How to clean an oxidised or rusty slot car track
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 3 lety
Hi everyone, in this Video I wanna show you how I cleaned my strongly oxidised slots from a used Scalextric Sport Track. My track has not been rusty but if you have rust on your track the method is actually the same. Just make sure to wipe of all the rust after using the lowest grid sandpaper.

Hi guys this is my first Carrera Track ever. It´s a Digital Track with wireless controllers. Lenght is 16.6 meters. No extra power supply needed for one 1:24 car or two 1:32 cars. Including Timelapse Track Build, basic car optimisations and modifications and a test drive. The Porsche is straight out of the box I just took the magnets out. I don't know why people complain when using no magnets and carrera original tires. I find it the most fun like that. I like it when it is sliding and it get's more competitive between cars like this when racing. That is my opinion at least :). Do whatever you think is fun. Magnets are also fun.

hiya mate, how do you service your truck? mines incredibly slow, even for a mk1 roadtrain with the twin yellow cogs on the back

  • @markhuckercelticcrossbows7887

hiya, how do you service your trucks, what braids etc? i just picked up a mk1 low loader, seems incredibly slow, i know the ones with twin yellow gears on the back were slow, but this is inceribly slow

3 in 1 oil on tyres and sticky tape to clean tyres and she'll run like a dream

This video on how to remove oxidation works but it's a lot of work on a large track. The easy painless solution is to use model railway solution called RAIL ZIP. RAIL ZIP removes very heavy oxidation through a chemical reaction. Leave it on overnight and just wipe off the next day. I've been using Rail Zip on my tracks since 1968.

A good video! A little tip I would add is to screw a short piece of straight to a board and clamp the board to the table. You can the plug the track piece into the straight and stop it moving about while you clean it.

Thanks man, yeah it looks and drives great. Only problem I have are the front tires. They dont have full contact to the track sometimes. There is a noise like the car would scratch somewhere at the front,. I tried a frankenslot quide keel, but it did not get better. Haven’t figured it out yet. It’s the only 1:24 I have at the moment, but the Ferrari 250 gto and Corvette grand sport are coming soon.
