John Allan Cameron - And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
John Allan Cameron was a Canadian folk singer, and this is, in my opinion, the best recording of this song ever.

I am so sick & tired of all this WOKE garbage!! Gilbert & Sullivan's Operettas were meant to entertain the public. If one finds these Opperettas offensive, then DON'T WATCH them!! Gilbert & Sullivan also wrote H.M.S. PINAFORE, PIRATES OF 55:01 55:08 PENZANCE & other Opperettas, what do the most stupid woke generation complain about in these other enjoyable & entertaining shows!! To me, woke is a synonym for marxism, faciaism, nazism, islamism, & any & ALL OTHER terrorist/gangster organizations that do exist or might exist!! WAKE UP PEOPLE & see this WOKE GARBAGE FOR WHAT IT TRULY IS!!

Since I had to listen to this for my History and Literature Course, I want to ask anyone of Japanese descent. Is that actually what happens? Once the groom is executed, the bride is to be buried, or is that just something Gilbertson did?

Henry Ingram as Nanki-Poo has a charm and style reminiscent of Dick Powell in the 1930s and 40's musicals. This is so lovely!

Pooh Bah, Richard McMillan - his performance makes this Mikado soar above all others. Entrancing and incredible, his interpretation is extraordinary. Gideon Saks, the bloodthirsty Mikado is wonderful. A flawless production, fun and entertaining as per Gilbert and Sullivan concept.

  • @gabriellew6467

By far the best Mikado to be found on CZcams. There simply is no other Pooh Bah that can touch the incredible Richard McMillan. He was incomparable. While the whole production is wonderful, there is one more performance that elevates this one: the Mikado, Gidon Saks could not be bettered. An experience not to be missed.

This is one of the better non-standard versions of the Mikado I have seen but I do not like the way Pooh Bah is played and all the dancing. To me nothing beats or will ever beat D'Oyley Carte productions, Brought up on them from the late 50s when I was 7 and their singers were superb. It was a Golden Age.

This production is incredible. This cast and director make Mikado one of my favorite pieces of my literary heritage. I think that it is so tragic that the Japanese consulate and Japanese community organizations are so racist as to claim that we can no longer do this production in America. How dare we let these foreigners dictate to us what we can and cannot enjoy of our own literary heritage.

  • @seniorskateboarder5958

I first saw this in the 1980's with my mother. Oh, we fell in love with it. All the actors and actresses are wonderful, but I must admit that my favorite is the fellow who plays Poo-Bah. People who don't know theatre don't know that he had to practice from the very first day of rehearsal how to manage those robes - and he does it excellently without ever looking as though he is trying to manipulate them. He had to practice every chance he got. But that is the duty of an actor.
