They cant take 6 players from one team. They can only take 2-3 max and you protect one after they pick one each time. You guys act like teams wouldnt have all kinds of guys out there like Brandon Ingram and those type of players. Hell maybe Atlanta cuts ties with Trae Young for whatever reasons. You guys are underestimating how much teams will use this to reset their rosters to move in a more cap friendly direction to remain competitive for years. Teams wouldnt even come until probably 2028. This needs to be a conversation about FUTURE not current. Rudy and Conley are done at that point. Do more research on how it would actually be done instead of these what if takes.

Gonna be more 8 or 9 protected. Besided that there will be more talent available in that expansion draft than ever before. Teams will look to unload contracts and get themself realigned with the new salary cap rules. Gonna be a bunch of teams looking to reset or dump talented players that a team with no money tied up will have their pick of the litter. These next expansion teams will be more competitive from the start. These teams are going to come in trying to win why would you try to lose so you can sour your fanbase off top. Wouldnt be new teams for 3-4 years so the Rudy conversation doesnt matter.

I love the exercise, but I wish there was a little more knowledge/research about expansion drafts going into this… 1. You were corrected mid-show about the 2004 draft, but there was also the 1995 expansion draft (Raptors and Grizzlies) that happened since the Timberwolves joined the league in 1989. 2. Each team could only pick one player from a team’s pool of unprotected players. 3. Upcoming free agents were not included in the draftable or protectable pools. I don’t remember how option years were treated though. Those are just a couple things that I wanted to point out. Love the show!

Cmon Kyle 1989 was the last expansion draft? So when the Raptors and Grizzlies came in the year KG was drafted how did they field a team? Pooh was traded after his 3rd season for Michael Williams a player that started for 3-4 years for the Wolves and owned the NBA record for consecutive free throws made for years and Mackey doesn't remember him so how does he remember the guy traded years prior?
