from gravitation. It will also be with higher power density. Yes, we absolutely need more solar, wind and batteries but meanwhile nothing worse than "Natural gas"...sorry Shale gas.... (GWP 75 in a 20 years timeframe, and GWP 103 if we also consider the interaction CH4 with water vapor). The leakage in the pipe lines and before its use is a state secret in US and in Russia.

Around (18:45) Seba states "that Tesla has broken through... and is the most valuable car company on Earth"... well, not according to traditional economics. Tesla is trading around $600 at present, a full third off it's high of $900. And, most importantly, Tesla's Price/Earnings ratio is still an astronomical 900 something. GM, Microsoft, other companies, and here's the traditional economics part, usually have a P/E ratio somewhere around 20 to 40. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower, but not 900! If you consider Tesla at a P/E ratio near GM (somewhere around 20) then you'd find the apples to apples value of Tesla at a market cap around 45 times lower than it is now. If you think a company with a P/E ratio over 900 is somehow a value?... I can't see it. I see something propped up by emotion, as no rational person I know would consider a stock with a Price/Earnings ratio over 900... that's text book 101 overvalued. Speculation value for Tesla?.. Then, sure go ahead if you're a speculator. But, for a "normal" investor, (one who considers earnings then price) a P/E ratio over 60 is already indicating over value by the market, but 900?... you're out of this world to think that has any real value.

Tony, the newest disruption, not yet been adequately discussed, is the one that is the cheapest clean energy technology to soon cast an economic shadow even over the currently cheapest solar and wind electric power production. These present green technologies must still be combined with the necessary newest batteries and energy storage device technologies. Large scale regional solar and wind, apart from being unsightly, requires an equally unsightly, expensive and massively expensive electric grid system and many batteries to support them. Not only is the grid unsightly but it has electromagnetic field production long term human health implications which have been proven to be but one source of a multitude of e m radiation sickness symptoms and cancers. This newest currently available energy is plasma fusion nuclear-based. It comprises “a safe and easily choked and any scaled fusion electric energy Safire Generator” as it requires only this simplest “Safire Generator”. To understand it completely you need to be well versed in the newer “Electric Universe Theory”, most easily learned via “The Thunderbolts Project” website and specifically then the website for the “Safire Generator” and the largely Canadian developers seen at “Aureon Energy.com”. The “Safire Generator” can be built on any scale as it is electromagnetic in nature and therefore it can be available within any sized local community as needed. This capability makes large scale and expensive electric grid systems ultimately almost obsolete and large scale more remote solar and wind simply now so much less necessary and economic. So, the net cost of Safire Generators for electric power supply will be cheaper than with all other green and fossil fuel technologies, especially when they lack of the need for beefed-up grid transmission costs are factored in. We will not require to expand the grid to thus enable much more electric supply as small-scale generators in smaller local communities are easily possible (Think, no further need for more ugly wind turbines and vast expanses of solar cells and all their added new grid upfront costs.). We need to develop and install “Safire Generators” across the world and empower a new societal generation with much-improved equality of wealth distribution levels based on exceedingly cheap power. Safire generators can replace the fuel rods, control systems and containment buildings in older fission reactors, At the same time, they can remediate the spent and unused fuel rods thereby leftovers as contemporary immensely expensive refuelling would otherwise be necessary. One of the great things about the Safire Generator is that it does not need heaps of expensive batteries to support its function any more than the existing fission reactors do. This new possible ridiculously cheap energy available to all could be a great societal leveller. However, we must also realize that this will not be welcomed by all. Supplying this new universal energy is simple but peacefully transitioning our society to accommodate its consequences is certainly much less simple. However, the cat is out of the bag now and anyone can reproduce the physics and the technology so we cannot avoid facing it. Tony Seba, I totally admire your research and everything you deduce and say, but I believe you now need to further now update your message. This new EU plasma science and its practical Safire generators have the additional benefits of being able to remediate dangerously radioactive nuclear waste. They also produce a whole range of nuclear elements by transmutation with no need for expensive and scar-forming mining on a worldwide basis. This is what I call “nuchemy”, as in the change in the atomic nucleus to transition to entirely new atomic elements throughout the table of elements. The self-produced hydrogen fuel of this fantastic fusion system produces massive quantities of heat that can be directly used for the thermal requirements of heating and driving all industrial processes as well as in generating green and virtually costless electric power. Using these Safire generators, we can then retrofit existing fission and fossil fuel generators and then build many new more of these new fusion reactors. If we built these near their users the new fusion reactors could almost manage without ugly, dangerous and now less necessary interconnected major grid systems. Let me know when they figure out that you cannot maintain an economic model based upon the continual depletion of earths resources for endless profits and gains, on a planet that has FINITE resources. Our monetary economic model is NOT going to solve the issues of sustainability. The minute you add the profit motive? You negate sustainable practices due to its impact upon human behaviors. And you cannot legislate human behavior. There is not a single law in history that has not been broken out of necessity, jealousy or greed. Our survival on this planet is in no way different than the needs of all other organisms that inhabit it. The minute you put a price on any resource, product or service you are limiting access to that resources by some other segment of society OR nature, for your own gain. You are putting one person or groups advancement, over the needs of biosphere and everything else in it. This economic model is NOT scientifically valid and never has been. Everything on this planet depends on everything else for its existence. Including us. But no other mammal in nature lives above nature as we do. Our entire economic model does nothing today but turn nature into waste for short term profits. Everything is being built to be disposable, to be replaced by the next product cycle in 2-12 months, or to break down as soon as the warranty runs out. And all of this consumption and continual production for endless GDP growth is being driven by the psychological manipulation of human behavior of the advertising industry. Our true nature is for thrift and conservation. The result of an existence of physical scarcity through out our evolutionary history. Our entire social structure today is based upon centuries old ideas about human behavior and value. Antiquated ideas that are not only no longer socially valid? But that were never scientifically valid in the first place. Psychologically speaking? Our entire social arrangement today is arranged in a manner that is the antithesis of what it means to be a member of the human species. We are the most social creature on the face of this planet. We do nothing but excel with cooperation. Yet here we all are believing that without monetary incentives man would not contribute to the health of his community. We are locked into a system where everyone believes you need to be out for yourself to survive and that monetary success was the key to happiness. How can a system that creates inequality and competitive antisocial behaviors by its very existence, be good for a species that is driven by cooperative and empathetic natures? We need a new plan. One based in solving problems. Not sustaining issues to enable profits and gains. That is why we invented money in the first place. To solve the issue of scarcity in the environment. Its a tool to solve an issue. Nothing more. Just an antiquated technology to address the issue of scarcity. Take a look around you. Look at all mankind has developed in the last 300+ years. Scarcity? There is not a single issue of scarcity on this planet that is related to our survival as a species, that we do not possess the science, technology, resources and expertise to overcome on this planet today. We have everything we need to meet Maslow's hierarchy of needs for every soul on this planet in perpetuity. The only things that are scarce? Are not required for our survival. Money is doing nothing but maintaining artificial scarcity to enable the profit structure to exist in our advanced era. Over 3 million dollars worth of goods and services that we had to pay for 20 years ago have now been replaced by free apps on your cell phone. And we are on the cusp of digitizing and demonetizing every segment of our economy over the next 2 decades. Everything about this new technological era is teaching us to do more with less, and at reduced costs. That is what is driving the economy today, not increased consumer purchasing power. Tony's prediction that renewables will replace fossil fuel will fail. Fossil fuel is stored energy that has been accumulating forever. The size of the battery that can match energy stored in fossil fuel approaches the impossible value of infinity. In time it will become obvious that renewables will need the constant support of fossil fuel power running in the background to avoid long periods of energy shortage. as long as fossil fuel is necessary for the reliability of the system, the cost of fossil fuel power cannot be eliminated. At some point it will become obvious, that for almost the same cost ,fossil fuel can continue to reliably supply power, and renewables plus batteries is just an unnecessary expense. It is simply impossible to build enough battery storage to match the performance of fossil fuel!

Wind and solar are totally destructive technologies when used for large scale energy production. Solar is good for satellites and pocket calculators. Solar panels installed above the latitude of Los Angeles will never produce more energy than was required for manufacture. Windmills installed in Texas on average only produce usable electricity less than 10% of the time. In Germany, all those costly short lived solar panels they installed only produce usable electricity less than 10% of the time. The renewable energy religion is a deadly and false religion as is the doomsday religion of climate change.
