precious video form the past Singapore. I was 18 then. the commentary on the boat was interesting and insightful to me too! thank you!
1:43 sounds like the Ablion front engined bus chassis with Soon Chow rebuild bodywork on some SBS route ?!
Albion from England.👍
I have a very strong feeling that my younger brother got food poisoning from this truck when he was in Yr 5
Acum 2 saptamani am venit din Benidorm.. superb totul..., plaja, oamenii, mancarea, marea calda cam 29 de grade. Peisajele mirifice..
Must have been really early in the morning... I did not remember Arab street to ever be so quiet.. Hmm
先辈长辈从无到现今的我们
前人种树后人乘凉
How do you tell the time one this clock?
Gosh, I was 15 in 1989. New Kids on the Block, Tommy Page and Debbie Gibson were all the rage then. I lived up north and hardly travelled downtown. Transport was not as efficient as it is now but, it was the start of air-conditioned buses. Thank you for uploading the video. So much has changed. 💜❤
I was only 12 years old😂😂
0:57 WTF!!!!!! that child was ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got so shocked and excited that i shout out to my parents to verify if that was really me !!!!
Thank you so much for this footage. I was at St. John’s in the late sixties. Great memories of old Singapore. Probably the happiest times of my life.
17:13 Geezus! Looks like all these buildings are falling apart by the minute! 18:02 Clarke Quay was a lot more fascinating back then 😉
This is the Singapore that I miss. No brain-dead, self-absorbed sheeple staring at their phones watching drama series or playing games while carelessly walking around in crowded public places. Geezus! Look up, stay alert and smile!
the arab street so quiet compare with today busy haji lane ... Singapore is a miracle thru a bit crowded and crime rise.
Lindo lugar Parabéns Pelo video
that engine roar is incredible
The time still no gadgets, internet etc.... People love to see to have quality talk to each other while eating, drinking or even while walking. But now is totally different,95% people always keep busy using their gadgets.
Best era....no radiation...no hp...no wifi....no fb..no ig....no tiktok....no digital media.....less kepoh people...simple daily life....🤘
It's my happiest time of my life, working at marina Mandarin hotel at that time till 1994.
Went there on the closure of Bourne School in KL in the mid '60's. Only attended one term before Dad was returned to Blighty. I was a border living in Kluang. My only memories were of a huge white connurbation with what seemed to be an awfully long walk from the dorms to the school itself. I do remember the standards being higher than I was accustomed to in my former schools in Malaya (Slim and Bourne) Would have love a couple more terms there. Returned to Singers in mid '70's on an exercise. Singapore had changed beyond any recogntion by that point. Loved my short time in Singers.
Again thanks for posting...I was in Singapore January and February 1989 and not since, I look at this video at this time every year to get my mind off the snow here
brings back no memories, I drunk benidorm dry!!! All I can remember is a pub called the black chicken.
Too fast moving from side to side, made me feel dizzy but otherwise brings back old memories.
I was a primary 5 student in parry school at that year...still remember during that time no iPhone or Android phone only public phones using coins or phone card buses have no air-conditioning I think is 25cents for child fare.
Grande Nigel 👍✌️beautiful
The Guy with the yellow shirt and dark glasses at 11: 57 , my God he's a "laugh a minute " I bet .
Was here from 89-94. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
53:50 Trading Sailboat from Indonesia. 55:06 Kusu Island 56:07 Lazarus Island 56:29 and 57:22 St John 57:10 Pulau Terkukor 57:40 Sisters' Island

Thank you for sharing this online. To me this is a treasure :-)
I just love the old Singapore. Not the new
Ù
Where is this school located?
Sg 1989..i really love this. It reminds me so many things. Thank u for sharing btw when was the last time u visited singapore?
1989, i was 13 from last visit there in 1984
We gonna rock on to
wow TLDM (Royal Malaysian Navy) Barrack in woodlands Singapore back then
Wow johor bahru, Malaysia is included in this video as well. classic :-)
The environment was quite similar to penang
thanks bro! appreciate it!
Singapore was so beautiful back then. Unlike now, concrete jungle and full of stress
When paddy's day falls midweek does it still get really busy as in this video. Thanks
The good old S’pore ,unlike now is a urban waste land packed with foreigners 🥲
certainly reminds me of the old shop buildings in Ipoh. Most are still around but sooner or later, modern commercial buildings will replace these establishments dating back to the pre-war days.
Video cam is a expensive hobby back then and required video tapes. Thanks for capturing these rare videos at a age where handphone with videos features do not exist yet.
I was in my Ns in1989.. people are more friendly, Approachable and simple. Compared it to the people now, they are very self-centered, snobbish and money-minded, complaining a lot. SG has become a very annoying place to stay nowadays. Children are screaming very loud from day to night, couples are quarrelling, screaming and yelling.,whats wrong with SG now.
Yup back then there was really not much choices when it comes to restaurants and eateries, as depicted by these many empty shop houses.
1989 October. Count down 6 more months to ROD.
I remembered the old type of traffic lights!
maybe all these are still around in an alternate timeline...
