I was 15 when this song was released, and on holiday in Devon in England's West Country with my parents. We were staying in a farmhouse, and the owners daughter, who was about my age, invited me to a local disco with some of her friends. 54 years later I can still hear 'Spirit in the Sky' booming out. We had our lives in front of us, thought we were invincible and the future looked bright. Having been on life's roller coaster, and experienced some lovely ups and painful downs, I'm on the final leg of the journey. Songs like this can open portals to memories long forgotten. I attended a Brian Wilson concert about 12 years ago and following the concert he sold items like cd’s and hats. I bought a blue baseball cap that he signed. It is one of my most cherished possessions-and after he signed it, I told him thank you for helping to define my teenage years. Superb memory for me!
