    Nice review . Didn’t even know about rayovac. In think the BLUETTI AC1800 is a better value especially now on sale around 579.00 with more features and power. Hopefully lower with the 1800 P being out for awhile now.

    How often do ya have to restart the jackery and are you able to leave it plugged in overnight charging?

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před dnem

      The reset is not necessary, it only helps the % display accuracy, especially when it is not often charged or discharged completely (to 100 or to 0% which enables it to recalculate the % on it's own). Some power station brands recalculate every time the unit is turned on, but since these older Jackery models are "always on" (the buttons are live all the time) they never really turn off. So they don't recalculate or reset unless you do it. And yes you can leave it plugged in overnight, just unplug it in the morning. It will automatically stop charging once it reaches 100%. It is not recommended to leave it sitting at 100% long term however. If you plan to use it in the near future, it's fine. But for long-term storage (1 month or more) store it at 80% charge.

    7:38 so going by this chart, is it correct to assume that LFP batteries are currently the safest on the market? What about solid state batteries? Thanks for the video!

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před 4 dny

      Well solid-state describes the physical properties - the chemistry of the battery is another aspect. Most solid-state batteries are actually NMC or similar chemistry. LFP is definitely the safest battery that is not solid-state, but any battery with a liquid electrolyte has a chance of burning, and LFP batteries can catch fire and burn, but they are not as 'explosive' and less likely to catch fire in the first place (due to extreme high temps) but will still ignite if cell integrity is compromised (punctured) or over-charged. That is where solid-state does offer increased safety. And of course solid-state also has size and weight advantages as well. I'm not aware of any solid-state LFP batteries though, although Dabbsson does claim they use 'semi solid-state' LFP batteries. Finally, it is important to note that even regular NMC batteries are still considered 'safe'. Yes bad things can and do happen, but to prevent that, a well designed power station will have good physical protection (the case) and a BMS that prevents over-heating / over-charging.

    River2 Pro here. The fans are ON during charging at all times from the lowest 100W to the fastest at 850W, it makes no difference, sadly. So it also boils down to how many hours you'll be hearing something akin to a vacuum in your living space on a daily basis. Having said that, It's 26 degrees inside and I'm yet to detect any significant heat coming off the unit during charging or discharging.

  • @johnmal5975

    It has some neat battery tech for sure. Solar charging okay primarily a wall charger not interested in charging from the wall. I use solar to charge with the sun not the wall. I can not find anything on what the voltage limit is on the solar input? It's great these batterys last this long but if the inverter etc.. doesn't it doesn't really matter. I would like to see the industry focus on that as well. Most people probably think this will last 10 years but it won't if the other components wont. You are not just buying a battery. No one focuses on that but it should be addressed because its kind of misleading. Thats not a hit on your content I love your channel! To me its the elephant in the room that no one mentions. It's why I wont by big power stations like a delta ultra. I would just do diy victron type system because you can actually fix it. If my delta charge controllers go I am out 30,000 grand or whatever high dollar amount you put into it.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před 12 dny

      I couldn't find info on the solar specs, sorry. If I had to make an educated guess - it's likely the same charge controller as the Anker C1000, which is 600w / 60v / 15A (again just a guess). A lot of these companies pull parts from the same suppliers. For longevity, the SiC (and GaN) components in theory should last longer simply due to the better thermal properties. It is funny though, how everyone touted LiFePO4's long life, when in reality, even NMC batteries would most likely outlast the other components as well. Let's hope this LFP / SiC / GaN combo can actually deliver 10 yrs of daily use. 👍

No Out only on one of usb type-C, at least would make sense to increase capacity of Power Stations that support charging from usb or xt60 (for example EcoFlow River2/Max/Pro) 3. Low capacity for this size Look at Xiaomi sub brand Cuktech 30 300watt powerbank for cheaper price it has more capacity and much watts and much more interesting

    This was very helpful, thank you for posting. As a non-technical person, I bought this unit with the intention of keeping it plugged in into the wall and running my CPAP through it so that the CPAP stays on if the electricity goes out in the middle of the night, which happens frequently in my area. I’m wondering if I need to occasionally unplug it from the wall and drain it down before recharging it to preserve the battery life or, perhaps, if I should have gone the way of a UPS system instead. Do you have any insight on whether this can be used in such a manner?

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před 20 dny

      Yes, occasionally draining it down is a good idea. Does it need to stay plugged in all night? Perhaps you can just run your CPAP off this battery and then recharge it in the morning? As for UPS, it would require a AC inverter, and then you would need to run the inverter all the time, which is inefficient and a reliability concern when using it as a "full-time" UPS (plus it's wasteful on grid power, and reduces runtime on battery power). So that is not a better option for a DC powered CPAP.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před 25 dny

      It depends how far you live from the equator. The further you are, the sun has more angle and it will hit vertical mounted panels better throughout the year. Although during summer, the sun angle is reduced, and vertical panels will not provide good power. This can be solved with a moving mount, that can be tilted more horizontal during summer and tilted vertical during winter. 👍

    So no heat is ok. If its heating its not ok?

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před 27 dny

      Well heat is always produced. The fan blows it away. But the batteries get hotter and hotter. Some new power station models have a temperature sensor on the battery, and you can see the temperature in the App. If you cannot see the battery temp, it is hard to know. But you can use "C Rate" to guess. Keep the charge or discharge below 0.5C (1C = battery capacity in watts. Example: 240wh battery (Jackery 240) charging (or discharging) at 120 watts is 0.5C). 240wh at 240 watts is 1C If you are doing passthrough charging - take the combined total of input & output (Example: 100w output and 20w input, the total is 120w or 0.5C again). Higher C rates can be done for a short time. It is OK because it takes a while for the battery to get hot. But it is not recommended to do high C rates for a long time.

    Tested the EU version bought in Germany in 2024, it actually has 460Wh battery. An appliance that was constantly pulling 500W worked for 43 minutes, which is about right considering ~80% efficiency. It explains why it weights 10 kg - there is a fairly large battery inside (that and the case as well). But the station in terribly slow to charge. It takes 6.5 hours with the adapter it came with, lol. The speed of charging is 70W, absolutely abysmal. I have other Ctechi stations (GT200, GT500) and they all can be charged via USB-C for additional 60W of input. I was hoping that this one could do the same, but no. So it's kind of a bummer, but 460Wh, 600W for 180 Euro is not that bad. Fans are indeed rather quiet.

    I got my jackery explorer 300 (new version) lately, and there are some things ppl usually won't tell you on reviews, that This reviewer does: 1. only 1 usb gives u PD and over 11w. other usb c and A are low wattage 10w-11w. 2. The explorer (new version) doesn't have a designated port for solar panels. charging it from USB via solar panel, means u can't charge anything else during that time, for over 11w, unless using the DC port with a car charger or the AC appliance 220v port. 3. when the AC port is on, even without anything plugged in (no load), will drain the battery pretty significantly. (around 1% every 30 mins)

      @@SoGenFan oh wow so just now I found out about the “ps54,” I guess it’s the 2024 version of the eb55 but the price is pretty nice! Also, not related to sogens, but I kept getting these instagram ads for micro gas generators that seemed kind of cool, I can’t remember the company name but it was a kickstarter thing, there was one with a 300w inverter and a smaller one just for dc/usb stuff

    Hey man can i connect my aquarium filter that draws 35 watts to this battery and leave it charging on the wall so if the lights go out my filter will stay on automatically ? Im trying to figure this out.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před měsícem

      Yes you can. But it's not recommended long term, since power will always be flowing in and out of the battery. It will work though if you are out of town for a few days or something. For long term "UPS" use, look at a newer power station. Most have a UPS mode now, Jackery 300 Plus, Bluetti AC2A etc

      @@SoGenFan i am using a 1500 apc ups but with 35 watts from my filter it only gives me like an hour of power. I need something to have piece of mind when i go to work 10 hours a day just incase the lights go out. Can you please send me some links to power stations with ups that will help me with this ?

    • @SoGenFan

      Well 35w running for a possible 10 hours would require a larger power station (with larger battery). The minimum I would recommend then is a "Bluetti AC50B". Ideally something a little larger will give you more peace of mind. The new "Jackery 600 Plus" would be perfect. Another option is the "Bluetti AC70". Below are some links to them on Amazon. - Affiliate Links: Jackery 600 Plus: amzn.to/3LjphSK AC50B: amzn.to/3XZEAYA AC70: amzn.to/3VZEHki As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Thanks for the video. Thanks for explaining Battery save mode. But I don't understand the difference between the "energy saving mode" and "auto-off time" options. They seem like the same thing. I guess "energy savings mode" stays on if the battery is in use (and shuts off only if not in use). And "auto-off" turns the battery off whether it's in use or not. Yes?

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan Před měsícem

      Yes basically that's right. "Energy savings mode" will turn it off after 12h if you leave the 12v or AC sections on and the power draw is minimal. "Auto-off Time" allows you to schedule a duration the power is on for.

    I need to see how much solar can we expect to get from this on cloudy days, and what is the maximum wattage we can use 8 hours a day with this on a cloudy day with 2600 watts of panels. Guessing 600 watts ish. In Central Florida.

    Hopefully it will run my RV AC. Then it's enough. Alternator charge when moving around and I'm free to be cool. Solar has too many issues. Plus $15K Solar install needed to do the same thing.

    Don't point things out if you don't know what you are talking about, stop making things up, and don't give people the wrong info. The,,-22C startup support,, as the company is calling it , doesn't say that you can recharge this power station in low freezing temperatures, this is an advertisement and it simply says that you can use this power station in cold conditions and nothing is wrong with that, since you can actually use it in such a low temperature but you can't recharge it in this low temperature since you will damage the battery, looks like you don't understand what they are pointing out and you are telling funny stuff. Dont give people wrong info, you better take this video down

      This video is simply an overview of the content provided by Growatt. The picture you are referencing does indeed show an input cable connected, which is why I am asking Growatt for clarification on the "cold startup" support feature. If the battery has self-heating, the cells -in theory- would not be below freezing, so charging would still be possible. If the battery is too cold (below freezing), Growatt states this product has low temperature protection anyways (i.e. the battery will not accept charge if it's too cold). "Additionally,integrated with a Battery Management System (BMS), it delivers comprehensive protection against over/low temperature, voltage fluctuations, short circuits, and overloads, ensuring a durable and secure user experience."

      @@SoGenFan he what are you talking about,, does indeed show an input cable connected'' take a closer look indeed you can see the 120V charging input is not connected, pay attention, also I know that you can expect to have all the safety in the future but it doesn't mean this unit have any low cold temp protection please verify this first.
