    Let's first calculate the time John has been driving when Phoebe starts: John's driving time = 5:00 pm - 3:00 pm = 2 hours Now, we need to find the head start distance John has covered during those 2 hours: Distance covered by John = Speed * Time Distance covered by John = 60 mph * 2 hours Distance covered by John = 120 miles Since Phoebe is driving at a faster speed than John, she will catch up to him at a certain point. The relative speed between them is: Relative speed = Phoebe's speed - John's speed Relative speed = 80 mph - 60 mph Relative speed = 20 mph To calculate the time it will take for Phoebe to overtake John, we can divide the head start distance by the relative speed: Time = Distance / Relative speed Time = 120 miles / 20 mph Time = 6 hours
