Cringed every time you cut them. The one you wanted it sharp, fine. But instead of cutting them like that use a pair of pliers, preferably linemsan pliers to grab at the base and twist like a screwdriver until the plastic breaks off. It will leave the end dull instead of sharp. Cut off ties scrape and can cut you when working in tight areas.

Lot of led bulbs can be fixed the same way, however , it does change the indivgual bulb voltage. lights may be slightly brighter, and shorten overall bulb life. But then again, who cares, you got light. good post for non techs. ty

Are you insane?!? You shorten/bridge a defective LED? This nonsens has been around for a while. While this "hack" works, the lower resistance of the circuit will stress the resting LEDs (and electronics), leading to even faster burn-out. Also: the contact resistance will vary and can lead to further problems! Either, you calculate the circuits current and add a matching resistor, or : determine the LED type and replace it. In any case: GET SOME SOLDER EQUIPMENT and don't tell people, they can fiddle around in a 110/220V bulb, by applying tape!!!!!!
