Fishin' and Fixin' shxt
Registrace 1. 12. 2016
Just what the channel title implies. It's a place for me to dump videos about fixing and fabri-cobbling things and a place to drop videos of me fishing with family/friends, or by myself. Occasionally the two subjects may coincide.
I was the repair shop manager for Seven Corners Hardware in St. Paul, MN when the owner finally got an offer for the property that he couldn't resist. I now work at a small repair shop in Minneapolis, fixing power tools that people have broken.
I got the boat for free in the spring of 2016 from a friend who got it from his cousin who said that it ran when he parked it last. Classic story, right? Well, it didn't run and I brought the old Mariner 90hp inline six back to life. You'll see it in action in some of my videos. It is too much boat for that little Tercel to handle, so I got the van in early 2017. The car is currently for sale.
Also, like my Facebook page, if you would.

1977 Suzuki DT9.9 carburetor disassembly
This carb is so simple. Simple to remove (I'll show you when I go to put it back on the motor) and easy to disassemble.
It was pretty clean inside, except for a tiny bit of corrosion. I'm going to scrub all that out and hit all the little holes with a needle file.
Sorry about the video. My camera work sucks and so does my commentary. Also, my garage can get pretty disorganized, so I spend some time hunting down tools. Someone who isn't an idiot would have the tools laid out and be ready to go, but that's not real life, is it?

This is a cute little shop style table saw with an 8" blade, just like my Hitachi C8FB compound sliding mitre saw. These smaller saws are nice because I seem to get a better, cleaner cut. No doubt it's because of the higher RPMs at the tooth edge of the blade. The clattering sound it is making turned out to be due to a loose arbor pulley. I put some red colored goo on the set screw and tightene...

So it taking more then one day to recondition is normal?
How long do the battery reconditioning stay on for???
after you get the flo. does it needs to be recharged? or are you done?
You're done. Flo is float charge which is basically trickle charge, I have this B&D charger in the video, it's reconditioning my Duralast battery now.
LOTS OF TALK....NO INFO......I have 2...they both quit while charging my Dodge double battery
Chill out sport…. Slingin crap around like you have some special hybrid version of a cross between turret syndrome and Parkinson’s disease. By the way that cord was fine
How many times did you recondition the battery? 2x 3x ?
My last Duralast Gold battery I reconditioned it probably 7-8 times with this same B&D charger in the video. It will tell you when it's dead by not even going into recondition mode and says by putting up a warning triangle.
Ok, this one I have now, just died yesterday, it was only 8 months old. I called a Autozone near me. He ordered one for me which it will be there at 1 o'clock. It seems that towards the end of 2023, there was a bad batch. Mine was dated 10/23. I saw someone said on a review his died and was dated 8/23. This one would just recondition constantly but never hold a charge, no warning message nothing. I had it on the charger for over a day and half with no improvement.
@@leonardrhodes1958 that's funny because I had the same issue with a battery from AutoZone my date was 12/22
Wow now that’s walleye!
Attached this to the positive and negative posts away from the battery itself(I wasn't sure this would work.....negative on the car frame, positive off of the fuse box....hit the engine start button after a 10 second count down then the cars start button inside the car. To my surprise. it started the moment I touched the start button...so much easier than taking my cables out on a windy 17f morning ...an eight year old battery that came with the car when I bought it. It made my day!! Great unit...much better than the previous four or five I purchased over the last 50 years.
Mine stopped working, only shows the cables when i plug it in, any idea?? No buttons do anytbjng
Would you recommend?
This charger goes dead fast if you monkey around with buttons and the connection and disconection procedures.😮😮😮😮
No, it's supposed to be small side up. You're not really doing much to concentrate the flame or drive the heat inwards rather than out the sides. The problem is western residential stoves really aren't made for real wok cooking, both in BTU output and the grates. You actually have potential in having a bunch of flat space around the hob.
Kodi Bass from Inside Outboards channel, smears some vasoline on the fuel pump diaphram. This must make it somewhat flexible again!
Long term review on this charger would be good.
Exactly like the everstart, exactly like the vector, I wonder who really makes them?
Depends on the size of the wok. 99/100 would normally have the small side up for mine 🤷
Show all of the units that you commentors are making have actual ones that work? Mine doesn't
What in the hell did you just say? 😂
Finally I see someone do it right!
I’m trying to charge my mower battery it’s completely dead, I hook it up hit charge and it went straight to reconditioning? Is that normal and will it automatically start charging after it reconditions?
I don't know about the automatic part of it, but after the recon cycle it should go to FLO (float charging). Hope this helps.
When you hit the reconditioning button, did you immediately see numbers cycling as in the video or did that happen later?
You won't see anything until after 24 hours it will happen automatically
I opened the box connected it to the battery. The screen comes on and the imager for the connectors flashes like there is not a battery. Is it unit defective or is my battery that dead? I tried it on two batteries
Do you charge it normal and then put it in recon mode ? I put mine in recon mode but it not show percentage or the amp
Oh my god? Five years? Dude!
lol that's bullshit you will never get anything done properly without air mixture valve and high pressure regulator
Fishin' and Fixin' shxt, What Horsepower and RPM is the motor. I have that exact same saw as well as the Jointer/Planer unit that was made at about the same time. Unfortunately its all disassembled and I only have one motor. Not sure where the motor should go planer/Jointer or the Table Saw?
I'm afraid I can't answer your question as I no longer own the saw.
@@fishinandfixinshxt6660 Thanks for the reply I was hoping ;)
Is this a Vector in Black and Decker clothing or the other way around?
Black and decker junk.
I have this unit... It has paid for itself. Now I am reconditioning a battery that is in good shape... But I notice that when the unit automatically goes into "Charging Mode" after reconditioning it shows the voltage as continuously dropping! WHY? Is this showing the amount left until full charge?
Unless I'm mistaken as the battery gets closer to fully charged, the indicator will show a continuous reduction in the charge rate until it reaches the low "float" level, which maintains the full charge.
When it says FLO, it's done...you can pull it off. This means Float charge (trickle charge).
It'll start a vehicle with a dead battery in 90 seconds. Mine has several times, non fail!
Adding a clear instructive commentary and keeping things in camera view would be an enormous help.
This same charger casing is a Walmart Ever Start, Stanley, now BD!
And Home Depot under the Vector label.
Mine does not show the amps.. but does seem to work!
You got a potty mouth. I turned it off.
Question: what the FLO mean on my charger?
It means that it is "Float" charging. It drains the battery a little and then charges it back up to keep it active and fully charged. "Float charging is the technology and method of maintaining a battery in the charged condition by applying a continuous voltage and current at the minimum level to maintain a full or near full charge."
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, repair seems to be going out of style with a just replace it mentality 🤨. I have a metabo we 9-125 quick that I want to use at its low end of the rpm. It only wants to spin at higher rpms and if I turn it down it doesnt want to keep spinning with any sort of light pressure. Then it surges with power suddenly. The brushes have small grooves where the springs hold them down, is it time to replace? Any other parts that may be the culprit? Thank you again ✌🏻
While you're checking the brushes, check for loose/charred connections where the leads from the brushes go into the field. If I remember correctly they tend to have issues at these contact points. I've seen the receptacle where the spade goes into the field widen from vibration, make intermittent contact, and end up black from the connection arcing. You can usually squeeze them tight again and file off the spade. If that doesn't seem to be the problem, you might have a bad electrical unit. You could bypass it and use an external speed control. Harbor Freight makes a router speed control that should work.

Mine's in recondition mode no matter what, with any battery. Dead kitty.
My father got me this for my birthday. Hooked it up to my Mustang which sits in the garage a lot during winter and immediately went to reconditioning. Let it sit on that overnight and unplugged it and now the LCD screen just flashes on and off even when unplugged until it finally runs out of power. I'm guessing it's a defective unit?

I bought the BC15BD 2 days ago and put it on my Lawn Mower Battery that I just bought last week that went dead trying to repair my John Deer Starter. When I tried to charge the battery it kept going straight to the recondition mode. My battery was reading 2.7 amps and it still went to recondition mode. I tried to use the Engine Start mode a couple of times and it brought my voltage up to 12V, But then I tried to CHARGE again and it kicked it back to Recondition mode. The battery is only 2 weeks old and I cant get it to hold a charge or even get the BC15BD to charge it. Any solutions or help with this??
Batteries can be bad off the shelf. Is there a "born on" date on the battery anywhere? Perhaps it sat on the shelf long enough to discharge. When a battery sits discharged it tends to go bad. I would take the battery back and exchange it. Maybe grab one from the back of the stack where they put the fresher ones, like produce at the supermarket.
New switch,& lead & brushes look good !! What next to get my Metabo w9 115 up & running ☹️
Test the cord with an ohm meter. Also, make sure the brushes are making contact with the armature. Sometimes the end of the brush holder will heat up and form a sort of dam that prevents the brush from making contact. I've had to file out brush holders so many times that I just started doing it automatically. Have also had to replace plenty of melted brush holders. If nothing else works, try testing the field windings with your ohm meter. Hopefully you can find the problem. Most often it's a dead cord.
@@fishinandfixinshxt6660 tks v much , super advice l ll try all that 👌💨
New spark plugs and strip and clean carb and jets and it should start and idle no problem.
Took the carb apart to clean and found brittle parts made from unobtainium. Had to look for a different carb. While looking for carb parts I saw a carb on ebay that looked very similar. I was able to make it work and she's running like a champ now. I did replace the plugs as well.
@@fishinandfixinshxt6660 you wouldn’t happen to have a link for that carb? Thanks in advance!
@@djeppeson i found my past purchase on eBay but can't get a link. It is from a Suzuki RV90 1972-1977 according to the title of the ad and I paid something like 25 bucks. The opening of the carb was too big, so I used a chunk of large heat shrink tube, the adhesive lined type you can find in the electrical section of a home improvement store. I put it on the "tube" where the carb mounts. Also had to reroute the throttle cable a little. Can't remember if I showed that in the video.
Hi i have an outboard like this but i cant fix its with out spark.from the magneto there is 4 wires two blue and red for the coils then there is another 2 light yellow does that need to attached to somewhere else
There are many components to battery repairing. One place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Magic Mender Wizard (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the most useful course i've heard of. look at this unbelievable website.
I've got the same engine. Just wondering where the "pee hole" is so I can be sure the water pump is working correctly. It has a good impeller but I don't see it spitting water out. I thought it was below the engine at the rear but I don't see anything coming out on yours. Any info would help. Thanks!
I was going to ask the same thing; I have the DT16 and do not see it spit water at all; I heard him say "It's spitting water real good", but couldn't see where it's coming out. I don't want to blow my engine up, but nobody seems to show where it's supposed to circulate water
It comes out just below where I had the camera filming in the back. There is no pee hole on this motor. Same story on an old Evinrude I'm working on right now. I'll put up a video next time I have it running.
@@fishinandfixinshxt6660 Thank you for your reply; I looked for a couple hours on the motor itself and never did find a hole; then, I spent hours more online to see if I could find something and never did.
Along the spine of the lower unit section, go down about 6 inches from the bottom of the motor housing. That large hole is where the water pump spits out.
