      Unfounded rumour - we've had similar situation to what you describe on other Cornish roads in the past; but on this occasion we made it all the way to the top without meeting any other traffic.

      They had just as far to reverse up hill, as we had to reverse down hill - so it was 6 of one and half a dozen of the other!

  • @mxyzptlyk
    @mxyzptlyk Před 14 dny

    I wouldn't have reversed. Aren't the police supposed to help people? I'd have taken the key out of the ignition, dangled it for the cops to see and dropped it onto the dash (as I have done in similar circumstances in the past).

    • @NathanvilleOrgUk
      @NathanvilleOrgUk Před 10 dny

      Well, that's Cornwall for you - But there are valid environmental and historical (national heritage) reasons why so many of Cornwall roads can't be upgraded (protected against development) e.g. this particular road is actually inside a nature reserve area.

    @lg5819 Před 16 dny

    You’ll be driving down that road forever if you have to keep stopping and reversing, giving way to other drivers coming from the opposite direction. Why don’t the local council there widen the road a little bit and build a lay-by in the middle of the road so the driver doesn’t have to reverse completely back.

    • @NathanvilleOrgUk
      @NathanvilleOrgUk Před 10 dny

      Many of the roads in Cornwall are protected against development for environmental and historical reasons (National Heritage) e.g. many date back over 1,000 years and now act as wildlife corridors across the county, and are in conservations areas etc. This particular road is inside a designated wildlife reserve area.

    People and driving opinions...... one of the posts even suggesting they get out to ask the other driver how far back the space is. Really...then if you know some (bucket loads) of those Cornish lanes then your journey is gonna be spent more on foot / asking dumb questions than driving.

    Regularly drive around Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset as a multidrop driver. Some women are useless at reversing, ask any truck,van or bus driver, they just stop and sit there expecting you to do the reversing, even when a layby , passing place or junction is in sight behind them. Some men on the other hand won't reverse in the same situation because they think they're Alpha males or superior, the old who do you think you are attitude.
